The Laurel Creek house is the ultimate private getaway. A house with true character built in 2002. Peace and quiet in a totally private setting on 96 wooded acres, but still within 2 miles of a country store, 6 miles to Fayetteville and less than 15 minutes to shopping centers and grocery stores.
This is the perfect place for nature lovers. There is an abundance of wildlife on the property including deer, turkey, hawks, bats, humming birds and pileated wood peckers...just to name a few. Miles of hiking trails around our 2 acre stocked pond and throughout the private 96 acre property with views of the new river in fall and winter.
The house has 3 bathrooms, central heat and air - satellite TV - cell phone reception and hard wood floors. Many recycled items were used during the construction of this GREEN house like old school house doors, old door head boards and stain glass windows. Much of the lumber for this house was milled on-site from the surrounding forest.
Property is accessed using a long gravel drive. We recommend that renters have a vehicle with good ground clearance such as an SUV or crossover. Low ground clearance vehicles such as sports cars are not recommended. Basically, leave the Corvette at home!
Just close the gate and escape into this beautiful, natural, quiet area.
For the last 4 years our 2 families rent a mountain house to enjoy a long weekend. This was by far our favorite. The kids loved the pond, wildlife in the front yard, and the fire pit. The adults loved the extremely well equipped kitchen (you really only need to bring food) and the tranquility of the porch overlooking the field. The house was very well maintained and the beds were very comfortable. Everything we needed was there. Fayetteville is a cool little town. We went rock climbing with Hard Rock Climbing, did the bridgewalk and aerial obstacle course at Timber Trek. Great restaurants too. We loved it and will stay here again.
What a fantastic place. We were lucky enough to be there when the dogwoods and redbuds were blooming, absolutely beautiful. In the mornings you can sit with your coffee on the deck and watch the deer, evenings a glass of wine and do it all over again. The house is spacious, comfortable, and comes with everything we needed for our stay. You can forget life exists beyond the gate, hike the trails, build a fire in the fire pit, or be adventurous I with river rafting and zip lining near by. Even with this house's great seclusion, great restaurants and grocery stores are near by.
The owners very a great help to make sure we had a wonderful stay. Thanks M&D !
This is a great place to stay! It was just a short 5 hour drive for us from Fort Bragg, NC. My husband and I met up with my family (from Indiana, just a 5-6 hour drive for them too) and we stayed here in the early fall, it was just beautiful!! The house is very clean and spacious. However, the trees, wildlife, nature sounds and smells were the best part of this spot! Zip-lining and white water rafting were just a short drive away too. We will definitely be booking another stay here and I recommend it to all nature lovers, or anyone wanting to just get away and get some fresh air!
We had a great time on the property during our rafting trip in WV. Seculded yet convenient. The house was comfortable and had all needed amenities. Great times at the pond and fire pit, as well as on the balcony overlooking the property.
Mike - the owner - is incredibly responsive and helpful.
All-in-all, a great stay!
This is a perfect place for us to stay for our "end of summer" whitewater rafting trip on the Gauley River. The house is beautiful, comfortable and clean. Large enough for two families and guests. The kitchen is fully equipped and with plenty of shopping nearby allows for meal preparation "just like home". There are plenty of good restaurants for dining out as well. Secret Sandwich Society, Dirty Ernie's Rib Pit and Diogi's are our favorites. The 6 hour drive from our Indiana home is short enough to be convenient and long enough to want to stay at least 3 or 4 nights. The peaceful atmosphere provides a vacation feel around the clock. Just a walk around the grounds or to sit on the balcony provides a tranquil tone. A huge front yard allows ample space for games of all kinds. Adventure is plentiful on all levels and within minutes of this awesome retreat. Horseback ride is on the agenda for us this year. I logged in today to check availability and I'm happy to see that our choice weekend is open. Time to book it !!
Gotta' say that this is one of the most special places you will ever find. Besides the spacious, well laid out home (plenty of privacy for multiple people), the land and views are just wonderful. I enjoyed watching deer and other wildlife from the porch area. And there are flowers and wild flowers to enjoy. I fell asleep each night listening to the bullfrogs' lullaby. This place is neat and clean - very well maintained and "ready" for visitors to enjoy. Take a walk back to the pond. Build a fire at the fire pit. Great little town and lots of things to do for the nature lover and adventurous - or for those who like life a little slower. Head for the river or sit and read or maybe enjoy some great food at the local restaurants and listen to some good music. I packed lots of fun into just a few short days. I will, for sure, plan another trip to this very, very, special place.
Located on 96 private acres at the end of a gravel drive but just a quick 7 mile drive to the New River Gorge Bridge and all of the rafting and hiking activities the river area has to offer.
