Our fully equipped year-round cottage is an easy 90-mile drive from NYC and we spent almost every weekend there when we lived in NY. House is comfy, not fancy, with a great location on the lake looking west so sunsets will awe you and your guests all year.

The main living area of the house is an open design kitchen, dining, living room with gas fireplace and full bath.

The master bedroom with en-suite bath has a king bed and the second bedroom has a bunk bed with a double lower bunk and twin top bunk with room on the floor for a queen aerobed. We also have a pack'n'play available if needed. Inside and outside dining tables each seat 8.

Our cottage is not large but the vast outdoor space and the open-ness of the indoor space never felt crowded or uncomfortable. Regardless of the season, the cottage offers much whether you are an outdoor enthusiast or not.

The deck, partially shaded, extends the length of the house (over 60ft) and is great for entertaining or simply lounging by the lake. Make a fire in the evenings (or during the day when the weather is cool) to really feel like you are in the country. Down a few steps from the deck is our beach and dock. Bring your boat or borrow our canoe to explore Bantam Lake, CT's largest natural lake. The back yard is almost an acre of lawn and across the road is a trailhead for White Memorial Conservation Area with miles of trails for hiking & biking. You can be as busy as you want to be!

Litchfield County is the foothills to the Berkshires and our cottage is accessible to everything. Our time is usually spent relaxing on Bantam Lake - nothing like having your own beach to enjoy. Bring your boat and use our dock, or borrow our canoe to explore the lake. Fishing, swimming and playing in the sand all fill our weekends at the lake. Within a few miles of our cottage, however, you can shop or dine or drink or antique to your heart's content. The White Memorial Conservation Area has a trailhead across from our road and our weekends usually include a hike or two and the rolling local hills make for some great bike rides. In the winter, we walk and skate and cross country ski on the lake (when it's frozen!) and the kids love to watch the ice fisherman. Mohawk Mountain is 20 minutes away and is a great family learn-to-ski hill.

Perfect Weekend

My friend and I stayed here the first weekend in May, and for me it was perfection. The deck is stupendous, ideal for sitting in the sun and thinking, which is all I wanted to do. The house itself is both intimate and spacious and clean -- and all the facilities work. I would certainly come back later in the year and swim if possible. In a word: fintestic!
