This unique property is located on an Island in the St. John's River just South of Welaka Fl. The cabin is fully appointed and situated on a beautifully shaded river front lot which affords the opportunity to boat, fish, swim, waterski or just relax on the 40 foot porch and watch the river go by. The Ocklawaha River and Silver Glen, Salt and Juniper Springs are just a short trip by boat. A full service marina is just across the river and many dining and sightseeing opportunities including Sport bass guiding is available as well. Wildlife including deer are often seen on the Island along with aquatic birds and raptors.
Drayton Island was home to many Precolumbian Indians and has midden mounds and other traces of these early civilizations. If you don't own a boat one can be rented or you can drive your car on the island after crossing the ferry. Of course launch facilities and supplies are located conveniently on the Mainland.
Great place to stay. Been here the last 3 yrs. Will be back. Has everything one would need. It is just s described
This property provided a most relaxing, quiet, and restful stay for our family. If anything, time passed too quickly and made the end of our stay feel like an unwanted return to civilization. There was boat access to 3 springs a very short distance away from the cabin. Can't wait to return to this true island paradise.
From the moment we arrived at the marina with our 3 older grand-children ( 19, 17, & 15) we started to unwind and relax. But the ride across to the island with Michael on his pontoon boat is what really did it for us. The property was exactly as described, with everything you needed at hand. When we go back again in the fall, we will be sure to bring enough groceries to cover our stay, as that was the only slight drawback. The drive to the nearest full sized supermarket in Cresent City was about 22 miles round trip, and then back to the island, so plan ahead ! The kids loved exploring the island on foot or on the golf cart, and there was tons of wildlife for them to see. We took them across the lake to Salt Springs where they were able to swim in the clear water and cool off. The fishing could have been a little better, but I'm sure that was because of the water temperature and the lower levels. Michael was a great host and everyone we met was very friendly and helpful, especially Judith.
We will be coming back in the Fall !

We arranged this rental to celebrate my husband's birthday. Upon arrival, the property was just as pictured in the write up. Owner was very friendly, and even let us use his pontoon boat. It is a beautiful area and everyone we encountered were very friendly. The front porch was a great place to unwind in the evening and have morning coffee in the am.i would recommend this property to anyone who wanted a relaxing, quiet place. Submitted by K. cornwell

Our family of 5 went to this beautiful home on Lake George. When I got off the boat at the property I thought I had died and gone to heaven. We were greeted with an expanse of green lawn and large oaks with hanging Spanish moss. The owner had just that day taken down a dead tree and piled the wood in a ready made bonfire for us. That was a big hit with my teenagers. He then proceeded to show them how to split wood and that was another big hit. No pun intended! I cannot begin to tell you how much wildlife we saw while we were there. We saw many alligators in the wild. We swam with manatees at the springs. We saw beautiful birds and snakes. The house was exceptionally comfortable with a cottage feel to it. It is well outfitted. The only problem we had was some septic issues when there was 2days of torrential downpour. The owner was very apologetic and promptly returned our last nights rent to us. This rental is definitely not for everyone. But it was perfect for us. We were away from all the hustle and bustle and stress of daily life. I have often thought if an author was looking for peace and quiet to finish a book, this would be the place for him or her.

The island is teeming with wildlife as well as aquatic birds, Ospreys and Bald eagles.
