The Bremerton Harborside and Louis Mentor Boardwalk is an easy stroll with magnificent views across the waterway. The Harborside is located next to the ferry terminal along beautiful Sinclair Inlet. Enjoy the fountains and wide plaza while watching maritime travelers and marine wildlife.

The USS Turner Joy is a floating museum operated by the Bremerton Historic Ships Association. Moored at the north end of the boardwalk, the ship can be explored topside and below decks. She is the last of the Forrest Sherman class destroyers, built in Seattle & commissioned in 1959, decommissioned in 1982. The tour also includes a Vietnam POW memorial.

Kitsap County Historical Society Museum, located just three blocks from the ferry terminal, reveals the rich history of Bremerton and Kitsap County. Museum exhibits include a model of a logging camp and scale models depicting early storefronts. Rotating exhibits display various aspects of the county's history.

Bremerton has a designated arts district in the heart of downtown. Space Needle

Pacific Science Center

Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2012 (the Space Needle also turns 50 in 2012), the Pacific Science Center continues to engage visitors – especially young ones – through a variety of personal experiences. Children gravitate to the Insect Village and Body Works (where Calorie Bikes calculate energy generated), but the biggest draw may be the Tropical Butterfly Village, where those wearing yellow and red easily attract fluttering friends.

EMP Museum

Formerly called Experience Music Project | Science Fiction Museum, the dramatic, fluid lines of the Frank O. Gehry-designed building that houses both museums is a must-see in and of itself. Climb aboard a space station simulation and then have a ball with sci-fi memorabilia, movie costumes, photos and hands-on exhibits. Bounce to performances shown on the world’s largest indoor video screen and then channel your inner Jimi Hendrix (a Seattle native) as you rock out to your own composition in Sound Lab.

Seattle Aquarium

The 7th most-visited aquarium in the United States, the Seattle Aquarium features more than 380 species of birds, fish, invertebrates and marine mammals. Visitors can gently touch certain marine animals in the Life on the Edge tide pool or talk with aquarium divers in the Underwater Dome, a spherical undersea room surrounded by 400,000 gallons (1,514 cubic meters) of water.

Museum of Flight

Looking like the fanciest airplane hangar ever made, the Museum of Flight doesn’t disappoint. Exhibits include the first Air Force One aircraft and the original Boeing manufacturing plant. And you’ll be looking up, with jaw dropped, in the six-story T.A. Wilson Great Gallery, home to 39 historic, full-size aircraft, many of which – including a Douglas DC-3 – appear to be flying by.

Pike Place Market

This historic market, now more than 100 years old, was designed to bring regional farmers and consumers together. Over the past century, however, it has also grown into one of the most popular things to do in Seattle. The market is a feast for the senses, with salmon flying, flowers in a riot of color, and the heady aroma of freshly baked goods. Ballard Locks (Hiram H. Chittenden Locks)

Thanks to Army Corps of Engineers district chief Hiram Chittenden, boats have had an easy route from Lake Union and Lake Washington to the Puget Sound for nearly 100 years. Today, visitors atop swinging walkways watch the vessels’ progress and also have a special viewing window for the fish ladder – a 21-step structure that helps fish safely move to and from saltwater to freshwater.

To visit the sites listed above that charge admission fees, use a Seattle CityPASS and save nearly half off combined admission. Plus, CityPASS holders avoid some ticket and entry lines, which means less time waiting and more time doing. This property is located just a block from the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Naval Base Kitsap. We are also in walking distance to the Seattle Ferry making this location perfect for visitors with or without transportation.

A Great Place to Stay

This was a great place to stay. It enabled us to avoid spending a month in hotels while we waited for our house to close. We were able to cook our own meals and do our own thing without having to commit to a long term rental agreement.

Would definitely recommend this to people who are temporarily moved to the area or to people who are in between houses.

We had a wonderful time here. The housing was clean and comfortable with very easy access to the Bremerton ferry station. It is a prime location that is quiet at night. Would definitely stay there a again.

A very pleasant retreat

We stayed here for 7 days in August, with 2 very hot 95 degree days. The apartment was a cool place to retreat from the unusual heat, and has every convenience provided. It is right on a high traffic road, but that means a bus runs outside right down to the ferry dock so we were able to use the ferries both to Seattle and to Port Orchard. I loved seeing the little girls coming back by ferry from Pike Place Market in Seattle with huge bouquets of fresh flowers. By walking a half block, we were on quiet streets, which we found safe to walk at night, to see movies at the huge new movie theater or meet friends for dinner at several waterfront restaurants. It really is the perfect place to explore the Puget Sound region. There is a car rental agency within walking distance, but we didn't need to use it.

Of the 6 homes I've rented through craigslist and airbnb, this was the best as far as being clean, quiet, and exactly as advertised. Renate was very kind and helpful to us, and we will recommend her to our friends. Thank you!

Customer service makes all the difference

My family relocated on military orders to Bremerton. Our long term permanent rental home availability required temporary (month long) lodging. From our initial email exchanges with Gateway owner/manager Renate, she was always gracious and accommodating. She quickly worked around our schedule to extend from 4 to 6 weeks on short notice when our long term lease experienced last minute complications. During our 6 week stay, Renate was constantly improving an already attractive property. Laundry facilities were clean, easy to use, and always available. The apartment was furnished with everything we needed for an extended stay. The property was safe for our 3 year old toddler. The property was great for our needs, but what has me writing this review and what will have me make referrals in the future is the customer service. Renate truly cares for her tenants and strives to ensure they are satisfied.

Seattle's famous Space Needle & Pike Place Market are just a ferry ride away over the magnificent Puget Sound. This growing area offers just about anything you want to do in an award winning town. The city of Bremerton has recently been voted one of America's most livable cities. There is lots to see and do in Bremerton. Take a leisurely stroll along the Boardwalk, enjoy a tour of the historic USS Turner Joy, visit Harborside Fountain Park and PSNS Memorial Plaza, spend the afternoon browsing through Bremerton's historic Arts District and unique shops. Harborside Fountain Park is one of the Puget Sound region's most impressive public spaces. Located on the waterfront, just steps away from the Kitsap Conference Center, the park features five large copper-ringed fountains, wading pools, and lush landscaping. Bremerton Ice Arena Ice Skating Rink was founded in 2002, and is an indoor rink and open year round. The historic Admiral Theatre was transformed by a magnificent renovation and reopened in 1997. The 1942 movie house is a one-of-a-kind performance venue for a wide variety of events. The main floor accommodates as many as 300 for sit-down dinners, or up to 500 in festival style or traditional theater seating and 502 seats available in the balcony.

Illahee State Park is just a short drive from the apartments and offers saltwater frontage on Port Orchard Bay. 'Illahee' means 'earth' or 'country' in the Indian tradition, and views of Puget Sound from the Illahee beach give the viewer a sense of what that word meant to native people. The park has plenty of parking space, lots of fresh air, facilities for a number of outdoor activities and access to a variety of water sports.

And if you love golf, don't miss the City owned Gold Mountain Golf Complex, rated one of the best public golf courses in the country, several challenging courses nearby and a driving range with a putting course just a short drive from the apartment.
