Orleans House Rental Photos and Description
Sleeps 10, 4 bedrooms (2 with private bath), 3 full bathrooms, 1 half bathroom
Classic Cape with bright, modern, free-flowing interior and central air conditioning in a tiny neighborhood on a private road in the woods (but only 2 miles to local stores). Private access to secluded salt-water beach on shallow bay, great for kayaking and beach-combing. Two master suites with full baths.
It’s a 2-minute walk to your secluded salt-water beach on Little Pleasant Bay, sheltered from the Atlantic by the barrier of Nauset Beach (famous for its sand and surf). The view from the beach is spectacular and unspoiled: just a peaceful vista of ocean, sky, and uninhabited islands; the closest visible houses are several miles away.
Perfect for an extended family (or two families), the house has a master suite on the upper level, and another suite on the main floor. Each suite has a full private bath.
Layout of main floor: The main floor features the living room, sun room, dining room, kitchen, twin-bed suite, half-bath, and laundry room. The bright, airy living room opens through large, double sliding doors to the deck, and has a vaulted ceiling and balcony leading to the upstairs bedrooms. The sun room, with vaulted ceiling and TV, opens off the living room; together they seat 10 comfortably.
The dining room, with over-sized table seating 10, is open to the kitchen, forming a great gathering place for kids (and adults) to work on projects together. The angled entrance to the sun room provides easy access from both the dining room and living room – so you can keep an eye on the kids watching TV in the sun room.
Bedrooms: The upper floor features the master suite with a king bed, private full bath, and walk-in closet.
The suite on the main floor has twin beds, TV, and a private full bath. If you prefer a king bed, there’s a twin-bed-connector that creates a king-sized bed (with fleece strip covering the joint, and a king-size mattress pad over the top).
The two other upper-floor bedrooms share a separate full bath with whirlpool tub. One of these bedrooms has a queen bed; the other has two twin-size bunks and a double bed – great for kids (and perhaps a nanny).
The whole house is air-conditioned. For cooler days when you prefer fresh air instead, there are ceiling fans in the living room, sun room, and master bedroom, as well as portable fans in the other bedrooms.
In colder weather, our gas-log fireplace provides instant-on coziness for the living room. And, of course, the whole house has central heating.
More details: The two-car garage contains beach chairs, board games, Lego and other toys, which you’re welcome to use.
Outside, there’s a covered farmers’ porch on the north side, connected to a wrap-around deck and gas grill on the east side. The south-side deck has a large umbrella-shaded picnic table. A roomy outdoor shower (with full privacy) allows for cleaning off the sand after a day at the beach.
Our “own” beach on Little Pleasant Bay is great for kayaking and beach-combing, but the beach can be narrow at high tide, and may have sea grass washed up on it – so go to nearby Nauset Beach (3 miles from the house) for Atlantic surf and miles of unspoiled sand. Other local beaches are Skaket Beach (5 miles), great for little kids; and Pilgrim Lake (4 miles), a fresh-water pond, also great for little kids.

Guestbook comments from the owner
Our second visit to this wonderful Cape house, and it was even better the second time around. Great memories were made here in this house for the week that we stayed for. We were lucky to have great weather to spend time on Nauset Beach! Cannot express how well this house captures the essence of a “Cape house”.
Thank you for sharing your home with us once again – – truly a wonderful home!
PS: the ping-pong table is the best! Always a joy – – it’s a keeper!
After I retired from a career in computer consulting, I trained as a shamanic energy healer -- a very different focus! Check out my web site: perhaps you'd like to experience a healing session as part of your vacation here?
My late wife's grandparents bought sheep pasture here in 1892. They loved the proximity of Little Pleasant Bay. The view from the beach - only 2 minutes from the house - where you can see no houses closer than several miles away, is still unspoiled over a century later, thanks to the generous conservation actions of our neighbors.
And we're less than a 10-minute drive from the popular public Nauset Beach on the Atlantic.
