Bremerton site seeing attractions are just an easy walk from the apartment within just a few level blocks next to the waterfront.

The Bremerton Harborside and Louis Mentor Boardwalk is an easy stroll with magnificent views across the waterway. The Harborside is located next to the ferry terminal along beautiful Sinclair Inlet. Enjoy the fountains and wide plaza while watching maritime travelers and marine wildlife.

The USS Turner Joy is a floating museum operated by the Bremerton Historic Ships Association. Moored at the north end of the boardwalk, the ship can be explored topside and below decks. She is the last of the Forrest Sherman class destroyers, built in Seattle & commissioned in 1959, decommissioned in 1982. The tour also includes a Vietnam POW memorial.

The SEEfilm Bremerton Cinema with 10 screens opened this summer and is located just a short walk from the apartments.

Kitsap County Historical Society Museum, located just three blocks from the ferry terminal, reveals the rich history of Bremerton and Kitsap County. Museum exhibits include a model of a logging camp and scale models depicting early storefronts. Rotating exhibits display various aspects of the county's history.

Bremerton has a designated arts district in the heart of downtown. Two anchor galleries are: the Amy Burnett Gallery, which displays art pieces created by the nationally-acclaimed owner, along with sculpture, glass, pottery and a variety of mixed-media work by other local and regional artists; and Collective Visions - A Gallery of Art, an artists' cooperative home to rotating exhibits by its two dozen members, where a variety of artistic styles and media can be found.

For children of all ages, visit the Aurora Valentinetti Puppet Museum & Evergreen Children's Theatre to see every type of puppet imaginable.

Want to do a little shopping and grab a bite to eat? There are many small shops and businesses to browse through during the day. Eateries are abundant, from coffee & snack shops to the larger Anthony's at Sinclair Inlet located on the Harborside Development, overlooking the Bremerton Marina.

Once you have explored all that Bremerton has to offer take a short walk to the Bremerton Ferry Terminal and head to Seattle. Getting there is half the fun! Walk aboard to enjoy a stress-free boat ride. The Washington State ferry system is the largest in the United States (third largest in the world). As part of the state highway system, ferries have right of way wherever they sail, passing by great views of Puget Sound's maritime traffic and marine life. Be sure to bring your camera. The trip to Seattle offers the majestic Cascade Mountains, with the Seattle cityscape anchoring picturesque Mt. Rainer. Here’s a list of the most popular things to do in Seattle.

Space Needle

From its hilltop perch, the Space Needle actually seems taller than its 605 feet (184 meters) and – thanks to free telescopes – gives visitors the chance to zoom into downtown or catapult themselves toward the Cascade and Olympic mountains. Since its construction for the 1962 World’s Fair, the Space Needle has become both an internationally recognized icon and Seattle’s most popular attraction. Visitors should leave time for a meal in the SkyCity restaurant: In only 47 minutes, the revolving eatery makes a complete 360-degree rotation.

Pacific Science Center

Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2012 (the Space Needle also turns 50 in 2012), the Pacific Science Center continues to engage visitors – especially young ones – through a variety of personal experiences. Children gravitate to the Insect Village and Body Works (where Calorie Bikes calculate energy generated), but the biggest draw may be the Tropical Butterfly Village, where those wearing yellow and red easily attract fluttering friends.

EMP Museum

Formerly called Experience Music Project | Science Fiction Museum, the dramatic, fluid lines of the Frank O. Gehry-designed building that houses both museums is a must-see in and of itself. Climb aboard a space station simulation and then have a ball with sci-fi memorabilia, movie costumes, photos and hands-on exhibits. Bounce to performances shown on the world’s largest indoor video screen and then channel your inner Jimi Hendrix (a Seattle native) as you rock out to your own composition in Sound Lab.

Seattle Aquarium

The 7th most-visited aquarium in the United States, the Seattle Aquarium features more than 380 species of birds, fish, invertebrates and marine mammals. Visitors can gently touch certain marine animals in the Life on the Edge tide pool or talk with aquarium divers in the Underwater Dome, a spherical undersea room surrounded by 400,000 gallons (1,514 cubic meters) of water.

Argosy Cruises Harbor Tour

The Spirit of Seattle’s one-hour narrated tour offers a unique vantage point from which to view many of the city’s sights with ease: Pike Place Market, Olympic Sculpture Park, the Space Needle, Safeco Field and Qwest Field, to name a few. Relax and enjoy the skyline while someone else does the navigating.

