North Truro is one of the few remaining largely undeveloped towns on Cape Cod, pristine, and heath-like. About two thirds of the town is National Seashore and cannot be developed, and the rest is restricted by zoning. There are no big box retailers. The light is renowned, and has been sought out by artists for decades, including Hopper, whose studio/ house was in Truro. The beaches are glorious, and not crowded even in August. Galleries and theater and restaurants serving fish and vegetables caught and grown locally are plentiful. Truro and sister Wellfleet are quiet and lovely, while nearby Provincetown is fun. Biking, whalewatching, kayaking, hiking through dunes and marshes, swimming in the ocean or Cape ponds, surfing, birding at a nearly Audobon Center, kiting and fishing are fun activities.
Other Activities: Whalewatching, kayaking, clamdigging, birding, Audobon center: walking and boating tours
