Dirty and poor maintained property

My friend and I stayed in Lakevillage condo in August, 2012. The condo is very poor maintained, dishes are very old, pans are greezy. Washer and dryer mashine very aged and don't do a good job. Beddings did not even looked like they were washed, yellow stains on the pillows and matresses. We had to get our own bedding to sleep on. No air conditioning, its hot in the summer. I really like Lakeland property itself, and it was no vacancy, as we almost checked out from such a poor quality house. After all, the owner refused to return my security deposit, that she collected for keys and permits which I had returned promptly. After a month, I contacted her and she said that cleaner had to spend an extra time cleaning after us (which is unpossible as we barely stayed inside and vacumed daily), and she is keeping security deposit. Please note, that when you book, she is charging for cleaning on top of the rental fee. Looks like her prices are reasonable, but I would rather pay little extra then stay in such a poor maintained property.
Owner's Response: We have owned our townhouse for 34 years and our cleaner keeps the house in immaculate order. It is seldom we need to withhold all or part of a security deposit for a cleanliness issue. In the case of the August 2012 guest, the cleaner found the house extremely filthy upon the guest's departure and it took 8 hours to clean the house for the next guest. The next guest saw the condition of our townhouse before it was cleaned and was stunned at the mess the August 2012 guest and her crowd left behind. We have many regular guests who enjoy both our townhouse and the amenities at Lakeland Village, and tell us they really feel comfortable and at home in our townhouse and enjoy their stay.
