Aloha and E komo Mai (welcome) to Hilo Hale. Conveniently located right in Hilo town, this sweet 2 bedroom 1 bath home is the perfect destination for exploring all of the wonders of the east side of the Big Island. Hilo Hale is only a quick 10 minute drive to downtown Hilo, the incredible Hilo Farmer’s markets, museums, sights, shopping, dining and the beauty of the “city by the bay”.
Come discover what we believe to be the last of the old Hawaii. Hilo Hale is located in a very quiet established neighborhood and even though her architecture dates back to a former time, she has been lovingly restored to her former glory. The hale is extremely comfortable with its beautiful living room, large windows with lots of light, comfortable bedrooms and beautiful grassy lawn. There is even a bit of an ocean view from the back yard.
There is a comfortable queen bed in the master bedroom and two twins beds in the 2nd bedroom. Hilo Hale enjoys modern amenities to include washer/dryer, flat screen TV with cable and even high speed internet. Dine inside at the beautiful dining table or outside on the lanai. There is a BBQ to cook up some of that great island fish.
The kitchen is large and quite reminiscent of the history of this hale. There is NO traditional baking oven in this home, however there is a cook top, full size refrigerator and microwave.
From this convenient location, explore Rainbow Falls, Akaka Water Falls Park, the 4 Mile Scenic Drive along the old historic Mamalahoa Highway, the Volcanoes National Park and the beautiful swimming and snorkeling either in Keaukaha or Kapoho.

Great place for 4 people! Loved the airy house and quiet neighborhood. Was a wonderful place to chill during the Merrie Monarch Hula Festival! Even enjoyed the night sounds of the coqui frogs! Aloha from Honolulu! (from our guest book at Hilo Hale)
This is our second visit to Hilo Hale, and we;ve truly enjoyed each time. The house location is ideal, being very close to the town of Hilo, and the house more than fits our needs. The furnishing are comfortable, the rooms are an excellent size, and the home being non air conditioned has plenty of windows that allow for excellent air flows, cooling the house off very quickly in the evening. The supplies with the house are very adequate, including the kitchen and bedrooms.
We've been to the Big Island several times in the last few years, and after renting at Hilo Hale and other homes, we would always want to rent a home rather than stay at a hotel. Hilo Hale fits our vacation plans very nicely. Ron and Mark and Jeana have been very helpful and a delight to deal with.
It was exactly as displayed in the pictures. Large property afforded privacy. Location was close to stores, malls, eating places. Comfortable, relaxing atmosphere. Would definitely like to return again.
This is our 2nd time staying here. We love the proximity to my family (in Hilo), the great space and the tranquility! Mahalo, the BEST Family
We've rented houses in Hilo (Pahoa and Hamakua) and this one is the best so far. It's a cute, clean bungalow in a very quiet residential neighborhood with a beautiful yard. It has been redone with bamboo flooring and carpeting, and new switches and outlets. It has an open floor plan and the bedrooms are a step up from the rest of the house, separating the sleeping area nicely. The internet access was great and the TV was a good size. The kitchen is large and bright. The house has lots of windows, two large ceiling fans in the great room, and is very spacious. It's very close to KTA (awesome local grocery store), Richardson's beach, local restaurants and downtown Hilo. We loved the sunny days and the nightly rain. As expected in Hilo, there are coqi frogs that make noise at night but they like trees and there are not very many next to the house. Also the washer/dryer is actually outside, downstairs and under the kitchen but it's well lit and clean. Overall, it's a nice house in a great location.
