Oceanfront Luxury Private Home/villa, on Winding Bay, Eleuthera

We had a wonderful time at Point o' Vue. The house is lovely and wonderfully situated on a beautiful bay. The style of the house is very open - great for families with a nice balance of privacy and communal living. We were two couples and two children sharing a room - house was perfect. Great service from the caretakers.

We have been to Eleuthera several times, but our first at POV. We were very happy with the house and the wonderful location.

There is great snorkeling available on the bay and at local beaches - the water is calm enough that our nine year old girl snorkeled for hours at a time with the adults! Fantastic marine life within easy reach of the beaches (parrot fish, lobster, trunk fish, octupus, Ridley turtle! and more).

We even went GeoCaching (you knew that you would find this activity in the Bahamas).

The grocert store in Rock Sound is a good one - an important point for staying on Eleuthera.

We've just returned from our 5th stay since 2003 at Point O' Vue and as usual, it was terrific. We (obviously) love the place and feel very at home there. There were five of us this year - our best friends and our 15-year old son. We're avid snorkelers and the "boys" like to spearfish, so we eat well from the sea almost every night with all manner of fish, conch and lobster from the reefs in Winding Bay. We generally have a boat, but even without a boat, there are plenty of snorkeling spots within easy reach of the shore not far from the house. Northside Beach, north of Rock Sound, is a fabulous spot - lots of sand, tide pools and reefs right off the short to explore. We also explored Surfer's Beach and found lots of small pretty shells.

We did finally make it to Island Farm, which is a great spot to get fresh local organic greens, tomatoes, herbs and other yummy things. The grocery store in Rock Sound just keeps on getting better - we've given up entirely on bringing anything from home! And there is a terrific new wine store (Bristols) in Governor's Harbour which is definitely worth a visit. If you're up towards Governor's Harbour, dinner or lunch at Cocodimama is highly recommended.

As everyone else has already stated, the house is very comfortable, spacious and well-maintained. Cola and Columbus are terrific - we learn new things about the island and fishing from Columbus every time we visit. Eleuthera is definitely not for those looking for a vacation with lots of shopping and nightlife, but if you want total relaxation on gorgeous deserted beaches, genuinely friendly locals and no "tourist traps" this is the place for you and I can think of no better home base than Point O' Vue.

We will most definitely be back!

This was our second time coming to Point O'Vue, the first time with our children. The house is amazing, with everything you could want or need. Columbus and Cola were very helpful and friendly, prepping the house before our arrival. The beach is stunning, with wonderful, soft sand that is perfect for sand castle building. We hit the Lighthouse Beach for an awesome day of exploring and snorkeling, we dove for sand dollars at Ten Bay Beach, body surfed at Surfers Beach, watched the sunset at Tarpum Bay while picking up fresh fish, and mapped out gazillions of constellations from the upper deck at the house. If you're there on a Friday, don't miss the Friday Fish Fry in Governor's Harbor. The food and dance were a delight! My children want to move into POV permanently! We kayaked, swam, napped, flew kites, and completely chilled out. Pov is big enough to give everyone his own favorite spot to hang out. The TV looked like it would keep a restless soul happy, but we never found the need to turn it on. The weather was spectacular--80 degrees, sunny, a slight breeze to keep away bugs, and cool at night for perfect sleeping weather. It was a vacation we will never forget, and one that we will try to recreate on our next visit to Point O'Vue. Fly into Rock Sound to get to paradise the fastest!
