"We had such a great experience with this property! The apartment was clean and in a great part of Boston. The owner also had suggestions for traveling through the city and other helpful tips. The whole process was very easy and enjoyable."
1/2 a block from Freedom trail. Little Italy restaurant's galore. Great experience. Walk to Fanuiel Hall. Loved it. BJG Parking websites work too.
This property is right in the heart of the North End. Everything you could want and need is within walking distance, including amazing historical sights. The Italian food in the area is excellent. It is sandwiched right between the two main streets of the North End and only a five-minute walk to a T stop.
The ambiance was also excellent if you want a true feel for living in the North End. It was clean and very well-maintained. It was small, but not too small. Five of us stayed there (3 adults, 1 teen, and 1 10-year-old). The sleeping arrangements were comfortable, and there was enough space for us to sit and hang around a little too.
Previous reviewers have mentioned the steps. Yes, there are a lot of them, and they are narrow. But if you are in decent physical shape, they should not be a problem. We saw them as an opportunity to work off the numerous cannolis we consumed. Ha!
Overall, we loved experiencing the North End more as a local than a tourist staying in a hotel.
The best thing about this apartment was it's location. It was in a quiet courtyard in the heart of the north end a block away from wonderful italian bakeries, restaurants and delis. The bedrooms and sitting room were a nice size and the kitchen was a bit cramped with the bathroom off the kitchen. The lockbox was a challenge to get into. It was located in a difficult place to find it, especially at night, and it was very difficult to operate. The owner should get a new lockbox and put it in a better location. If you don't mind the 3 flights of stairs to get to the apartment and you want a fantastic location I would recommend this property.
The apartment is very nice. It has a room with bunk beds, another room with a nicely sized double bed, and a sofa that could serve as a bed in the living room. That being said, do not expect a large property as it's rather small, but that wasn't an issue for us. The restroom is particularly small.
But what it lacks in size, it has in location; the location is just perfect. The North End is probably my favorite neighborhood in Boston; so quiet and authentic. The apartment is right ON the Freedom Trail, if you're interested in doing that when you visit. Also, it's within walking distance to the Haymarket station, and plenty of cabs are available on Salem ST and Hanover ST at all times. There are several bakeries around (Mike's Pastry, highly recommend) and a 7/11 in walking distance. If you're into nightlife, there are plenty of bars around Faneuil Hall, a half mile away tops.
For a family of 4, this was a perfect property. It was clean, air conditioned and well looked after. Yes, it is up a few narrow and windy stairs, but it is in an excellent location in a very safe area of Boston.
We had a great time staying in this cozy two bedroom flat. It was a perfect location for us, who love walking around to take in local sights, foods, and history.
The flat itself was clean and bright. It has adequate kitchen wares for cooking small meals, and we enjoyed watching the lively birds in the courtyard out the window during breakfast. Because the flat's windows open to a courtyard, we didn't get street noise. The flat is up a lot of stairs, but we felt it was only appropriate to burn off some of those extra calories from all of the different pastries we had to try from different shops in the neighborhood.
The location was fantastic: about half way between the Old North Church and Mike's Pastry (amazing fresh cannoli) right along the Freedom Trail path, nearby to groceries, restaurants, and a quick walk to multiple T line stops. The neighborhood has an old-world feel, with small winding streets and small local businesses (especially foods), bustling at all times of day. We often returned late from a day of sightseeing and passed through the North End neighborhood still lively with people eating out at the many restaurants, and could still buy groceries at 10:30pm --even a 24 hour pastry shop around the corner with great cookies and some pizzas, calzones or bake-at-home casseroles, for the super night-owl types.
It always felt safe to walk in the area.
Also, there is a car rental place at the nearby Haymarket T stop (we did a day-trip to Cape Cod), and we rented bikes from a place a few blocks away to ride around the Minute Man bike-trail, and the "Emerald Necklace" park trails. On Friday and Saturday there was a farmer's market nearby.
