DISHONEST PROPERTY OWNERS!

This place seemed decent & affordable so I booked it for the 4th of July weekend. I originally deal with Lou, one of the owners, & paid for deposit & fees in advance. Lou said he would email me the lock box combo a day before my scheduled arrival date. When that date come, I emailed Lou several times to remind him about the lock box, but got no response. So I make phone calls, after several frantic calls, I finally got a hold of Cindy (the other owner) around 10pm. After hearing Cindy & Lou yelling back & forth in the back ground Cindy finally read the combination to me to which I repeated to confirm.
After a long 10 hour drive I finally arrived & tried to open the Lock Box and it did not work! I called Lou & Cindy numerous time and left them numerous messages but never got a return call. After 1 1/2 hours sitting in front of the property not knowing what to do, a neighbor walked by and asked if we're trying to get in, I told them yes, and they told us they have spare key to the property, because they do cleaning on that property.
The property itself was decent, but just like all rental properties with high traffic, the carpet wasn't that clean with numerous spots, but we did not let that bother us. On our departure date, we cleaned the property pretty well before we leave to insure full refund of deposit.
Upon returning from the trip, I contacted Lou & mentioned to him about the mishap with the Lock Box & told him we had a good time overall. I was willing to overlook the situation with him not providing the combination in a timely manner & that he wouldn't return my calls when the lock box wouldn't open. To which Lou never once said "sorry" for then inconvenience, but simply "I mailed you your full refund"
Well, that was good enough for me, no harm no foul, until I got a call from Cindy a week later (before I receive my refund check) that she had canceled my refund check because there were "SPOTS" on the carpet and that I had 10 or even more people staying at the property.
She said that she had received complains from her neighbors that we were loud and had way too many people at the place.
We only had 6 family members all non-partying, non-drinking, and we all hit the sack by 10pm tired from all day sight seeing! I tried to explain that to her and offered evidence to proof otherwise but she sarcastically rejected it with her hideous laugh.
My WARNING to next tenants
You might get LOCKED OUT!
You will loose your DEPOSIT!
Owner's Response: The cabin is our vacation home which we choose to share with others. It is very disheartening when guests are disrespectful to our home, which doesn't happen very often. On 4/2/11 the renter had a check in time of 3:00pm. There was a problem with the lock box (which has been rectified) so they were unable to get the key. My neighbor came over and gave the renters their key and they were in the cabin before 4:00pm. The renter had a signed contract with us not to exceed 6 guests. He had 10 including himself which was reported to us by 3 different neighbors.
10 guests is too many for a 2 bedroom cabin Because of the problem with the lock box we decided to let this go and just state in our renters log not to rent to this guest again because of his dishonesty. After the renter left we received a report from the cleaning company that there were 2 large stains in the carpet that looked like sodas were spilt with no attempt to clean up.A portion of the renters security deposit was kept, as per the signed rental agreement, to pay to clean the stains in the carpet. We have a renters log at the cabin with dozens of comments from previous guests stating how clean and what a nice place to stay it is. This is the first negative comment we have ever received and I believe it is an invalid complaint. I believe the renter is digruntle because he was caught being dishonest and disrespectful to other peoples property.
Thank you
