Located on the banks of the world famous Kenai River, Kenai Magic Lodge awaits your visit. On May 17, 1985, Les Anderson broke the world record in the King Salmon when he landed his monster Chinook weighing in at 97 pounds and 4 ounces – nearly 5 feet long and 37.5 inches in girth. Amazingly, Les’s gigantic King Salmon was weighted nearly 7 hours after it was caught. Experts estimate that if he would have weighed his gigantic King Salmon immediately after landing it, his world record King Salmon would have weighted in at over 100 pounds! King Salmon fishing is just the beginning of fishing and adventure activities that await you at Kenai Magic Lodge. The Kenai River also abounds in Red Salmon, Silver Salmon, and Rainbow Trout. Nearby you may fish the Kasilof River as well.

After river fishing for a few days, you can schedule a flyout fishing adventure via float plane to remote locations such as Wolverine Creek, and Kuskatan. In addition, flyout fishing to the Chuit is available by helicopter. All flyout fishing adventures are considered bush Alaska fishing experiences and are accessible only by float plane or helicopter for a truly Alaska remote wilderness experience.

Only 1 ½ hours away, you can deep sea fish from Seward or Homer for Halibut, Salmon, Rock Fish and Ling Cod and other species of deep sea fish. From Seward, head out of Resurrection Bay to test your deep sea fishing skills. If you choose to fish from Homer, you will be leaving from Kachemak Bay. Regardless of whether to choose to fish from Seward or Homer, don’t forget to purchase your derby ticket prior to your departure on your deep sea fishing excursion.

In addition to fishing adventures, you can choose a flightseeing adventure of Harding Icefield, scenic rafting trip of the Upper Kenai River with Class III whitewater, or more adventuresome Sixmile with Class III, IV and V whitewater rafting. If you’re a horse lover, great horseback riding awaits with quarter day, half day, and full day horseback riding adventures. If hiking is at the top of your list, hiking trails abound throughout the Kenai Peninsula area.

Only 1 ½ hours northeast from Kenai Magic Lodge, head out to Seward. On the way into town, make a stop at Exit Glacier to see an up close view of an active glacier retreating right before your very eyes. Visit the Alaska SeaLife Center to view Harbor Seals, Sea Lions, giant Pacific Octopus as well as 100 species of fish including King Salmon, Red Salmon and Silver Salmon. Also see 10 species of birds including the infamous Tufted Puffins. Try a kayak adventure to experience beautiful Resurrection Bay and view sea life as well as an abundance of birds firsthand in their natural habitat. Embark on a Kenai Fjords National Park cruise to experience sensational seascapes and tidewater glaciers including frequently calving of Holgate Glacier. When gigantic sheer walls of ice fall from a glacier, you will hear what sounds like booming gunfire – an event not to be missed. While cruising, look for Humpback Whales, Orca Whales, Sea Lions, Sea Otters, Harbor Seals, and hundreds of different seabirds including the most popular Tufted Puffin.

Only 1 ½ hours south from Kenai Magic Lodge, make your way to the end of the road and the small town of Homer. Kayak the pristine waters of Kachemak Bay to view a multitude of birds as well as sea life in their very own home. Try a day cruise to the remote coastal village of Seldovia or take the Danny J to Halibut Cove for a fabulous lunch or dinner. Experience some of the world’s best bear viewing of Alaska Grizzly Bears in their natural habitat with a flyout adventure to Katmai National Park, visit this rugged volcanic coast to see, observe and photograph the unforgettable Alaska Grizzly bear. Bear viewing at Katmai National Park is described by participants as an once-in-a-lifetime experience.
