ELEGANTLY REMODELED OCEANFRONT HOME IN WALKING DISTANCE FROM HOLIDAY ADVENTURES!

I suggest getting a car rental while your on the Island so you and drive around exploring. The following is the rental car agent that I use when I'm there. They have a desk at the Airport so that after you collect your bags you can just get the car. Ask them for a map of the Island. You could also take a taxi and work out a deal where you call him from the house when you need a car. When you exist the airport you can drive around the island through all the little villages to get to the House in Sao Mateus or you and take the Via Rapida (highway that crosses the Island…faster). Either way you want to follow the signs leading you to 'Angra' which is the city and once you are close to 'Angra' look for road signs to Sao Mateus. The way to the house is easy because it is right on the Port and you will see it as you drive along the coastal road to Sao Mateus after Angra.

My favorite restaurant is the Baira Mar which is also on the Port just as you make the left on to the Port. There are two other little restaurants in the area. If you are walking toward Baira Mar you will see stair going up on your left…follow them and you a will see a little bar café (Bahiga Shaya..that maybe spelled wrong)..inside is another cute restaurant that makes amazing soup and grilled squid as well as hamburgers and so on. The other place is further a head and directly across from the church on that road. This is a great lunch place and is next to the most amazing ice cream shop. Baira Mar also delivers…the menu is in the cutlery drawer with the number. Their fish soup is to die for.

You can park on the port but we have 2 parking spots just above the port. So, if you drive to the end of the port and make a left, then another left behind the port you will find parking at the top of the stairs. Walk down the stairs to the house call 'Casa Santo Antonio'. If you park on the port then walk up the stairs to the house. Please know that the house at the top of the stairs usually has ladies working in fishing lines in the garage and they all speak American english should you need any help. Please, know that most people on the Island speak a bit of English and most restaurants and shops will have an english speaker.

Please also try out the Ladies Association shop also near Baira Mar and next to one of the 2 small grocery shops on the port (the other is on the other side near the gas station. There is a great place to see hand make gifts the village ladies make and sell (Helen is usually in there…she also speaks english). They have the most beautiful embroidery.

If you drive a bit past town, past the church going toward Santa Barbara you will find a great swimming area. There are many around the Island. The other one I really like is on Biscoits but you need a car to get there because it is on the other side of the Island.

Please let me know when you will be arriving. I will give you the number of my caretaker, so she can meet you at the house and show you how to use the appliances. She does not speak much English but she will have help. They will come once a week to clean the house included in you price.
