A Great Country Cabin but Near All Local Attractions.

My wife and I spent one week in the Pioneer cabin while we worked a business conference in downtown Anchorage. In past years we stayed in downtown for convenience. For this years visit we wanted to escape the noise, traffic and continual flow of tourists, so we looked for a convenient, full featured cabin nearby. The drive from Pioneer cabin to downtown Anchorage was an enjoyable 45 minutes through the beautiful Mat-Su valley.
We cannot say enough about this wonderful property. It is very clean and comfortable as well as spacious. The gas fireplace easily took the chill off the cool mornings, the gas BBQ grill worked great for steaks and we enjoyed the outdoor fire ring almost every night. Firewood was provided as part of the rental. The owners were terrific people who were very easy to do business with throughout the reservation process and our rental stay. They have a very reasonable cancelation policy.
The free Wi-Fi worked great. We were able to stream videos from Netflix with no issue. We could not video call with Skype as the upload bandwidth, as so often is the case, was not sufficient. You could make audio calls though with no problems.
The only negative thing I can say is that the photos on the web listing gave us the impression that the cabin was small. It is very spacious and comfortable. I would like to note that the second bedroom, which also has a half bath, is located in a loft space. You do need to climb a fairly steep ladder-staircase to reach this space. If you have any mobility issues, you might want to verify this prior to renting.
We will definitely stay here again when we visit the Anchorage area in the future.
