Why the Owner Chose Nashville: We chose this property because of the architect. Braxton Dixons ability to assemble post and beam and stone in connection with the site....absolutely amazing. Many of the same craftsmen worked on building the Johnny Cash house in Hendersonville. Truly a work of art.

  • Our premiere private loft, The Dauphine suite, is like a stone French chateau, with floor to ceiling windows with amazing views of rolling hills and beautiful sunsets. Each end of the loft includes matching balconies with stained glass windows and massive 12' French doors. The floors are 2x16 plank wood heart pine. The furnishings include a couch and seating area, a 40' Flat screen, DVD Player, private bath, luxury linens, robe and slippers, gas fireplace, and a large library of books. Also included in this very romantic and very private suite is a fridge, microwave, and coffee pot. You will never want to leave this amazing retreat.

Notes: Thistletop gives you the feel of a lodge in the mountains of Colorado, with its 4 fireplaces, a media room, large living room with beautiful leather furniture, accented with western and native American art. The large Dining room is lit by an antler chandelier and fireplace. The kitchen is wall to wall windows and has been described by other guests as being in a tree house. Downstairs is the rec room which includes a pool table, foosball, game table, 46' flat screen with DVD player and a wii. Or you can sit at the full bar and watch a ball game on the other screen. Or relax in the hot tub after a work out with our exercise equipment. And best of all....you get a nice, big, hot gourmet breakfast in the morning and complimentary snacks and beverages, all included in your stay!

5-STAR-AMAZING EXPERIENCE!

2012 marked the 5th annual WIFE-LIFE AND WORK get-away for myself and a few buddies. We rolled the dice considering we've never stayed in a b&b and holy........did we hit our point!

Reclaimed interiors + historic architecture + amazing decor + versatile property instantly let us know we found something pretty special and the perfect place for any type of get away.

Gourmet breakfast spread that will not disappoint. Think farm table covered with any preference of protein, pancakes, b'fast casserole, coffee, milk, oj etc. Seriously, anything you can imagine which all somehow manages to be just a "detail" by the end of your stay.

Our hosts did not overlook any details and were refreshing people. Personally, I would want to share Thistletop too if it was my home. The house itself and hosts hardly make you want to leave. We stayed with the intention of spending time in Nashville (only 15 min away) but at every turn (or room in the house) there was something unique to offer.

Rest, Relaxation and Rejuvenation....try this on for size: Hot-tub, downstairs gym, vinyl collection, movie collection, books, reading rooms, exterior wrap-around balconies, floor-to-ceiling windows, fireplace, media room, hillside views and wildlife on property. Every bedroom in the house offer tons of privacy and inspiration for anyone seeking comfort and the perfect home.

I still haven't figured out how Fred and Mary Jane make hosting, at this caliber, seem so effortless and easy. And the crazy thing, I have a feeling we barely scratched the surface of what Thistletop and Fred and MJ have to offer. This is a must people....

We fell in love with Thistletop and their owners. Thistletop was far beyond our expectations. We never once said "this is great if only they had...".
At every turn we found the perfect touch. We even added a one day to our trip after arriving. It was an absolutely blissful retreat for us. The Dauphine suite was simple delicious!!
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Romantic Getaway

The Best Ever

We recently stayed at the Thistletop Inn and enjoyed our best ever experience at a B & B. For a little more than average, Thistletop clearly earns a five star rating. Fred and Mary Jane treat you just as they would want to be treated themselves. We quickly felt at home, and an amazing home at that. The pictures on the website are accurate. If anything Thistletop is even nicer. The property was clean and appointed more thoroughly than one could hope for - Robes, slippers, a pitcher of ice water, beds turned down, board games, cookies, fruits, snacks, books, movies, music and other amenities too numerous to list. Fred's cooking is wonderful and Mary Jane provides the welcoming attention to detail. The bed was wonderfully comfortable and the room was private and quiet. We recommend Thistletop to our relatives and friends and look forward to returning soon.

We booked this inn for my parents anniversary, so review is both 1st and 3rd hand. My experience in making the reservation with both Fred and Mary Jane was awesome in itself. I was immediately put at ease since this was their 1st B&B stay. Even though short, the conversations with each was as if I'd known them forever. My parents gave an excellent report from their stay. Fred made them feel at home as they explored the entire Inn. My father gave thumbs up on the breakfast Sunday morning and said he enjoyed the conversation he was able to have with Fred. My mom fell asleep in a chair without a TV on. That is a HUGE compliment on how comfortable they felt. So all in all, they had a excellent time! Many thanks to Fred for making their stay worth all their 38 years! And for me, I can't wait to have my own memorable stay!

WOW...what a beautiful B&B! We've stayed at 20+ B&Bs over the years and the Thistletop Inn rates number one. We were in Nashville for 4 days to visit family and celebrate our 24th anniversary. The property is absolutely gorgeous, built by Braxton Dickson, a famous Tennessee builder to the stars. The house has every amenity you can imagine but that's not what is special about the Thistletop Inn. The Innkeepers, Fred and Mary Jane, are what makes the place extra special. Their enthusiasm and dedication to ensure you have the best B&B experience is what sets their inn at the top. We were there to visit family and they made us feel like family while we were there. The only criticism I have is that I gained 5lbs from Fred's cooking but that is overcome by Mary Jane's southern hospitality! Do yourself a favor and create an experience you'll remember forever, and stay at the Thistletop Inn. Make sure you get the full special treatment with a song from Tashi and Pearl!!
