Photos and Description of the Auburn vacation house rental
6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms + detach cottage (Total sleeps 12)

Amidst the rolling hills and dramatic Sierra Foothills, this spacious turn-of-the-century 4,100 sq ft home on five rustic acres is within walking distance from Folsom Lake. Located in Newcastle, California this historical home has a classic veranda with swings and rocking chairs.

Enjoy the working fruit orchard with over 200 trees with multiple varieties of almond, apple, apricot, cherry, grapefruit, lemon, lime, nectarine, orange, peach, pear, persimmon, plum and tangerine.

Enjoy as well the refreshing swimming pool (unheated) with outdoor shower, tennis court, basketball court, ping pong table, tetherball, horseshoes and plenty of bicycles. There's a separate pool house with pool toys, his/her changing areas and a bathroom.

The property sleeps 11-12 comfortably (4 bedrooms in the main house and a guest cottage). The air-conditioned home is decorated in a charming European style with plenty of comfortable reading nooks and quiet spaces along with five fireplaces (non-working). Enjoy the billiard room complete with vintage pool table and plenty of kid's games. Bike to downtown Folsom or old town Auburn and experience gold rush history along with fine dining, antique shops and boutiques. Nearby, there are horse stables, riding trails, wineries, golf courses, whitewater rafting, water-skiing, canoeing, fishing, camping and kayaking . We also have a new standing paddle board that is perfect for Folsom Lake. Tahoe ski resorts are an easy drive. A caretaker couple live on the property.

Our family and siblings lives in Southern & Northern California. We have been coming to 'The Ranch' since we were kids and my father came when he was little. Once you have experienced the rustic charm, you will see how special the place is and will want to come back again. The ranch is a place where time stops. It's like stepping into a Norman Rockwell painting.

This home was passed down from our grandfather and has been in our family for four generations. It has some amazing memories and is a great place to relax and get away from the busy activities of daily life. Much of the furniture is over 100 years old and the home has a timeless elegance. It is only a couple hours from San Francisco and Lake Tahoe so is centrally located.

In the main house we have four bedrooms, three bathrooms ; the Master bedroom has a King bed and the other three bedrooms have one set of twin beds each for a total of seven beds. Two of the bedrooms are adjoining and share a bath, the Master and the back bedrooms have their own full bath.

We have five adult sleeping bags, four child’s sleeping bags and two full size air mattresses, two twin air mattresses plus blankets and pillows for everything.

The bungalow, or 'Honeymoon Cottage' as it’s called, has a bedroom with a king size bed and a sitting room with two pull-out sofas with a single bed in each. It has a small bathroom with shower but no kitchen.

The area has beautiful rolling hills for running or biking. There are a few golf courses close by and you are 10 minutes from Folsom Lake.

We have a full regulation tennis court, with an informal half basketball court, ping pong table and horseshoe pit. We have regulation horseshoes and plastic ones for the kids. If you are serious about tennis or table tennis, you may want to bring your personal rackets or paddles, although we do have older ones.

The large swimming pool has a ‘springy’ diving board and is sparkling clean and inviting. We have pool towels, a blow-up toddler pool for the little ones, some pool toys and floats, including some child friendly floatation devices but you may want to bring any favorite water toys and plenty of sun screen lotion.

We have a number of other things here you may enjoy including everyone’s favorite, the orchard, which has nearly every variety of fruit available; all kinds of citrus as well as many varieties of almond, apple, apricot, cherry, grapefruit, lemon, lime, nectarine, orange, peach, pear, persimmon, plum, tangerine and more! While here, you'll never have to buy fruit at the store. You and your family can pick your own fresh fruit off the tree. You can even take a box home with you. In the summer, you can pick fresh blackberries to your heart's delight. Perfect for blackberry pie. Folsom Lake is only a few minutes from the Ranch and you can rent horses and boats. We can help with that and there are a number of interesting local attractions, restaurants etc. we can recommend.

Note we do not do any weddings or large events.

Beautiful stay at the Ranch!

Submitted: February 14, 2013 Stayed: February 2013
Seeking a change from the standard hotels in the Sacramento area, we opted to stay at this beautiful estate during a recent business trip. The Ranch comfortably housed all 10 of us (and as the lone female, I even got my own cottage!)

We had the most wonderful week at Anthony's beautiful home. It was a tranquil escape from our busy days. Can't wait to come back in the summer. It was great to have the caretakers onsite in case we had questions or wanted to borrow binoculars :) This is an awesome location for kids, with tons of outdoor activities, pool, tennis court, orchard, the works. And you won't believe the stars at night...

The Ranch, An Idyllic Place

5 of 5
Submitted: January 29, 2013 Stayed: June 2012
When we arrived at the Ranch we knew we were at a special place. It's as if time stopped and we could smell the roses (or abundance of fruit from the orchard). The grounds of the Ranch are amazing - there are orchards of blackberries, blueberries, apricots, grapefruits and many more types of fruit. There is a swimming pool with a diving board and a tennis court with a basketball hoop that provided hours of fun for the kids. The best part of the grounds of the Ranch is the sprawling porch where we watched our kids play on the vast green lawn and tree swing. The 100 year old Bunyan Bunyan tree is also a sight to see. Playing ping pong on the porch was also a family favorite. If you happen to take the 3.5 mile round-trip walk to Folsom Lake, be sure to spot the cows, goats and emu. The Ranch offers tons of old-fashioned fun!

The Ranch House is equally as charming. The owners have really maintained its integrity. While it has all the modern conveniences, we felt as though as it was the same as it was 80 years ago. The rooms are well-kept and clean and we have never slept as well as we did at the Ranch - perhaps it is the black-out shades in the bedrooms or the utter lack of city noise!

Also, every meal we ate at the Ranch was amazing. We think it is the local produce (you have to check out Newcastle Produce!) and the Ranch water and air. But, by far, the best thing we ate was the s'mores that we roasted on the outdoor fire-pit.

The Ranch is a MUST STAY!

What a great family time we had

5 of 5
Submitted: January 21, 2013 Stayed: January 2013
Our four generation family of 12, had a great time. Our 91 year old father and 6 month old great grand son both loved it. The best on this very cold weekend was the dinning room. Lots of laughs with the good food prepareded in the well supplied kitchen. We played cards, told stories and eat at that table. Enough room in the big house for the sports fans to watch tv and young ones to invent new games for the pool table. Thanks for keeping it with the feel of another time. We look forward to a summer trip some time when we can playin the pool!

My family and I have stayed at this wonderful property on numerous occasions. Our family trips to this ranch have been some of our favorite trips ever.
The house is large and the property is impressive.
Our kids have spent endless hours playing in the swimming pool before hanging out around the fire pit as the sun sets on another fun filled day.
The property's location has awesome with a lake nearby, horseback riding, and numerous other fun adventures.
We have driven to the ranch but other times we have flown into Sacramento.

Ranch trip

5 of 5
Submitted: January 17, 2013 Stayed: July 2012
What a great time we had at the ranch. With the tennis court, fruit orchards, and pool (and the ultimate test of strength contests that took place therein) there was so much for everyone to do. We also loved being so close to the lake and our kids are still talking about being dragged around the water on the inflatable hot dog.

This property is obviously very special to your family and the attention you've paid to its upkeep is easy to see. We look forward to coming back for many summers ahead.
