Guests can hike around the perimeter of the 100 acre Prairie House property to the pier/boat shed where there's a canoe for guest use for exploring the marshy bays of Lake Sinissippi where the bald eagles nest and flocks of white pelicans and sandhill cranes can sometimes be seen. Sunset pontoon cruises and spa services can be arranged, depending upon availability.
Prairie Cottage is a tranquil setting for private getaways, and can be rented together with the Prairie House (Property 321199) to accommodate larger groups of up to 18 guests.

Golfing: There are several fine local golf courses including Erin Hills Golf Course (30 mi), future home of the 2017 U.S. Nationals.
Cycling: The Wild Goose State Trail offers miles of bicycle trails and winds around Horicon Marsh, the largest freshwater cattail marsh in North America.
Bird Watching: The Annual Horicon Bird Festival in May and Horicon International Education Center offer guided bird treks and workshops, and Blue Heron Landing gives pontoon tours of the marsh.
Swimming: For clear water swimming/sand beaches we suggest Lake LaBelle (30 mi) and Pike Lake State Park (30 mi) and Horicon Aquatic Center (10 mi) outdoor water park. Noah's Ark in Wisconsin Dells if 50 mi away.
Fishing: Lake Sinissippi fishery is mostly carp/bullhead/bass/crappy with northern/walleye caught below the dam in Hustisford Village early in the season.
Fall Color Viewing: Holy Hill Monastery (35 mi), highest elevation in southeast Wisconsin is a favorite viewing spot for the fall colors.
Enjoy the local farmers markets, pumpkin and apple picking farms, and themed corn mazes.

Bird Watching: Mother's Day weekend is a great time to visit the Annual Horicon Bird Festival and to view the bald eagles nesting in the bay next to the Prairie Cottage.
The performing arts are alive and well September through May at the Schauer Arts and Activities Center in Hartford (20 mi) where you'll also find the Wisconsin Automotive Museum vintage autos including antique Kissels, the Nash, and a Lionel Train Exhibit. There are many delightful boutiques and restaurants to discover in Hartford and surrounding Villages. Nearby Columbus, where Public Enemy was recently filmed, boasts the largest antique mall in the midwest. Restaurants such as the historic Audubon Inn in Mayville, or Fox and Hounds in Hubertus, create a memorable backdrop for celebrating an anniversary or other special occasion.