Woodland Park Zoo

Hosting nearly 1,100 animals, the Woodland Park Zoo is nationally recognized for its commitment to creating environments that are true to the animals’ natural habitats. Hippos and giraffes roam on an African savannah, and birds swoop freely in the Tropical Rain Forest dome. Kids get their own special place, too: the Zoomazium, an indoor, nature-themed play space.

Museum of Flight

Looking like the fanciest airplane hangar ever made, the Museum of Flight doesn’t disappoint. Exhibits include the first Air Force One aircraft and the original Boeing manufacturing plant. And you’ll be looking up, with jaw dropped, in the six-story T.A. Wilson Great Gallery, home to 39 historic, full-size aircraft, many of which – including a Douglas DC-3 – appear to be flying by.

Pike Place Market

This historic market, now more than 100 years old, was designed to bring regional farmers and consumers together. Over the past century, however, it has also grown into one of the most popular things to do in Seattle. The market is a feast for the senses, with salmon flying, flowers in a riot of color, and the heady aroma of freshly baked goods. Be sure to snap a photo with Rachel, the bronze pig that serves as the market’s mascot.

Ballard Locks (Hiram H. Chittenden Locks)

Thanks to Army Corps of Engineers district chief Hiram Chittenden, boats have had an easy route from Lake Union and Lake Washington to the Puget Sound for nearly 100 years. Today, visitors atop swinging walkways watch the vessels’ progress and also have a special viewing window for the fish ladder – a 21-step structure that helps fish safely move to and from saltwater to freshwater.

Washington Park Arboretum

Covering 23 acres (93 hectares), the arboretum showcases more than 5,500 different plants from around the world. Though blooms can be found year-round, spring brings an impressive display along Azalea Way, a .75-mile (1.2 km) path and in the Rhododendron Glen. A Japanese garden features a copper-shingled tea house and 11-tier pagoda.

To visit the sites listed above that charge admission fees, use a Seattle CityPASS and save nearly half off combined admission. Plus, CityPASS holders avoid some ticket and entry lines, which means less time waiting and more time doing. Seattle CityPASS includes prepaid admission to the Space Needle, Pacific Science Center, Seattle Aquarium, Argosy Cruises Harbor Tour, EMP Museum, and either the Woodland Park Zoo or The Museum of Flight. Some special exhibits are not included with the CityPASS and may require an extra fee. Passes can be purchased online or at any attraction that accepts CityPASS. Use CityPASS and discover the best of Seattle.

A relaxing stay away

  • 5 of 5
We arrived the evening of the 14th. The hostess is very kind. The house was clean and well in order, with a notebook of pictures and directions to everything needed to keep the home in order for cleanup, as well as all information needed. The pier was only a few minutes walk from the house, as well as the town. From the pier, the ride to Seattle was free, but you need to pay on the way back.
Inside the home, everything was in working order. Pots and pans, dishes, furniture, the bed; all were neat and tidy and clean for use. Overall the stay was relaxing, and lovely. Our hostess treated us very kindly, but wasn't intrusive gave us our privacy. She would call to make sure things were going alright, and to check if we had any questions regarding anything. As far as hosts and hostesses go, she is definitely one of the best I've met.
Overall the house is small, but cozy. We didn't need a lot of room, so it was perfect for the two of us. We hope to come back and vacation another time.
The only complaint I would have would be the lack of many grocery stores in town. If you plan to go out to eat, or have a car readily available, this may not be a problem, as take out is only a short walk away. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to get away for a while. It's the perfect medium for someone who isn't looking for a city, but still wants one readily available. We hope to come back soon!

Owner's Response: It was a pleasure to meet you both and I am happy you enjoyed your stay. Grocery shopping is a bit difficult without a car but Safeway has just started a grocery delivery program that is very inexpensive with the first deliver being free, which will be a lot more convenient for our guests without a car. I have already included this information in all the Guest Information Books. I hope to see you again for your next vacation!!

A Great Place to Stay!

  • 5 of 5
When my wife and I were looking for three days away in Bremerton, we found Renate's place. It was a good base for us to ferry to Seattle, visit Poulsbo and hang in Bremerton. She responded quickly to our inquiries and made it easy for us to get in and out. Although its located in an older area of town, the facility itself was extremely neat, clean and provided everything we needed for our stay. Should we go back to Bremerton, we'd stay there again! Thanks Renate!!!

