Located on the banks of the world famous Kenai River, Kenai Magic Lodge awaits your visit. On May 17, 1985, Les Anderson broke the world record in the King Salmon when he landed his monster Chinook weighing in at 97 pounds and 4 ounces – nearly 5 feet long and 37.5 inches in girth. Amazingly, Les’s gigantic King Salmon was weighted nearly 7 hours after it was caught. Experts estimate that if he would have weighed his gigantic King Salmon immediately after landing it, his world record King Salmon would have weighted in at over 100 pounds! King Salmon fishing is just the beginning of fishing and adventure activities that await you at Kenai Magic Lodge. The Kenai River also abounds in Red Salmon, Silver Salmon, and Rainbow Trout. Nearby you may fish the Kasilof River as well.
After river fishing for a few days, you can schedule a flyout fishing adventure via float plane to remote locations such as Wolverine Creek, and Kuskatan. In addition, flyout fishing to the Chuit is available by helicopter. All flyout fishing adventures are considered bush Alaska fishing experiences and are accessible only by float plane or helicopter for a truly Alaska remote wilderness experience.
Only 1 ½ hours away, you can deep sea fish from Seward or Homer for Halibut, Salmon, Rock Fish and Ling Cod and other species of deep sea fish. From Seward, head out of Resurrection Bay to test your deep sea fishing skills. If you choose to fish from Homer, you will be leaving from Kachemak Bay. Regardless of whether to choose to fish from Seward or Homer, don’t forget to purchase your derby ticket prior to your departure on your deep sea fishing excursion.
In addition to fishing adventures, you can choose a flightseeing adventure of Harding Icefield, scenic rafting trip of the Upper Kenai River with Class III whitewater, or more adventuresome Sixmile with Class III, IV and V whitewater rafting. If you’re a horse lover, great horseback riding awaits with quarter day, half day, and full day horseback riding adventures. If hiking is at the top of your list, hiking trails abound throughout the Kenai Peninsula area.
