NEAT COTTAGE ON A NICE SANDY LAKE MICHIGAN BEACH

Mackinaw City Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-6)

Our cottage is located in the middle of the beautiful sandy beach of Trails End Bay, on Lake Michigan.

Trails End Bay is really one of the most beautiful beaches on this part of Lake Michigan. Trails End Bay is located just West of Mackinaw City at the Straits of Mackinac. The sandy beach and clear water is perfect for swimming and water sports.

Our two bedroom, 1 bath cottage, includes an open floor plan with a large living room and kitchen with eating area. One bedroom has a double bed and the other bedroom has two twin beds with a futon in the living room to accommodate six comfortably. The kitchen features a refrigerator, electric range, built-in microwave, garbage disposal and dishwasher. The cottage faces West which opens it up to the gorgeous views and spectacular sunsets of this part of Lake Michigan.

The Mackinac Straits Area is the home of three National Historic sites. Mackinaw City attractions include, Thunder Falls outdoor family water park, an unique shopping village with free nightly laser light shows at dusk. There is even a live evening lumberjack show. Mackinaw City is also the gateway to Michigan's Upper Peninsula via the 'Mighty Mac' Mackinac Bridge and ferries to Mackinac island. While in Mackinaw city you can tour the Ice Breaker Mackinac, Fort Michlimackinac or try your luck at one of the local casinos.

EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE

  • 5 of 5
We were satisfied with all aspects of our stay -- in fact, the pictures hardly do justice to this beautiful property. Extremely clean, and a lovely view. Well-stocked kitchen. The owners were very helpful beforehand with our questions, and they clearly take pride in their rental property. The moose decor added extra charm and whimsy. The only drawback was that the bugs are pretty fierce after dusk, so pack lots of deep-woods bug spray! (That's true anywhere Up North, though, during certain times of year.) Location was very convenient if you wanted to go into Mackinac City, but also remote enough to feel "away." We'd highly recc. this cottage and plan to return.

WONDERFUL STAY!

  • 5 of 5
We were welcomed to the cottage very warmly with a very clean and well taken care of home. Of course the first thing you see thru the front door is the amazing Lake MI!! What a glorious trip we had! The cottage was an "open concept" which was perfect for the views of the water and to make it feel bigger than it was. The beds were comfy (huge for us!!) and the rooms were small but big enough for our weeks worth of luggage. The cottage was well stocked with EVERYTHING you could need for your stay. We cannot wait to return next year...

COZY COTTAGE IN A PERFECT LOCATION

  • 5 of 5
The four of us (two couples) had a wonderful stay in Mackinaw City. Our home away from home had everything we needed. It is small but well maintained and very clean inside and out. The beds were comfy and, with the exception of the futon, the living room seating comfortable. The lake view is spectacular. It is located just a few miles from town in a quiet bay on a beautiful Lake Michigan sandy beach. We enjoyed walks on the beach, lounging, reading, and ship viewing. It was a bit chilly while we were there but our feet got wet! On our first evening we enjoyed the fire works in St. Ignace. During our stay we also visited Mackinac Island, Harbor Springs, Patosky, and Sauté St. Marie. All a relatively short distance from our little cottage. The beach at the base of McGulpin Light House, that's just down the road, provided a relatively tourist free fabulous view of the Mackinaw Bridge.
For meals We grilled a couple of times taking full advantage of the kitchen amenities. We also ate out at the Mackinac Grill in St. Ignace, The Gate House on Mackinac Island, Dudley's Deck in Harbor Springs, and Pizza from Mancino's right in town, and there wasn't a bad meal in the bunch. Our favorite fudge was from Joanne's out of all the many fudge places to choose from!
The owners and caretaker are wonderful to work with. We know you will enjoy your stay here just like we did.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the positive feedback about our cottage. We are so happy that you had a wonderful stay in Mackinaw City and that our cottage was part of that experience. It's obvious that you took advantage of the fact that the cottage is close to many of the major area attractions judging from the itinerary that you described in your review.

AWESOME CABIN WITH GREAT OWNERS!

  • 5 of 5
This cute "moose" cabin is on a beautiful bay on Lake Michigan. The beach is sandy and the water is refreshing. The owners are wonderful with their communication and make you feel very welcome...even with a welcome gift. The area offers many sites and is a great place for a vacation.

NICE GET-AWAY

  • 4 of 5
I don't believe I've ever stayed at a property so well stocked, and furnished. Every pot, pan, plastic container you could want was there. Make sure to bring drinking water.

Mackinaw city has turned into a tourist trap, so make plans to explore elsewhere. Speaking of which, no wifi or sprint coverage at the cabin, so I'd suggest planning ahead...including maps. Everything in MC was overpriced by 30-40% so bring your own groceries etc. Did have a nice meal at mama mias pizza. Avoid the Embers, Nonna lisa's was good, but very expensive..$17 ravioli !!, if you do go, make sure you get a deep fried bread stick.
