Modern Chalet - Open floor plan with cathedral ceilings.
Full weeks run Friday-Friday. Most rental's require that you leave by a certain time in the morning. As you can expect, most are weekend rentals. We extend the period (in most cases) to 6pm so that you have the entire day to enjoy your stay. This allows the non-outdoor sports participants to use or the skiers/boarders/snowmobilers/bikers not to use to rush to clean the home prior to departure.
Slightly lower rates for parties of 5 or less.

Vermont's best kept secret - Burke Mountain in the beautiful Northeast Kingdom very seldom sees any crowds. They even have a 10 minute lift line guarantee-even on Holidays. With 2,000 feet vertical drop, East Burke offers big mountain skiing in a family friendly atmosphere with 45 trails and glades on 250 skiable acres, 25% novice 45% intermediate 30% advanced. A great learning center, cafeteria, daycare, grill/pub, and contemporary regional cuisine.
My mom and dad loved Burke and the Northeast Kingdom. My dad was an Aeronautical Engineer at Pratt and Whitney—(A United Technologies (UTX) company). They searched for about two years for “a view”. In 1995 they located the prize property. He designed the home and construction began two years later. He designed and oversaw the construction of the house you are considering renting.
Matt purchased this house in 1990
The house was built with 360 degree views. Northern winters and western winds necessitated the planting of 250 trees on the west side for a windbreak. The trees are now about 40’ tall and protect the house. The house is about one mile off Rt 5, five miles from Burke Mountain and seven miles from Exit 22 on Rt. 91. At the top of the paved (yes that’s how the locals knew my parents were “flatlanders”) 100 yard driveway there is parking for about 10 cars including two indoors under the house.
Should power go out, a full-house generator was installed in December 2012.
Just like the description says - Killer views. But that's not all...the house is great and the location perfect. Had a perfect 5-days. Hiked in the Northeast Kingdom, really enjoyed the biking - road biking and the unbelievable mountain biking trails right in Burke. The house offered plenty of room and the owner was incredibly responsive. Highly recommend.
Comfortable hilltop home with spectacular views of nearby valley and mountains. Bedrooms and bathroom on three levels provide a degree of separation for large groups. During cool weather, lowest level is coolest and top floor is hottest. Excellent kitchen facilities, well stocked for cooking and serving. Bathrooms are spacious and hot water is plentiful. Plenty of closets in the bedrooms. No shoes allowed in the house. Two-car garage and plenty of paved parking outside. Grounds are nicely maintained. Owner is attentive and easy to work with. Several stores within a half-dozen miles. In sum, this is a clean and very enjoyable rental home at a fair price.
Thanks again for such a great weekend at your place. We all loved the house and the grounds. The kids had tons of fun playing outside, and there was so much space for them to run around. Our evening campfire full of stars and fireflies. The beds were comfortable, the inside spacious. It really met our needs for all the kids and parents. Considering how many we were, we did not feel cramped.
We will definately be back. We are already talking about a winter trip but also, pretty definately for next year, same time! It was truly perfect!
We spend wonderful 3 days/2 nights for a lab-retreat in this nice property. It was easy to find, on top of a hill with an unbeatable view! In the morning we had a view down on the foggy valleys and in the evening we had full “blood-moon” – amazing! We were only 8 people - but that allowed everybody to have their own king- or full-size bed, plenty of space and bathrooms. Everything was clean, the kitchen and living room has basically 2 continuous sides of floor-to-ceiling windows and is therefore light-flooded. We kept the three glass-slide doors open basically the entire time (they are protected by insect-nets that slide to the side); there is no AC, but a large ceiling fan and smaller ones. The bedroom(s) in the basement don’t have windows, but nobody cared – and actually the 3 guys downstairs slept the longest of us all - so the “darkness” has also its pros. We played badminton and volleyball in the driveway (we brought our own equipment), played football on the hillside, and we even managed to recover the Frisbee that one of us threw about 500 yards into the group of trees on the other side of the dirt-road :-). The kitchen has everything one needs – it has a nice center counter so that easily 6 (or more) people can work in the kitchen at the same time, we used the grill for a nice BBQ evening (including the first s’mores for my 5 international students!), the sofas and chairs are comfi, and of course the pool table was highly frequented! The owner was very nice and easy to communicate with! I would highly recommend this property!
What a wondeful week-end we had at this beautiful house! :) we had plenty of room and Space for a group of friends going biking for the long week end! the house was clean and confortable! The view is absolutly amazing!! The property is very close to Burke mountain, so it was perfect for us because in 5 min we were there ready to hit the trails! :)
Thanks again to the owners who were really nice and easy to reach! Si we had an Excellent customer service! :)
I Would recommand this house to everyone due to its beautiful view, space, convinient location and friendly owner.
Stayed a week with 7 mountain biking friends. Tons of room and great views.
Everything needed around the house was there and in good shape. Lots of bathrooms, great garage space for bike storage and bike work.
If you're coming to bike @ kingdom trails, the climb back up to the house at the end of the day can be a bit daunting as it is quite the hill, we mostly drove down to one of the many Kingdom Trails parking lots and started/ended there. However if you want a challenge and to increase your vertical numbers, the climb to the house is a good option.
Overall the price was right, the owner was very good, and the house was excellent.
Minutes from Burke Mountain and Kindom Trail. Both are highly regarded by Skiers, Boarders, and Mountain Bikers.
