We have lived on Lake Hawkins for over 10 years in a fabulous log home and my neighbor decided to sell her little weekend place. So with a little TLC and my wife's creativity, we fashioned this great little cottage into something that looks like it belongs on a Montana river or off the coast of Maine. Its pitched ceiling, exposed beams and a tastefully-decorated fishing motiff, just feels like you're miles from everything.
We had the one bedroom cottage and it was perfect. Everything was clean, neat and close to town. We enjoyed pizza at the Italian restaurant right down the street and Rickys in Hawkins was excellent on Sunday. We also fished and rode our bikes. The most fun and relaxing was sitting on the porch watching the squirrels and birds. We couldn't have asked for a better weekend. We hope to be back and get the larger cabin and bring our kids.
We loved everything about the cottage and the area in general. From fishing on our own dock to roasting smores over our own fire pit - we couldn't have asked for a better lake experience. The property owner Allen was extremely accommodating and attentive as well. Thanks again, we will absolutely be back for a another trip this summer.
This was a fabulous cottage, the lake was beautiful this time of year. I slept like a baby in the queen size bed so I am not sure about the other review saying it was uncomfortable. The Manager's were as always very friendly and rapid fast with deposit refund. Property is very well maintained WE WILL BE BACK!! As a side note we went to Tyler for the Rose Garden which is beautiful this time of year also, and ate at Daniel Boones the Catfish is Great!!
Beautiful area, friendly people, cute clean house. We love the Italian restaurant down the road.
A delightful lakeside cabin with all mod cons which was clean, spacious and comfortable. With a nearby Italian restaurant offering great food at a great price, gas BBQ on the deck, heating and air conditioning, it was a really relaxing stay. The owners are next door but inobtrusive. It was just what we we were looking for. If we come back to Texas, we'll be back
We really enjoyed our weekend at the cottage even though it turned rainy and cold. The first day was beautiful for sitting on the dock and reading. The lake was very calm and serene! It turned windy and cold the second day but we still had a great view from all of the windows. We loved watching the squirrel steal food from the bird feeder then scamper away into the woods behind the cottage! The Italian restaurant just down the road was a great choice for dinner. This was just the right distance for a weekend away and we will definitely return!
