Overview

Murphy Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeps 4

Come and visit 'our piece' of God's Country. Our cabin 'The Smokey Bear' is situated on 13 acres of lush woodlands with mountain views year round. Nature trails have been cut through the property for adults, children and pets to enjoy. There is a woodburning campfire pit below the outside deck for roasting marshmallows or for relaxing with good friends or family. Times like these make the best memories.

There is a gas grill and rocking chairs on the covered deck. We also have a 10x20 chain link, 5 foot high fenced pet kennel for your dog or dogs so they can enjoy the outside air and smells that are different from home while you are out and about away from the cabin.

We have many critters that come through the property. Deer are common, as are turkey, bear and other wildlife.

The cabin is built with an open floor plan and decorated in a country theme. The living room has a rock wood burning fireplace with wood and kindling provided for those times when the weather turns chilly or for a romantic evening. The living room is warm, comfortable and inviting and has a 32' flat screen TV with satellite and DVD player. We have a fully equipped kitchen with dining area. It has everything you will need for your stay, including a crock pot.

Each bedroom has a queen size bed with headboard and footboard. The beds are made with flannel sheets and handmade quilts.

There are many things to do while you are here. If you enjoy fly fishing, the Nantahala River is hatchery supported and holds rainbows, browns and brook trout up to 25 inches. The Cherohala Skyway is a beautiful drive that goes to heights over a mile high from Robbinsville to Tellico Plains, TN., with magnificent views all times of the year. Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest is close by and worth the trip.

There are many golf courses, hiking and mountain biking trails, whitewater rafting and tubing, swimming, horseback riding and much more to enjoy while you are here. There is Alpine Village in Helen, Ga., John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, the Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad in Blue Ridge, Ga., Fields of the Wood Biblical Park just down the road from the cabin, plus flea markets and our quaint downtown with 50's style movie theater and local shops and eateries.

Our cabin is private and secluded, yet accessible, perfect for friends, family and reunions.

So bring your camera, your walking shoes, and your fly rod for a memorable, relaxing Smoky Mountain getaway.

Cabin exactly as pictured and described.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was very clean, nicely furnished, and decorated like a cozy cabin should be. I found the cabin to be exactly like the pictures and description except that there was a really nice comfy new sofa. The kitchen was huge and well stocked with everything including foil, plastic wrap, plastic bowls with lids for leftovers, zip lock bags, paper towels, etc and even some spices. There was plenty of laundry and dish soap. The bed was extremely comfortable. The sheets and bedding were nice. The fire pit was very large and there was plenty of firewood laying all around the woods to collect and burn. The cabin was far enough from the road that you rarely noticed any cars passing - even when you were outside. The AC worked great. There was plenty of hot water. The water didnt have a well taste. The cabin was easy to find and the driveway was easy to navigate even in my tiny 2wd car. Debbie was super nice and she refunded my deposit promptly. This was one of the nicest cabins I have ever rented. I personally rely on these reviews when selecting a cabin so I am completely honest so others can also choose wisely. The only thing I would change about the whole experience was maybe get some new bath towels. They were by no means bad but some nicer fluffy ones would be great. I know it seems petty to complain about towels but there really isnt anything else that could be considered a drawback. I would happily stay here again and am telling all readers that you will not be disappointed if you choose this cabin. Thanks again Debbie for being such a great hostess and providing me with such a lovely place to stay on my trip to the mountains.

Owner's Response: Pat- Must have been ESP or something as I replaced the towels in the bathroom yesterday. I thought they were getting a bit ragged. I am in the process of putting in a new living room picture on our website as we replaced the sofa that was in there last month and I never took a new picture of it. We try to make your stay warm and inviting and have our cabins stocked with everything you might need while you stay here with us. Come back and stay with us again, it will be nice to see you again.

