Looking for the road less travelled without sacrificing comfort? Come stay in our beautifully appointed, spacious condo on the beach at Los Porticos in Belize. Built in 2009, this condo is located near Placencia village on the Placencia Peninsula in southern Belize.

Belize boasts the second largest barrier reef in the world with hundreds of small islands (cayes) and the diving and snorkelling is superb. Swim in the warm Caribbean waters or if you'd rather, slip into the wonderful saltwater pool, relax on the beach under a cabana, or enjoy breathtaking views from the huge private balcony.

Local tour companies offer sea kayaking, fishing, caving, visits to explore Mayan ruins, or treks through the Belizean jungle to look for any of hundreds of bird species. The Village of Pacencia has shops to explore, many featuring work by local artisans. You can also stock up on groceries if you prefer to do your own cooking in our fully equipped kitchen, or enjoy the great restaurants in Placencia. English is the official language although you'll hear Spanish and the local dialect. Come down for the Lobster Festival, or in time for whale shark season. Whenever you choose to visit, you'll find everyone here is friendly and this quiet side of Belize offers an extraordinary vacation. It's all waiting here for you.

About Roger

We are three Canadian couples who have joined together to share this villa. We enjoy getting away from our cold northern winters, but we've also enjoyed coming down in the summer for Lobster Fest. We love the climate, the smell of flowers in the air and the beautiful water. We hope you'll come and experience it for yourself.

Why Roger chose Placencia

This is a great property in a great location. The villa is spacious, well appointed and steps from the beach. Los Porticos is a well designed property overall with lots of space and lovely gardens. A special events facility, spa and restaurant are due to open in the near future. Our beach extends all the way into the village of Placencia, which has a surprising number of amenities for its size and remains less developed than resorts in the north.

What makes this condo unique

Our location on the second floor, in the second building in from the beach, provides great views of the sea, the pool and gardens. This is our home away from home so we've tried to make it feel that way with books, DVDs, games and artwork from local artisans.

Great Time In Placencia

We arrived at the Placencia airport and a short walk brought us to the well maintained gardens at Los Porticos. The unit was very large and all amenities were of high quality. A huge balcony provided a wonderful view of the pool, grounds and beach which is a two minute walk away. The complex provides free bicycles which come in handy for riding into Placencia and sightseeing the other way to Seine Bight. It is a short 10 minute ride to Placencia or 20 minutes the other way. For exercise, we often walked into Placencia. The first language is English and the locals are very polite and helpful. Our unit at Los Porticos was amply supplied with all modern amenities, flat screen tv, the kitchen was very open and large and provided views of the beach. We walked into Placencia for several meals which were very inexpensive and very good. Snorkeling off the beach in front of the unit was a daily ritual as there were plenty of fish just metres offshore. Walks up and down the beach provided interesting views of the different complexes. We rented sea kayaks in town and kayaking through the mangroves was an excellent time, especially when the cost was only $20 for half a day. We found this to be a very safe community and never felt threatened at any time. Snorkeling and scuba diving facilities are located across the street from the complex and a car rental agency is a short 5 minute walk away. Placencia has the second largest reefs in the world next to The Great Barrier Reef in Australia. My daughter has a scuba diving licence so she went twice and really enjoyed her experiences. This is a great location to relax and unwind by the pool or beach. The manger of this unit is very well informed and helpful as are the residents of this complex. We were often offered rides into town by those who had cars or golf carts which is a popular mode of travel here. We highly recommend this complex and unit for a quiet, safe time by the beach. The water is warm and easy to swim in. A very enjoyable time.

My Favourite Vacation EVER!

This place was gorgeous. We had never been to Belize before and now I have an amazing place to remember it. The condo was clean and spacious, the deck was so big and the view was amazing. I have recommended this place to many family and friends as the town was welcoming and their is so much to see.
The grounds of Los Porticos were amazing and well-kept. The staff was friendly too. We even had the opportunity to snorkel every morning before breakfast as the ocean was right out the front door.
Can wait to go back.

Great getaway!

We had a great vacation staying at this condo in Belize. The pictures don't do it justice. Everything was so nice and new and clean. The furniture and beds were very comfortable.
The pool and beach were never busy and we enjoyed a refreshing dip every day. The water was so clean and clear in the pool and off the beach.
Placencia village offers all the amenities of food, stores and acivities without being overly "touristy". We enjoyed the walk into town every night for supper and the evening's entertainment.

Amazing place to stay!

Had such a wonderful time. The condo was absolutely fabulous, great space, great kitchen and plenty of space everywhere. The deck was especially wonderful.

The beach and pool were also to die for. I would completely recommend this place as a vacation spot. LOVED IT!!
Already have the next trip booked!!
