Slice of heaven close to everything
My husband and I and our two young children stayed at Twin Birches for eight nights at the end of August. We had an incredible time and enjoyed everything about this house and the area. Lisa was fantastic to work with and very responsive both before and during our stay. The house, yard and pool are fabulous: everything is very tastefully decorated and meticulously maintained. We loved the gorgeous hardwood floors, expansive windows to enjoy the mountain views and fresh VT air, beautiful carpets and decor, warm down comforters, and generous supplies of soft towels. We cooked daily in the well-stocked kitchen and enjoyed burgers on the barbeque. The house was totally private with no neighbors in sight. Our kids enjoyed playing in the yard and cooling off in the pool. Our toddler also loved the new ramp to the front door!
We found tons of activities in the area including weekly farmers markets in Dorset (3-5 minutes away) and Manchester (10 minutes), walks and hikes in Merck Forest, visiting farms and feeding the animals, Bromley's mini-golf and summer amusement park, the adorable (and large) Northshire Bookstore in Manchester (with a great cafe), swimming and making sand castles at Emerald Lake (there's a small playground and kayak/canoe/paddleboat rentals there, too), and watching the swimmers dive 30 feet at the old Dorset Quarry. We had great kid-friendly meals at Northshire, Graze, Cilantro, Zoey's Deli, the Manchester Deli & Cafe, Wood-Fired Pizza Co, and The Perfect Wife (yum). Everything we needed was within a 5-10 minute drive.
We can't wait to come back to Twin Birches in any season. The house could easily accommodate two families. Two of the bedrooms have king beds, one bedroom has two twin beds, and one has two sets of bunkbeds. There are two additional twin beds in the rec room. With four bathrooms, two living rooms, and a large kitchen, the house has tons of room. The property caretaker came by almost daily to clean leaves out of the pool, empty the recycling, take the trash, etc.