AWESOME TIME AWESOME CABIN

  • 5 of 5

What a great cabin. Mike and Debbie have thought of everything you would need. We have been here a month and love every moment. Getting up in mornings having coffee looking at mountains, could not be anymore relaxing. We have done so much and still did not have time to do everything we wanted too. Cooked half of time at cabin on grill and half the time eating out. There is some awesome places to eat in Murphy and near by Blue Ridge. We have been motorcycle riding a lot, hiking, sight seeing, train ride, community plays and outdoor music. Mike and Debbie have been awesome to us. Plan on coming back next year for 6 weeks. Thank You Mike and Debbie for everything

Owner's Response: Larry & Dianne- We are very happy that you have enjoyed your stay with us and we always like to hear that people want to come back again. We try to stock and fill the cabins with as many amenities that people have at home, so it feels like home or better while you are here with us. The cooler than average weather couldn't have come at a better time for your stay. I have dropped off some of our home grown veggies for you to eat here or take with you. Let us know your plans for next year and thanks again. Debbie & Mike

Great Getaway

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful place for a getaway. We spent five days enjoying this quiet and peaceful place. The cabin is completely stocked with everything you would need including extra blankets, washer and dryer, and even an ice cream scoop in the kitchen drawer. We particularly enjoyed sitting outside on the large porch/deck and having our coffee in the morning and drinks in the evening. Debbie and Mike were ever helpful with places to eat and local businesses to visit. We will definitely be returning. This is a gem of a place in the woods.

HOW GREAT IT WAS!

  • 5 of 5

We have been to Murphy for several years. We live in Ohio. We stayed at Stone Creek Cabins and found our stay to be more than wonderful. The cabin was like home. We were so grateful to find it. We have a small dog and she became ill. Debbie our owner gathered us up and took us to town so we get our "baby" help. We owe a her deep debt of gratitude for her sensitivity and human kindness. We would recommend this "little piece of heaven" to anyone. The cabin is spacious and very clean. It's very safe-which has been a factor for me in the past at other cabins. The Stone's are close by and are very helpful guiding you where you want to go. The cabins are close to eateries and easily accessible to the Smokies and a stones throw to Georgia. Lots to see and an an ideal place to de-stress and sit on the cabin porch and rock your cares away. Don and Sue K

Owner's Response: Don and Sue- You know that day when Tinkerbelle was sick and it was raining so hard, my heart just sank. I have always been such a great lover of all animals, especially a little dog that needed attention right now. I am glad I was there at that time and there was no problem in helping new friends who were staying at my cabin with their baby. I was so relieved that she got better and you both enjoyed the rest of your trip. Sometimes we just have to go out of our way and this was one of those "special times". Please come back and stay with us again, and bring Tinkerbelle with you. It will be nice to see all of you again. Debbie

Fantastic Vacation at the Perfect Price (9/2012)

  • 5 of 5

My husband (and dog) and I had a WONDERFUL stay in the mountains. We were both impressed w/ the cabin and all it had to offer. I can't think of any household necessities it lacked and we were able to pick up personal necessities at the local Wal-Mart & Ingles Grocery w/ a quick trip into town. We enjoyed ourselves sightseeing near the cabin and in other parts of the Nantahala Forest (beautiful). We also went gem mining (in Franklin) and my husband fished several times in several different places. Because I'm a big softie, our dog ended up going w/ us everywhere but to Wal-Mart and to dinner (Monte Alban ??? - which had delicious Mexican food & margaritas) but the kennel pen was more than adequate and actually the deciding factor in choosing to rent this cabin. Debbie was ill so we didn't meet her in person but telephone contact & email responses were timely and thorough. We did meet Mike and he went above and beyond being a great host. Without hesitation we would return to their cabins and this area and recommend it to others.

Owner's Response: Debbie & Shane- We are glad that you enjoyed your stay here at the Smokey Bear cabin. Even though I was sick and unable to meet you, my hubby (Mike) jumped right in to make sure you were able to find some good fishing spots and enjoyed taking some much needed time off from his busy schedule to fish with you and take some time for himself also. Come back and stay with us again and bring that beautiful dog with you.
