Location is everything! The Sweetgrass Room (Room 35) is situated in the heart of historic downtown Charleston and is located between two award winning restaurants, Husk Restaurant (Bon Appetit & Southern Living - Top New Restaurant of the year 2011) and 82 Queen (Iron Chef and Charleston Top 10). It affords easy walking or ricshaw ride to top attractions such as the Gibbes Museum, The Market, The South Carolina Aquarium, The Waterfront Park, The Battery and a whole host of other attractions.

The Sweetgrass Room is an independently run room at the Elliott House Inn in old city Charleston. If you are interested in old world charm with modern amenities, in an ideal location and setting, then consider a stay here. The room features old heart pine flooring, marble tile, granite tops, and scattered antiques.

This is a one bedroom, one bath suite, with a Queen sized canopied rice poster bed, work station, complimentary mini-fridge, coffee station, sitting area, 42' flat screen television, shower jets, make-up vanity with hair dryer and make-up mirror.

The Inn features complimentary bicycles, charming courtyard, jacuzzi pool, and vending. It is surrounded by shops and museums. Garage parking is directly across the street, and an elevator is available for loading and unloading. Experience all that Historic Charleston has to offer the old fashioned way!

My Mom and I just returned from Charleston and our stay in the Sweetgrass Room in the Elliott Inn made for a perfect trip. The room is well appointed with high end finishes and comfy bed. Eric, the owner, was quick to respond with all our questions/requests. The Elliott House Inn is conveniently located in the "hub" of Charleston with everything within easy walking distance. This room is independently owned, so you are unable to enjoy the amenities of the Inn (breakfast, afternoon wine, etc.) But that was no problem, as Eric provided a gift certificate at a restaurant close by which we used toward our dinner on our last night in town. He provides wine glasses, corkscrew and ice bucket, so you can bring your own (which we did) and can enjoy your wine/snacks in the courtyard. The courtyard also offers a hot tub/Jacuzzi which was a nice touch. There are bicycles available though we did not have time to take advantage of them. A mini-fridge and coffeemaker included in the room was nice to have. The Inn is situated between two restaurants, 82 Queen and Husk, but we did not visit them as we spent some time on James Island. A few "secret" places we visited were the Angel Oak and the Melton Peter Demetre Park (you can view the Ravenal Bridge, downtown Charleston and the harbor from here ( a must see). We also went to the Charleston Tea Plantation and Bowens Island Restaurant. All in all, a great trip and the Seagrass Room is PERFECT!

GREAT LOCATION no need for car close walking distance to downtown and market area. Room nicely decorated we felt at home. Really enjoyed ourselves.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Sweetgrass room for two nights over the Memorial Day weekend. The room was perfect for what we needed and the hotel courtyard was very nice. The location could not have been better and Eric was great to deal with. Would definitely recommend.

Highly recommended, a charming room at the Elliot House. Charleston was great and the Sweetgrass is centrally located. The room came with his and her bikes and we were able to cruise all around Charleston. The owner was fantastic, very accommodating due to extenuating circumstances. Cant go wrong with the Sweetgrass Room! The room is on the third floor and there is an elevator in the event you can't or dont want to walk the stairs

Unbeatable Location, Perfect Setting for our Wedding

My wife and I spent a week in the Sweetgrass Room around our wedding. The room itself is perfectly comfortable and, like I said in the title, the location is unbeatable. It's a quiet area that is within walking distance to King Street, the markets, and so many amazing restaurants. I can't recommend this room enough and will certainly be staying again on our next trip down to Charleston.
