I grew up in San Francisco. Love this world class city for all it has to offer.
Mike & Amy purchased this apartment in 2003
It is centrally located. You can walk every where, or take public transit. Our world famous cable car is just right outside of the building.
Union Square, Fisherman's Wharf, Financial District are all within an easy 20 minutes walk, or take the Cable Car.
Great location, clean space, friendly building! The clippers cards we're a great amenity especially with the cable stopping right in front of the building. Super convenient to dodge the hills and get to and from market street. Would recommend to anyone and would stay again.
We stayed at this rental for 7 nights from December 25 to January 1.
We took the super shuttle from the airport directly to the door of the rental which worked out great. Traffic was light because it was Christmas Day and we were one of two groups on the bus and we were dropped off first.
The rental was larger than I expected, however, had an odd layout and was very minimalistic as far as furnishings and decor but it was clean and worked out perfect for our stay. The bedroom overlooks Mason Street which can be loud, especially with the widows open at night, but that did not bother us, and in fact we enjoyed it. The bedroom, also, had an incredible view of the Bay Bridge. We were even able to watch the New Year’s Eve fireworks from the bedroom. The kitchen is stocked with everything you will need and more, although it was always cold because there are only heaters in the bedroom and living area. The WIFI and Netflix worked great.
The rental is in a central location for seeing all that San Francisco has to offer . . .what an amazing city! An easy walk to China Town and North Beach and not a bad walk to Fisherman’s Wharf, etc. The transit cards included with this rental were great . . . we used them several times a day. One of the cable car lines run right in front of this rental on Mason Street and other lines nearby. The Mason line was not running a couple of the days we were there and we found them inconsistent and unreliable, however, very fun to ride when available. We relied mostly on the buses to see as much of SF that we could. . . Alcatraz, Golden Gate Bridge and Park, Coit Tower, St Peters Church, Union Square, Marina area, Lombard Street, Fisherman's Wharf, Ferry Building, AT&T Park, Palace of Fine Arts, USS Pampanito, Old Time Arcade and the Cable Car Museum which is just a couple blocks from the rental, as well as, so many great restaurants, bars, breweries, etc.
The only negatives I can think of: The walls and floors are not sound proof and you hear a lot of noise and movement in the surrounding units especially from above; the bed is really hard; and the building has an odd odor but you cannot smell it once in your room.
I also recommend bringing bags with you . . . California charges for all bags for anything you purchase.
I would recommend this rental and would stay here again.
This was the perfect place to stay for our anniversary trip to San Fran! Great location! The cable car stop is right out front. Just walk outside and hop on. The two clipper passes were a wonderful bonus!
The reason every review is 5 stars is because it really is perfect! The location is centrally located and makes it easy to get to everywhere. The Clipper passes that come with the apartment are a nice perk...take $64. a week off the cost of your trip! One post talks about the noise of the cable car - did not bother us! It stops running at 1am. Even going to bed earlier it did not stop us from falling asleep. It was great being able to jump on just outside the front door and head down to fishermans wharf. Go 1/2 block up and hop on to get to the financial district, russian hill, or futher into chinatown. CLEAN! Agree with all the posts.....did not have to re-clean anything! Comfy bed for mom\dad and our son slept on the sofa bed. Lots of room to move around, kitchen fully stocked, no need to buy trash bags or toilet paper either! (Most places we have rented you are on your own for everything!). The picture of the view is 100%....awesome view from the front window! Mike was very responsive...answered a few texts of mine with general city questions. Have already recommended this listing to our family and friends! If we ever get back to San Fran, will be sure to rent Mike's apartment again. :-)
We loved this apartment. Everything was well maintained, clean and comfortable. It actually was bigger then the pictures made it looked. So close to everything. Cable car out the front door to any part of the city you want to go. Chinatown is about two blocks away with fresh produce daily, not to mention all the delicious Chinese food you could want. Everyone was so nice and helpful that was one of my favorite parts of the city. The kitchen has everything you would need to prepare a meal, except the food. The bed was comfortable, a bit hard mattress but I'm use to that kind. The sofa bed was extremely soft, our son slept on it and is not use to such a soft bed. Water pressure was good, and the tap water was tastey. Newer washer and dryer, both worked fine. The upstairs tenants was a bit loud and woke us up a couple times from the noise.we are not use to apartment living. Out the front of the apartment windows has a beautiful view of the bay bridge which faces east so you get the morning sun, so don't plan to sleep in to late because the room is filled with light as soon as the sun is up. There is just mini blinds on the windows. All in all we had a excellent vacation and would definently recommend this apartment. If and or when we return I would stay there again. One last tip-if you are not use to walking on a incline hit the stairmaster before you go!
First, dealing with Mike was a pure pleasure. Great communication and directions. He made sure to meet us when we arrived, and gave us great directions for around town, parking, and using the transit passes - another perk, the 2 transit passes were really helpful!
The property itself was spacious and CLEAN! It was bright and pleasant, and the view out the bedroom window of the bridge was fantastic. We had two adults and our 13 yr old daughter and it was perfect.
We've stayed at places where we spent the first day scrubbing the bathroom to feel clean - not so here. Very well looked after, and did I mention that it was clean?
Kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook.
Honestly, I'd have given this a 5 star rating, but I never give anything a perfect score - but this was pretty close!
