Islander East Resort is a small gated complex located right ON THE BEACH in Galveston! This condo has direct ocean access with no seawall or busy street between you and the water; just walk right out to the beach over the private dune crossover. The view and location cannot be beat. You literally have the beach to yourself with no crowds and no cars to hassle with. The condo is nice and private yet just 2 minutes from Stewart's Family Beach and 10 minutes from the new Galveston Pleasure Pier and all the fun attractions that are available on the Seawall and the historic downtown Strand District.
Unit 708 offers you one of the most popular floor plans available at Islander East Resort. This 2 bedroom, 1 bath unit features two floor to ceiling walls of glass with breathtaking ocean front views from the 7th floor. There are TWO private ocean front balconies in this unit. One balcony is accessible from the living/dining room and the other from the spacious master bedroom.
The kitchenette has granite counter tops and is furnished with all new appliances including a stove, oven, dishwasher, built-in microwave and a full size refrigerator. The unit is fully stocked with cookware and all utensils including a toaster, coffee maker, blender, pots, pans, plates, silverware and glassware.
There is a wall mounted 42 inch flat screen TV in the living room. The living room media console has a Blu-ray DVD player and a Bluetooth enabled wireless Speaker System, FM Clock Radio and USB Charging station.
All beds (King in Master; Queen in 2nd bedroom) have new pillow-top mattresses. There is also a queen sleeper sofa with a new memory foam mattress in the living room. All linens and bath towels are provided. Guests should bring their own beach towels.
Islander East Resort is a private gated community with free onsite parking. The 9 story complex has a heated swimming pool, lighted tennis courts, a shuffleboard court, two outdoor gas grills, picnic tables, and a lounge area away from the pool. I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed this condo which is located right on the beach!! It was very spacious, and the two balconies with spectacular ocean views were wonderful. We spent lots of time on them enjoying the view! The condo was very, very clean with a comfortable king bed in the master bedroom and a queen bed in the 2nd bedroom. The pictures are very accurate, and if you like the pictures, you will love the condo! The kitchen has a microwave, dishwasher, oven with a stove top, full size refriderator and all the pots, pans and dishes, etc.. Islander East Resort also has picnic tables and gas grills so you can cook outside if you like. The pool area was very quite and not too crowded. Overall, I would totally recommend this condo. Our family can't wait to go back!
Our family of three arrived at the professionally manicured grounds of Islander East to be greeted by the super friendly and helpful front desk staff. We were quickly given a tour and check-in was a breeze. Once in our condo (#708), we discovered a completely upgraded unit with all the amenities of a high-end hotel. The appliances were brand new, the furniture and decor was incredible, and the view of our personal beach was amazing.
This place is definitely for beach-goers since it's right on the tan-sandy beach of Galveston away from all the tourists and crowds. It was perfect for our family, because it was private yet close enough of a short drive to the main Seawall attractions.
We highly recommend unit 708 because it's THE cleanest and most upgraded condo we've ever stayed at on our travels...and we love to travel.
Family of four including two teenagers, 16 and 17, accompanied by my mother-in-law. A perfect unit for our last of the summer hurrah before school; but more on that in a moment.
This was our first use of VRBO and of any privately owned rental unit. Everything from the VRBO unit location services and Owner's on-site management staff for rental confirmation and check-in was flawless. Everyone I spoke with was extremely patient and understanding concerning my initial hesitation and limited experience outside of a hotel reservation system. I will now, without hesitation, recommend the VRBO service, Islander East, and Unit 708 to anyone interested.
Now; to the unit. From the time we entered the gates at Islander East; to check-in at the service desk; to opening the door to Unit 708; to seeing the view through the windowed wall to the gulf; every step escalated our happiness and exceeded our expectations. I can not stress this enough, if the dates are available, this is the unit you want to rent. What a fantastic remodel! From the beach perfect pleasing paint and tile work to the new appliances and furnishings it really is a perfect second home on the gulf. It was more than spacious enough for my mother-in-law who utilizes a walker to get around without trouble and easily accomodated our dinner party with two additional friends staying in another smaller unit. This unit at Islander East is situated on what I refer to as the "calmer - east side" of the Galveston beach where relaxation, water, and quiet is the prime goal - not that you are far from the action; I'm just saying that closer units are available to the seawall boulevard if your goal is to be "in the thick of things" on seawall boulevard. This unit has everything - just fill the fridge and bring your beach towels!
The pictures in the advertisement accurately reflect the unit in it's current state. New, new, new! I will make my future Galveston vacation plans based upon the availability of this unit.

This condo was great. It was hard to believe the furniture and amenities inside were so nice for a beach condo. Loved the beds and bedding (I'm super picky) and furniture seemed brand new. I've stayed at several condos down here and this one is recommended as other furniture hasn't been updated in 15 years it seems in other units. I've also found other units to be missing silverware, cups and basics. This one was loaded. Folks that were staying there were very friendly and great atmosphere by pool and BBQ area. Enjoyed getting groceries with full size fridge and walking back from beach to grab lunch. I'm planning my next trip already for this Unit?
I was able to tour this property the final week of the remodel process. The condo is decorated beautifully! Distressed furniture, 2 large beds, beautiful view from both balconies, large wall mount tv's, and extremely clean. The condo is located beachside. Only a few minutes away from the wonderful restaurants and entertainment that Galveston has to offer. Gated parking. The owners did a wonderful job remodeling this unit.
Galveston Island offers everything in a resort destination – entertainment, shopping and 32 miles of Gulf Coast beaches. Galveston’s festivals, special events and attractions are enjoyable for Islanders and tourists alike. Galveston also has some of the best restaurants featuring the freshest seafood on the Gulf Coast. The historic Strand District in downtown Galveston offers fine dining and endless shopping - and is only a few minutes away for the condo.
Galveston's newest attraction is The Pleasure Pier which opened in May, 2012. It boasts a 1,100-foot entertainment complex built on a pier extending over the waters of the Gulf. The $60 million pleasure pier has 16 fabulous rides including two roller coasters, a carousel and a Ferris wheel. The Pleasure Pier also offers a food court, restaurant, carnival games and other attractions for the entire family.
One of the most popular attractions in Galveston is Moody Gardens. Water your imagination and travel the oceans of the world at the Aquarium Pyramid. Or step into the Rainforest Pyramid with thousands of tropical plants, exotic fish and birds. Explore the mysteries of science at the Discovery Pyramid, and take a rocking and rolling ride through the universe at the Ridefilm Theater. Relax in steaming warm waters and enjoy summer fun all year long at Texas’ first and only heated, indoor waterpark. (Both the air and water are always in the 80s!) The Wasserfest Heated Indoor Season, October through mid-April, features more than a dozen heated attractions in a tropical, heated indoor oasis.
Galveston Island Ferry, located on Hwy 87 (Ferry Road), continues to be one of Galveston's most popular attractions. Riders can park and ride the ferry or drive their vehicle aboard the ferry. Ferries run approximately every fifteen to twenty minutes and are free. The ferry is only 5 minutes from the condo.
Less than an hour away is numerous other attractions including the Houston Space Center, the Kemah Boardwalk and the Gulf Greyhound Park that offers live dog racing year around.
Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Disney and Princess Cruise Lines have all found a home at the Port of Galveston in recent years. Spend a few nights on the beach in Galveston prior to or after your cruise.
