Former Carriage House on Plum Island Massachusetts

I had such a nice time! The house was exactly what I was looking for. It's a great location for a low key, relaxing vacation in a very special place. Sandra and Bob are friendly and and professional. I hope to come back next year or sooner for a longer stay!

First let me begin by saying if I could have given 4.75 stars I would have.

I rented the cottage for 4 nights, It was the perfect size for me and my mother who was celebrating her 64th birthday.

Positives:
The cottage was pristine inside and out - clean, well kept, included every amenity you could possibly need and then some - seriously, its better equipped than most high priced hotels, I forgot dental floss and there it was in the basket on the towel shelf.

The owner, Sandi even provided a welcome basket of goodies and a bottle of wine. Not to mention, there is a lovely garden just outside the living room where you can pick your own fresh vege's =)

Its just a short five minute walk to the uncrowded PI beaches, 10 minute drive to lovely downtown Newburyport and 25 minutes drive to Hampton/Rye Beach.




One teeny tiny small negative...
The only reason I couldn't give it a full 5 stars is that the only AC is a unit in the front bedroom with the bunk beds so the back main bedroom was a bit stuffy , I had a hard time sleeping the first night - I opted to open the sliding door the following night for some fresh air and that helped.

I should also note, there is no cable, not really an issue for me as I don't watch much TV but my mother usually does before bed and she was a bit bummed ...thankfully they offered free WiFi , so I set up the laptop and and hooked mom up with a movie online =)

All things considered we enjoyed our stay, and would certainly return, the price, quality and location were right!

We decided at the last minute that we wanted to get away for a few days and were so lucky to find this little gem! This adorable cottage had all the amenities of home plus more. It was light and airy, immaculately clean and very spacious for our family of 3. Sandy and her family were wonderful hosts, attending to every detail, and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our visit.

We found Plum Island to be exactly as we’d read about. There was no traffic or crowds, and the beaches are sandy and clean. We enjoyed an afternoon of browsing through the shops in Newburyport, a sunset sail with 9th Wave Sailing, midnight walks along the beach and afternoon deep sea fishing with Captain’s Fishing.

We also enjoyed lunches at the Beach Coma and Bob’s and we were not disappointed. The food was fresh, plentiful and tasty and the hospitality was fabulous.

We only visited Plum Island for 3 days but came away feeling like we’d been away for much, much longer and we missed the island when we returned home. We will definitely make this a regular destination.
