Out & About
*Sausalito is an exclusive neighborhood and an ideal location between the city of San Francisco and nearby nature destinations such as the Napa Wine Country, Calistoga Spas, Stinson Beach, Mount Tamalpais or Muir Woods Redwood Forest.
Walk to downtown Sausalito (5 mins) and enjoy local cafes, restaurants, boutiques, spas and art galleries. Take the Ferry to San Francisco or drive to 'the city' over the Golden Gate Bridge (5-10 mins). (You may consider a cycle ride or a walk over the bridge.)
Local hiking and beaches are also conveniently located in the Marin Headlands right behind the property which is bordered by National Park. Enjoy the Bay Area Discovery Museum for children at Fort Baker at the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge . . . both just a short drive away.
For longer adventures, take Highway 1 for a breathtaking drive as far south as Carmel/Monterey, Santa Cruz, Big Sur or north to Pt. Reyes National Seashore and Mendocino.
**Every year in September enjoy the renowned Sausalito Art Festival! September-October is Indian Summer and is the warmest time of the year marked by beautiful weather, no fog and golden summer days.
Enjoy our love nest where we met and fell in love in 1994!
I am Photographer/Writer, Zumba Instructor & Alternative Health practitioner. Currently enjoying life in Amsterdam and Sausalito with my husband and son. We are a happy couple who enjoy music, travel, cuisine, art, design, literature and new media. The best of times are when we are enjoying life with family & friends. I am honored to share a very important part of my life with my guests. Teresa Hulst
Teresa Hulst purchased this condo in 2008
In 1994, I met my husband at the front door of this apartment on what turned out to be a blind date. It was love at first sight! In 1998, I moved with my husband to Amsterdam, where we currently have our main residence. I was sad to leave my beautiful enchanted home on the hill. The area is fragrant and leafy with water views all around. We had lived a very full and rich life here and I traveled over the Golden Gate Bridge every day to attend the San Francisco Art Institute.
In 2008, I took my 3 year old son to have a look at 'where Mama & Papa' used to live and I noticed a 'For Sale' sign. My husband bought the apartment for me as a token of his love.
We hope you enjoy staying in our very special 'love nest' which has been lovingly renovated and decorated. Everything in the apartment is brand new, but chock full of old & fond memories.
The apartment is situated in an ideal area between the city of San Francisco and the county of Marin where there is much nature and wildlife. It is fantastic to wake up and ask, 'do we want a city day or a country day' and make your plans accordingly. Take a ride to the Wine Country, the Coastal regions with spectacular beaches or have a sophisticated museum and sight-seeing tour in 'the city' as the locals call it.
The Bay Area is famous for its food & wine. You will never be disappointed with whatever cuisine you choose with influences from the Pacific Rim, Mexico, France, Italy and of course, 'California Cuisine' rich with fish, fruits & vegetables usually organic. Shop at 'Whole Foods' for a wonderful California experience, located just 10 mins from the apartment in the relaxed town of Mill Valley surrounded by Redwood trees.
For days when you just want to stay local, everything is within walking distance. Enjoy Caledonia street where the locals shop, eat and relax at cafe's. There is a movie theatre, a park for kids, a yoga studio, Sushi Ran Japanese Restaurant, the new Cafe Cibo, a health food store and an art gallery.
Not to be missed is 'Angelino's' Italian Restaurant on the waterfront with breathtaking views of the city. Browse the galleries after dinner as you stroll home. Perhaps rent a boat or take the ferry and go out on the bay? Remember to dress warmly mornings/evenings and enjoy brilliant hot sun during the day.
For a quiet day in, I would recommend a walk on the hill followed by breakfast at Cafe Cibo, buy some groceries and then home for a nice relaxing bath. BBQ outside in the garden or cook in our fully equipped gourmet kitchen. In the evening enjoy 100's of free movies or play video games on the Sony HDTV by the warmth of the fire.
Whatever you do, you are guaranteed to enjoy this delightful area with so much to offer for every person's taste. We wish you much Joy & Happiness during your holiday.
We spent a week in this wonderful flat, which is located on the rather precipitous slopes of Sausalito CA. Everything was as presented in the property description - spectacular views, quiet upscale neighborhood, beautifully furnished flat, seamless communications with the property owners/manager, etc. The biggest problem we experienced was forcing ourselves to leave after our week was complete. If you want to experience the best of the Bay, Harrison House is a great way to do it.
wonderful!!!! Exactly what we were looking for. Beautiful views, lovely decor, & conveniently close to everything you'd want to visit. Quiet & relaxing. Also, extremely easy to get to San Francisco either by car or ferry. Highly recommended!!!
What a wonderful stay my husband and I had at Harrison House! Very well appointed, beautiful views, spotless! Perfect location in the Bay Area, just a fun ferry ride over to San Francisco. Very quiet, peaceful building as well. We had a very memorable vacation, on the go everyday from Pt. Reyes to Carmel to the breathtaking coast of Big Sur! Sausilito is gorgeous, views everywhere you look. We were fortunate to have beautiful sunshine everyday of our trip. Highly, highly! Recommended! Teresa is great to work with and Lupe as well. Loved our gift basket, great treat after a long day of travel. Thank you for a vacation we will always remember!
Stayed at Harrison House 6 days for a Tiberon wedding and so glad we did versus staying at the hotel. Booking and communication was great. Condo was 2 levels up from downtown Sausalito so you get a great view of the bay and very convenient to downtown Sausilito right by the ferry dock(bring your walking shoes and be prepared to climb the stairs). Condo is located on the second floor along with 3 other condos, so you have to climb some steps, very clean and comfortable for the 3 of us, first class amenities and the welcome basket from one of the local bakeries was delicious (we went and purchase more for the rest of our trip). Convenient drive to downtown San Francisco and places North. Very quiet neighborhood and nice outdoor area. Highly recommend this condo over a hotel. You will not be disappointed. Looking forward to returning.
This was a nice place and not far away from Sausalito Downtown. The apartment was comfortable and quiet.
We learned later in our stay at this hillside "nest" that we were just beyond the area of Sausalito referred to as the Banana Belt. Researching that phrase will provide a short side trip to understanding the complex weather aspects of the Northern Bay towns and hills. Having left the cold, rain of the Mid Atlantic, we arrived to a warm and beautiful Sausalito for an event that, of itself, would have been one of our most memorable. However, the accommodations of Harrison House exceeded expectations. Its second floor location looking down over the town and across the Bay provided a spiritual link to the surrounding properties. The home was outfitted with well-suited appliances for cooking, which, we did not need to use because of our proximity to a variety of ethnic restaurants and easy access to San Francisco. The two bedrooms were very comfortable as were the well-appointed bathrooms.
Perhaps just as important, was the responsiveness of its owner, who, although a continent away, was always responsive to any need or question. Given the choice of its availability in the future, we will not hesitate to stay a second and third time.
San Francisco Sights & Nightlife, Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, Napa Wine Country, Muir Woods Redwood Forest, Beaches (Stinson Beach), Highway 1 along the California Coast, Carmel, Golf at Pebble Beach, Monterey Aquarium, Big Sur, Yosemite National Park, Calistoga Spas, Hot Air Balloons, Pt. Reyes National Seashore, Whale Watching, Mendocino County, Sequoia National Park, Lake Tahoe for skiing.
