At the base of the red and white sandstone cliffs in the Elkheart Ridge, you'll find the welcoming Mesa Cabin. Perfect as a base camp for exploring the many parks and recreation areas in southwest Utah, visiting Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, or simply a secluded getaway for a little quiet time in the country.
Available year-round, the three bedroom, two bath cabin is ideal whether your desire is summer barbecues and cool nights under the stars, or a crackling fire and a holiday turkey in the oven.
The Mesa Cabin is located on the 75 acre grounds of the XbarH Lodge, and is cared for and supported by the staff of the XbarH. Garbage collection, snow removal, firewood, as well as local knowledge and restaurant recommendations, are all parts of your experience at the XbarH Mesa Cabin and the hospitality of southwest Utah.

From the Mesa Cabin Guest Journal: On our arrival the afternoon of September 19, we were greeted by Michele & JC at the main lodge. We've never met two more genuine hosts. They made us feel like the Mesa Cabin was our home for the week. Our stay included day visits to Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon North Rim and Zion. Each day ended with exploring the property around our "home". On Wednesday, we explored a slot canyon in town. Well worth the time if you're adventurous. We can't say what park was our favorite, but knowing that we had our comfortable cabin to return to made each day special. Thank you, Michele & JC, for your hospitality and for your attention to every detail.
Mesa Cabin is the ideal location for visiting Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, Cedar Breaks, and Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. Michelle & J.C. are as good as any hosts could ever be! They are friendly, full of helpful information regarding places to go, things to do, restaurants, etc., and are a priceless perk to have at this absolutely stunning vacation rental. Mesa cabin is well equipped, clean, private, and has the most awesome backdrop you can ask for. Zion, Bryce, and Cedar Breaks are within close driving distance, along with the quaint community of Kanab. Grocery & fine dining can both be found, yet your stay will give you the perfect taste of the expansive beauty of Utah! I simply can't say enough good things about our stay there, and would highly recommend this rental to everyone!!!
we LOVED our time at Mesa Cabin. Michele and JC were such wonderful hosts - so accommodating and warm. This cabin is stocked with literally EVERYTHING you could possibly need. We brought our german shepherd mix who LOVED lounging on the provided bed, next to the fire. This cabin is a perfect home base for excursions all over southern utah and northern arizona - couldn't be in a better location. The cabin is BEAUTIFUL, and the amenities are top notch. the landscape around the cabin is beautiful and we loved sitting on the porch and looking at the stars after a long day of hiking. We intend to come back, and couldn't imagine a better place to recommend to others!
I'd scoured the VRBO website, among many others, for a rental cabin in southern Utah that was genuinely secluded - not the ubiquitous close-up shot where zooming out reveals that the place is actually part of a subdivision, but a proper cabin with some space around it, some privacy, and most of all, a place that blended effortlessly and humbly with Utah's gorgeous landscapes. A good friend and I go on annual trips where we like to get outside to hike, explore, and enjoy good food and drink, and the more rustic the setting, for us, the better. Finally found the XbarH Mesa Cabin, close to our departure date, and instantly got excited. Emailed Michele for details, specifically regarding the layout of the property, and she promptly got back to me with information - even a detailed satellite map! A joy to correspond with. Arrived and was struck immediately by the warmth of both JC and Michele; both fantastic, friendly people. The cabin itself, along with the surrounding property, is stunning. During our time there (5 days/nights), we hiked The Narrows (the 2-day, top-down route), climbed Angels Landing so early one morning that we were practically alone up there, mountain biked around Navajo Lake, climbed around in the gorgeous slot canyon a short trip from the lodge, and stuffed ourselves with buffalo ribs, rattlesnake, and cobbler at the nearby Buffalo Bistro. We barbecued enormous feasts using the charcoal barbecue, and spent nights putting our tired feet up on the porch, cold drinks close at hand, or clambering up the red rock behind the cabin in the light of the full moon. The cabin was spotless and cozy, and JC and Michele supply staples such as coffee, dishwashing soap, and charcoal, so the annoyance of having to buy staples for only a few days away is averted. There are lots of family reviews for this property, and I fully agree that families will love the Mesa Cabin, but if you're looking for a place to spend some one-on-one quality time with an old friend, the Mesa Cabin works for that too. Michele and JC are the perfect hosts, as they have that rare, all-important ability to understand their guests' needs without anyone saying a word. In our case, as wonderful as the two of them were, and as certain as we both were that they'd be fun to hang out with, we were looking most for some alone time, a true feeling of privacy, and they very easily and graciously helped us out with that experience. An absolutely incredible, very special place indeed.
This was my first time reserving a place sight unseen. I was surprised and delighted to arrive at the Mesa Cabin late my first night. Michele and JC had turned the lights on for us, and left us a welcoming note. We didn't get to meet them until midway through the next day, and what a treasure they were. They immediately welcomed us into their home, loaned my 11 year old son a couple of books about the local wildlife and tracking, quickly checked us in and gave us a tour of the Lodge (Beautiful doesn't cover it!) They told us to make ourselves at home on the acreage, and to just stop in if we had any questions.
The cabin is wonderfully isolated, and Michele and JC happily gave us our space to explore, but thankfully were never too far away, when my husband and children climbed up the mountain and couldn't see their way down, JC appeared as if magically and calmly climbed up to escort them down.
The Cabin is beautiful, rustically decorated, and surrounded by amazing views no matter where you look. It has all the amenities you could want, from pots and pans to washer and dryer. It was spotlessly clean, and JC had thoughtfully cut wood for us to have a fire in the outdoor firepit. Everything was thought of, I had to do no work on my vacation.
My family and I remember fondly our time at XbarH, and the Mesa Cabin. We all had such a fantastic time and miss it greatly. We took my grandmother, a spry 82 year old, who says it was the best vacation of her life......that's hard to beat.
I promise you won't be disappointed if you stay at the Lodge or the Cabin. There are so many things to do and it's right in the center of all of it. Or, you can just spend your days laying in the sun and enjoying the very best nature has to offer.
Be sure and say hi to Jack, Michele and JC's wonderful dog, and the self appointed welcome committee!
