This modern and spacious cabin sits 8,140 feet above sea level on nine acres in the middle of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. The Cabin has 360 degree views of the Rocky Mountains and overlooks the 300 acre Green Mesa Ranch, Tomichi Creek Valley, and Quartz Creek Valley. The property has a front porch and a back deck where you can sit, relax, and enjoy the views. The Cabin is an excellent base camp for many adventures - fishing, horseback riding, hiking, 4-wheeling, jeeping, mountain biking, touring, etc.
My wife and I lived in the Gunnison Country, in this home, for four years before moving. We enjoyed the area and the friends we made so much, we decided to keep the home after we moved we take every opportunity to go back to see old friends and revitalize ourselves. Some of our favorite activities are shopping in Gunnison and Crested Butte, hiking, 4-wheeling, enjoying lunch at The Gunnisack and dinner at the Trough, but mostly, sitting on the front porch or back deck and taking in the creation around us.
Lee Reed purchased this house in 2005
We purchased this property as our residence when we lived in Gunnison. When we moved from Gunnison, we loved the friends we made, the house and the area too much to totaly leave, so we kept the house as our second home.
When we go to our Gunnison home, we enjoy sipping our morning coffee on the front porch and watch the sunrise and the Tomichi Creek valley wake-up. We enjoy our evening wine on the back deck while watching the sunset and the horses on the Green Mesa Ranch. During these events, we enjoy hiking and jeeping the Gunnison Country, shopping in Gunnison and Crested Butte, boating on Blue Mesa Reservoir.
Our family spent a week at this location and had a wonderful time.
Very spacious and complete. Lots of solitude.
It's central location provides so many opportunities to do pretty much whatever you desire.
The views are wonderful and Gunnison is close by for supplies.
We've used VRBO quite a bit thru the years but this location is one of the best we're ever rented.
I booked this home as "base camp" for the bridesmaids and 3 sets of parents the week of my daughter's wedding; in short, it couldn't have worked better! The home is about 15-minutes east of Gunnison with beautiful 360 degree views; it is well-maintained, clean, spacious, and the layout worked perfect for our needs. The bonus room (located above the garage) has 4 twin beds and lots of floor space, the master suite and half-bath are on main level garage side of the house, the other 2 bedrooms, den and full bath are on the main level opposite garage side. We cooked many meals in the well equipped kitchen (lots of dishes/glasses/pots and pans/plastic ware), BBQ'd on the beautiful deck, washed loads of laundry, had room to relax and watch movies together, and never ran out of hot water. The owners were more than gracious and timely responding to questions and concerns before, during and after our stay. If I ever again have the need for a number of people to stay in Gunnison, I will look no further than this home!
We traveled to Gunnison for a wedding and originally wanted to stay in town. I am so glad that we chose this house instead. It is only about a 15 minute drive to town. The views are breathtaking and after a busy day of wedding festivities and sight seeing, it was wonderful to retreat back to the home and relax. The pictures look nice, but the home is much bigger and better in person. The layout of the home worked out well for us. The master bedroom and bathroom are on one side of the home on the first-floor level, with the loft that housed the four twin beds on the same side, second floor. The two queen bedrooms and 2nd bathroom were all the way on the other side of the house on the first level (a bonus for us since we were staying with my in-laws) and allowed for more privacy. The laundry room (love the steam washer and dryer) and half bath are right off of the kitchen and garage entrance. The house was clean, organized and well-stocked (much appreciated)! All questions to the owner were answered in a timely manner. I greatly appreciate that the Reed's have decided to share this beautiful home with others and if we travel to the Gunnison area again, this house will definitely be my first choice!
Our family of seven adults stayed for two nights to attend a graduation at Western State Colorado University. The home had everything we needed and then some. Plenty of room and well supplied. A fireplace would have been nice but not really necessary. It was a drive of about 12 miles to Gunnison. Isolated and relaxing with easy highway access. Much nicer than a hotel/motel for a group.
This was a wonderful cabin. It was so comfortable and welcoming. We thouroughly enjoyed ourselves. Highlights were 4-wheeling and sitting on the deck enjoying the views. Our kids ranged in age from 2 yrs. to 17yrs. and they ALL had a wonderful time. The cabin was clean and usable, with a great kitchen that was well supplied with utensils and cookware. We grilled out several times and enjoyed our meals on the back deck. The beds were comfortable and the house was cozy. We were so very pleased.
Our home is 12 miles east of Gunnison right off Hwy. 50.
