WARNING - BIG HOLIDAY PROBLEM AHEAD!
Many guests have written about their problem with Wanggulay. We feel obliged to share this with you. It begins after settling into Wanggulay and enjoying our complimentary bottle of Verve Cliquot fine French champagne on the balcony perched in the tops of the rainforest. They then begin to relax on our day bed over looking the river below that cuts through the rainforest in the spectacular Barron Gorge. Guests often spend hours in our award winning warm pool with bubble jets and an infinity edge; and then…… they stay! What we mean is they don't want to go anywhere! They often cancel their day tripping plans to spend more time in the surrounds of this magical place. Once guest best described the problem years ago “It leaves a spell on you its Wanggulay Dreaming! ', she said. And now its become an epidemic! The kids are not immune either. We have a kid’s guide, written by kids, that records all the great things to see and do. We give you a walking guide to the secretly located spectacular waterfalls just10 minutes from the front door where you can enjoy pristine swimming in crystal clear fresh mountain water! You have been warned, read on and find out more, unless you’d prefer to spend your days travelling around in a car on your holiday.

THE LUXURY RETREAT
The Barron River flows from the mountains to the Coral Sea as it cuts through the rainforest in the spectacular Barron Gorge. The river widens and the current slows amongst the rocky outcrops and small clearings where families picnic and swim in the cool water.
Sitting on the hillside above the river the luxurious pole home is filled with exotic oriental Balinese furniture, day beds on the balconies, polished hardwoods, elegant fabrics, handsome statues and lush tropical plants. Nearby, the Great Barrier Reef, World Heritage rainforests, the vibrant tropical beaches of Palm Cove, Yorkeys Knob lined with coconut trees and nearby vibrant city of Cairns. Wanggulay is a place to relax and enjoy the tranquility of the forest.

The spacious open-plan living area extends outside to a wide verandah high above the forest floor in the treetops. Bi-fold doors slide back, allowing the large outdoor area to become part of the living room. On hot days, with the doors closed, the integrated air-conditioning keeps the house cool. On the floor below is a smaller living area with a lounge, large screen television and bi-fold doors opening onto a verandah.
Of course you can take your 'living area' outside to the resort-style pool or the deck amongst the trees on the hillside below the house.
A place to dream in the land of the 'dreamtime.
The master bedroom looks out through the dappled sunlight of the treetops with the river down below. Birds sing and play in the branches surrounding the large balcony outside.

Guestbook comments from the manager
Had an absolutely fantastic getaway with 2 other couples for 7 nights in an amazing holiday house with all the luxuries one would expect from this magnificent property. It is as advertised, surrounded by rainforest and tranquil settings. Quite peacful nights spent sitting outdoors relaxing with friends around the pool eating freshly caught Coral Trout cooked on the the BBQ, drinking a cold beer. What more could one ask for. Thank you Wanggulay. A trully magnificent tropical adventure. Highly recommended.
Hi My name is Belinda. We built Wanggulay in 2003. I have lived overseas for many years and Wanggulay is our spectacular home in Australia. I am a Nutritionist and lifestyle consultant and love food.
I recently wrote the Cairns and Wanggulay Guide which contains a comprehensive food section detailing my favourite markets, restaurants and cafes. I have two daughters and they wrote the kids section in the Wanggulay guide too. The eBook copy of the guide is yours when you make an enquiry. I would love to show you our home, perhaps you have already seen it on Australian Lifestyle television or Queensland Weekender.
There are few places which leave you with such a wonderful and unique experience. We are delighted that 10 years of feedback from our guests have helped us ensure that this is a memorable holiday and we have compiled a guide to help you have just that.
