We have affectionately named our home “Kai Hale” (Ocean Home), for this connection with the sea. There are breathtaking views over the amazing Fire feature, Resort Pools and Ocean, from within our spacious 583 square foot studio. Our ocean view studio with its additional sofa-bed is considered one of the very finest value studios available. Kai Hale resides within the “inner courtyard”. perfect studio, friendly pool crew

Studio was immaculate including all necessary amenities to make out stay delightful. Great condition, tasteful and so comfortable. Perfect location within the tower and gorgeous views from the deck. Clean and strong AC for deep sleeps after hot days.
The only reason my rating is four stars and not five was due to the cleanliness in the hallways of the hotel. The hallway carpets looked dirty and stained and were not cleaned daily or even every other day. There was two stacked slices of tomatoes left on a desk in our hallway just around the corner from our room. Those tomatoes slices were there for 3 1/2 days. It became a joke for our family betting if they'd still be there continuing to mold and shrivel. The next day someone spilled burnt popcorn in the hallway. We knew it would be days before it was cleaned up. Still there after 2 days and we said goodbye to it on our departure.
Even though the cleanliness wasn't great we loved the pool staff! Very friendly, funny and allowed the kids and parents to have a great time. The pools were very clean inside and the surrounding walk ways.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to review our beautiful studio suite! As you mentioned, the suite itself was clean and immaculate. We have an excellent cleaning staff who actually take pride in their work, have a passion for what they do, have a high attention to detail and don't cut corners. Unfortunately the hallways and common areas are out of our control and are the responsibility of the resort staff. I have forwarded your review to upper management directly at the resort so the appropriate entities can make sure their staff pays better attention to detail. I am at the resort on a daily basis pre-inspecting our rooms prior to guest arrivals and I always see a resort housekeeping person around, so I'm surprised this sort of thing happened and I'm sorry it did because it resulted in a 4 star review for our property for an incident that was out of the control of our company.

Beautiful property

From the moment we arrived at this studio apartment, I knew this was going to be a terrific vacation. The location is perfect in a quiet part of the building away from the wind with beautiful views of the gardens and ocean. The apartment itself is luxurious and perfectly laid out. The bed is divine. My only negative, and very minor, the chairs on the deck were not very comfortable for sun lounging and the quiet pool stood empty all day as it was too cold. However, the other pools were warmer so we did manage a swim. All in all, we had a fabulous time and I would definitely stay in this apartment again

We spent 8 days after a stay at the Four Seasons in Maui, surprised to find it very nice, really good for families. The unit a studio was better than expected, only complaint was very poor lighting in bath room, was necessary to apply make-up on deck or in kitchen and my husband relied on just the disappearance of the shaving creme when shaving. We questioned a couple with a two bedroom, ocean view and they also said bath lighting was very dim, small flaw but annoying. Rental agent chris was very good to deal with.
Be aware unless you are cooking there is only Dukes close, which is not the greatest for dinner. The bar food was better. This complex is well kept and knowing what we're learned from our first stay, I still would recommend especially for families. The addition of the washer and dryer even in the studio was a treat.

Perfection

We stayed here for our honeymoon and couldn't have been happier. The condo was super clean and exactly as pictured. We arrived around 7PM and it was so convenient to be able to walk to Duke's for dinner on our first night. The next morning, we were finally able to see the view from our lanai and WOW, it was just pure bliss. Birds chirping, waves crashing, soft music playing from the open-aired lobby. What could be better? There was also a coffee shop at the resort which was great for breakfast on our first day.

The resort overall is exceptional, many pools and lounge chairs, and the beach is just a short walk away. We also really liked the concierge who helped us decide which activities we wanted to do in our short time-frame on the island.

I would say the only thing that would have made our stay even more amazing would be to have beach chairs in the condo. We ended up renting them for $10/each per day from the pool area.

If we ever get the privilege to go to Maui again, this condo and resort would absolutely be my first choice. I wish we never had to leave!!

Love the Honua Kai

Second time staying in this unit. Unit is very clean, well maintained (This unit looks the same now as it did our first trip in 2010 ) and located perfectly in the inner courtyard out of the wind. The Honua Kai is beautiful, we love it here and recommend it to friends and family if they are making a trip to Maui. We have used the bbq's which are always available, the pools and loungers which are also always available We ate at dukes and enjoyed it very much, and we used the beachwalk everyday . Brooke is easy to deal with and everything from reservation to check out is seamless. A great stay and a great vacation.
