In addition to its big,spacious rooms,this home has 3&1/2 acre lawn with a stocked pond (bass,brim,channel catfish)for fisherman in your group. Super sun room overlooks lawn and pond, Gazebo at pond for relaxing,fishing,feeding fish (food proivided)Very privaate,tree lined but situated close to every important place in Raleigh,Durham,Chapel Hill, Research Triangle area - N C State University, UNC campus & hospital,Duke University campus and medical center, RDU airport,major interstate highways- & easy access to downtown Raleigh, museums & art galleries - this is place to be. Large,eat-in kitchen- adjoining dinette. Wet bars in library & huge family room on lower level. The gazebo is charming setting for weddings & house is large enough for fun reception. An extra plus for reunions and/or weddings is next door neighbor who caters traditional, delicious North Carolina pig pick-in,fried chicken & all the trimmings.

This subdivision was once a plantation. The plantation house still exists & is just 'up the road' from the property on Casttlebrook Drrive. Other: visit well regarded N C Zoo....or take a day trip to 'Straw Valley' home to several of North Carolina's renowned potters & their galleries. Raleigh is situated midway between beautiful North Carolina mountains and spectacular beaches Drive 2 hours west to see mountains or 2 hours east to visit beach and the antebellum city of Wilmington - is still an active port city but most popular attraction is the battleship North Carolina moored across the river from the downtown Cotton Exchange shopping area. Has old South feel. Good restaurants on the water,too.

N C State Campus is about 15 minutes from the property. It is the flagship campus for engineering,textiles and design of UNC system - worth a visit. Just a short drive to Duke University Campus also well worth the drive.

It is a stunning campus (rumor is that Washington Duke took his architect to Princeton and,said: 'build me that') The Duke Chapel, a classic Westminster style, boasts many 'claims to fame';i.e. an organ that took the expert from the Netherlands more than a year to install on the million dollar balcony Duke had constructed to accommodate the organ. Stained glass windows of deep colors - all the blue glass purchased from Blenko Glass & anyone who knows glass, knows Blenko. Don't miss the Sarah P. Duke Gardens that are maintained by many expert botanists so that each season the plantings provide a beautiful display of the flowers of that particular season. Your college basketball fans will know about the Duke Blue Devils and their number 1 ranking year after year. Unfortunately, tickets to Blue Devil games are very difficult to get. If lucky, you may beable to see the Duke Women's highy raked basketball players. Call Duke Sports office to inquire about same.Suday services at Duke. UNC is home of terrific basketball team also.

This property is only about a mile and a half from a city park where tennis courts are available.

As stated earlier, there is sooooo much available in this area that liisting everything here is a bit difficult but information will be made available at the house for your review and enjooyment. The seasonal changes are beautiful.

Surrounded by the city but country 'feel'. fantastic location for access to all important NC sites. Must see old state capital in center of downtown and Queen Anne historic governors mansion. The art museum is a must as well. While you are there go treat yourself to some warm Krispy Kreeme doughnuts & coffee. Photos in process. Sorry about delay.if you are reading about heat wave,no problem as 2 large central air conditioners are keeping house at comfortable temperature!

Charming, roomy home

This is a large, comfortable, charming house, very close to downtown Raleigh but just far enough out to have a big beautiful yard with a pond. A great place to stay if you're going to be in the Raleigh area.

Great Home for NCSU Graduation Activity

Wonderful Home. Lots of room to sleep and entertain. I held a small NCSU graduation party over a weekend for my daughter in December. We couldn't take advantage of the outdoors but there was so much room inside...no need. Thank you very much Norma!

Nice BIG house!!

This house was a great central location for our entire family gathered for Thanksgiving and a wedding weekend. There was plenty of room for 8 adults and the kids to spread out. We had 10 around the dining room table for turkey dinner and the next day added the other table and had 14 all sitting together.
The kitchen is nice and roomy so that we could all be in there helping to fix meals.
The sun room is awesome. The yard, decks and pond provide a beautiful and relaxing setting outside. The neighborhood is great for walking and there are horses just down the street.
The owner provided great customer service, willing to answer lots of questions before and after we arrived.
The location of the house has easy access to I-40, 440 and 540, as well as downtown.
I would recommend this location to friends or relatives.
