Overview

Auburn House Rental Photos and Description

6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms + detach cottage (Total sleeps 12)

Amidst the rolling hills and dramatic Sierra Foothills, this spacious turn-of-the-century 4,100 sq ft home on five rustic acres is within walking distance from Folsom Lake. Located in Newcastle, California this historical home has a classic veranda with swings and rocking chairs.

Enjoy the working fruit orchard with over 200 trees with multiple varieties of almond, apple, apricot, cherry, grapefruit, lemon, lime, nectarine, orange, peach, pear, persimmon, plum and tangerine.

Enjoy as well the refreshing swimming pool with outdoor shower, tennis court, basketball court, ping pong table, tetherball, horseshoes, cornhole and plenty of bicycles. There's a separate pool house with pool toys, his/her changing areas and a bathroom.

The property sleeps 11-12 comfortably (4 bedrooms in the main house and a guest cottage). The air-conditioned home is decorated in a charming European style with plenty of comfortable reading nooks and quiet spaces along with five fireplaces (non-working). Enjoy the billiard room complete with vintage pool table and plenty of kid's games. Bike to downtown Folsom or old town Auburn and experience gold rush history along with fine dining, antique shops and boutiques. Nearby, there are horse stables, riding trails, wineries, golf courses, whitewater rafting, water-skiing, canoeing, fishing, camping and kayaking . We also have a new standing paddle board that is perfect for Folsom Lake. Tahoe ski resorts are an easy drive. A caretaker couple live on the property.

Our family and siblings lives in Southern & Northern California. We have been coming to 'The Ranch' since we were kids and my father came when he was little. Once you have experienced the rustic charm, you will see how special the place is and will want to come back again. The ranch is a place where time stops. It's like stepping into a Norman Rockwell painting.

This home was passed down from our grandfather and has been in our family for four generations. It has some amazing memories and is a great place to relax and get away from the busy activities of daily life. Much of the furniture is over 100 years old and the home has a timeless elegance. It is only a couple hours from San Francisco and Lake Tahoe so is centrally located.

In the main house we have four bedrooms, three bathrooms ; the Master bedroom has a King bed and the other three bedrooms have one set of twin beds each for a total of seven beds. Two of the bedrooms are adjoining and share a bath, the Master and the back bedrooms have their own full bath.

We have five adult sleeping bags, four child’s sleeping bags and two full size air mattresses, two twin air mattresses plus blankets and pillows for everything.

The bungalow, or 'Honeymoon Cottage' as it’s called, has a bedroom with a king size bed and a sitting room with two pull-out sofas with a single bed in each. It has a small bathroom with shower but no kitchen.

The area has beautiful rolling hills for running or biking. There are a few golf courses close by and you are 10 minutes from Folsom Lake.

We have a full regulation tennis court, with an informal half basketball court, ping pong table and horseshoe pit. We have regulation horseshoes and plastic ones for the kids. If you are serious about tennis or table tennis, you may want to bring your personal rackets or paddles, although we do have older ones.

The large swimming pool has a ‘springy’ diving board and is sparkling clean and inviting. We have pool towels, a blow-up toddler pool for the little ones, some pool toys and floats, including some child friendly flotation devices but you may want to bring any favorite water toys and plenty of sun screen lotion.

We have a number of other things here you may enjoy including everyone’s favorite, the orchard, which has nearly every variety of fruit available; all kinds of citrus as well as many varieties of almond, apple, apricot, cherry, grapefruit, lemon, lime, nectarine, orange, peach, pear, persimmon, plum, tangerine and more! While here, you'll never have to buy fruit at the store. You and your family can pick your own fresh fruit off the tree. You can even take a box home with you. In the summer, you can pick fresh blackberries to your heart's delight. Perfect for blackberry pie. Folsom Lake is only a few minutes from the Ranch and you can rent horses and boats. We can help with that and there are a number of interesting local attractions, restaurants etc. we can recommend.

Note we do not do any weddings or large events.

Incredible Stay at the Ranch

  • 5 of 5
I can't speak highly enough about our visit to the Ranch. Anthony was pleasant and easy to work with when booking our visit. The online description is accurate but the house and its amenities are even better than you would expect. You really don't need to bring a thing with you since it it complete with plenty of beds (and aero beds, sleeping bags, misc bedding), bikes for all ages, cornhole, rackets, items for larger scale entertaining (platters, pitchers, etc), the list goes on. The house was very well maintained and the period details are incredibly unique.

We were a group of 6 families (ranging in age from 18 months and up) there to celebrate my husband's birthday. All of our needs were met (from floaties for the pool to carafes for coffee to accommodate a crowd) and everything exceeded all expectations. The property is huge…the kids loved picking fruits in the orchard and swimming in the pool (though brisk, it didn't stop anyone from taking a dip). We didn't actually leave the property and could have happily stayed there for a long, long time! Already scheming an excuse for another visit!

Excellent weekend for multi-family get-away

  • 5 of 5
I have just come back from a weekend away with 3 families staying at Green Hill Ranch. First off - ignore the recommendations for doing anything outside the property. There is so much there we left feeling disappointed we didn't have enough time to check everything out. From tug-of-war, to sack racing, to badminton, to tennis, to spring board diving, billiards, backgammon, fruit picking, horse shoes. . . the list goes on. They really have thought of every possible way of keeping a large multi-age group entertained.

The house itself feels like a time warp - but with everything you could need. The kitchen has every gadget - there's even an ice cream maker.

In renting the place Anthony was attentive and helpful. Terry the onsite property manager was helpful and invisible at the same time.

Over the past few years our group have rented in Sonoma - the various properties have been considerably more expensive and half as fun.

It's also worth pointing out that the pool is gated. We had a few youngsters with us and we felt more than happy to let them roam. We did need to move some of the decorative items in the house out of the reach of little hands - just in case.

Overall it was a blast and we are already booked in for 2015.

Could Not Be Better.....

  • 5 of 5
From the moment I spoke with the owner Anthony, I knew that there was something special about this place! It did NOT disappoint!! This is a magnificent property - spacious, classy, restful, and comfortable. No detail is left undone. Our large family reunion was so pleased with our 5-night stay... not one complaint! ( Miracle!!) Pool, tennis courts, toys, orchards, Ping-Pong, and it goes on and on! The caretaker of the property was helpful and friendly and dealing with the financial end was simple and professional. I love, Love, LOVE this property!! Thank you again, Anthony and Terri!

Great location for family reunion!

  • 5 of 5
I highly recommend this place. My family had a great time and the owner is awesome! It was a fabulous location for our family reunion and we had a fun time! The owner and caregiver provide excellent customer service that can't be beat. We loved the swimming pool and the large dining room table that was big enough for our whole family! It's a big place and more than met our needs. We left a few things there and the caregiver was kind enough to let us know so we could pick them up. She even offered to mail them which I thought was very considerate. The cottage is great too!

a perfect ranch for family reunion

  • 5 of 5
less than an hour away from Sacramento but a world apart ... beautifully furnished home with tons of history and antique furnishings. Billiard room was the highlight of our family gathering as it was too cold to swim the time we were there. Plenty of Satsuma mandarins to feed our vitamin C needs. Lots of room for dogs to wander around. The front porch was a delightful place to sit and chat any time of day. Lovely wood-paneled dining room adjacent to well-stocked kitchen provided a stately gathering hall for everyone to check in at the beginning and at the end of day. Owner and caretaker are great to work with.