Beautiful little one bedroom apartment. Very clean. Everything worked nicely. It had a shower, no tub but had plenty of hot water for showers and lots of towels. The bedroom had plenty of space with a large closet for your clothes. The kitchen was clean with plenty of cupboard space for cooking. There was small table with stools to eat on and a nice big refrigerator with a freezer. There was also a washer and dryer available for washing clothes. Lots of windows and two ceiling fans which keep the apartment nice and cool. I would definetly stay here again. Apt looks just like the pictures. Cute and cozy.

Perfect place for an extended stay

  • 4 of 5
My little apartment was exactly as advertised. It has the amenities of a hotel, but much more room. The place was somewhat modern and very clean. Loved being so close to downtown. The owner was very responsive to any questions I had and was helpful in understanding the area. I would recommend the Boat Shed for a nice lunch or dinner on the water, and take a stroll along the Bremerton Marina.

Exceptional location, exceptional service

  • 5 of 5
I enjoyed my 5 week stay at this location. The description was accurate including the surrounding area. Being located blocks from the downtown area and the ferry system means you have a great opportunity to explore some highlights of the state of Washington. Some highlight include: downtown Seattle, Hoh rainforest, Olympic National Forest, Pacific Ocean, and parts of Canada.

The property was clean and the manager was always on top of any issues that came up. Communication was never a problem and Renate was more than willing to answer any questions I had.

I would highly recommend this property to a friend or relative. Due to the convenient location and the ability to rent for odd lengths of time, I will most likely be back to further explore everything the area has to offer.

Exceptionally clean and maintained

  • 5 of 5
This was the best maintained and cleanest property I have ever stayed in. My son rented the property for the month of August while he was doing a rotation at Harrison Hospital. It was ideal for him, and I stayed with him the last week of August. The owner was always available for questions and assistance. The drive to the hospital took about 6 minutes. The apartment faces an alley which is run down and used mostly for parking at the Naval Ship yard a block or two away. This did not affect our stay. I spent evenings reading on the bench outside our door. It is very nicely decorated.

I enjoyed the downtown area restaurants, art galleries and museums. Every day I would drive to a different state park on the Kitsap peninsula.

Owner's Response: I am so happy you were able to visit with your son while he was staying with us. Unfortunately there is not much we can do about the alley but we do the best we can with the things we can control and as you said, our location really is extremely convenient. It was a pleasure meeting you both.

If you ever wanted to visit the heart of the Pacific Northwest, this is the place for you Easy access to the Hood Canal bridge and the Olympic Peninsula for visiting the Olympic National Park for day hiking, sightseeing, or ferry to Victoria, British Columbia. The Kitsap Peninsula provides spectacular views of The Olympic Mountains with Mount Rainier in the distance.

Seattle's famous Space Needle & Pike Place Market are just a ferry ride away over the magnificent Puget Sound. This growing area offers just about anything you want to do in an award winning town. The city of Bremerton has recently been voted one of America's most livable cities. There is lots to see and do in Bremerton. Take a leisurely stroll along the Boardwalk, enjoy a tour of the historic USS Turner Joy, visit Harborside Fountain Park and PSNS Memorial Plaza, spend the afternoon browsing through Bremerton's historic Arts District and unique shops. Harborside Fountain Park is one of the Puget Sound region's most impressive public spaces. Located on the waterfront, just steps away from the Kitsap Conference Center, the park features five large copper-ringed fountains, wading pools, and lush landscaping. Bremerton Ice Arena Ice Skating Rink was founded in 2002, and is an indoor rink and open year round. The historic Admiral Theatre was transformed by a magnificent renovation and reopened in 1997. The 1942 movie house is a one-of-a-kind performance venue for a wide variety of events. The main floor accommodates as many as 300 for sit-down dinners, or up to 500 in festival style or traditional theater seating and 502 seats available in the balcony.

Illahee State Park is just a short drive from the apartments and offers saltwater frontage on Port Orchard Bay. 'Illahee' means 'earth' or 'country' in the Indian tradition, and views of Puget Sound from the Illahee beach give the viewer a sense of what that word meant to native people. The park has plenty of parking space, lots of fresh air, facilities for a number of outdoor activities and access to a variety of water sports.

And if you love golf, don't miss the City owned Gold Mountain Golf Complex, rated one of the best public golf courses in the country, several challenging courses nearby and a driving range with a putting course just a short drive from the apartment.
