Perfect casa, perfect trip

Just back from 10 glorious days on Isla. Our stay at Casa de Missy was really quite special. Flew down with my 2 sisters, who stayed 3 days & I stayed on alone the rest of the time. I have been coming to Isla for many years & often travel alone, and Casa de Missy is a very safe location for solo travelers.
The casa was perfect for the 3 of us and then when they went home, it was perfect for me alone also. The furnishings are charming, attractive and comfortable. Both units above us were rented and we heard no sound whatsoever from upstairs. There is a full-size washer and dryer in our lower level, allowing one to travel lightly. The patio doors open up completely, expanding the living space & bringing the outdoors in. We took our morning coffee on the patio and the little pool is a welcome option for hot afternoons.
The layout of the house allows for incredible air circulation. We opened the high transom windows and the patio doors and the most remarkable air current began whooshing around the space in a great and wonderful breeze. No need for A/C, which I've never experienced on Isla before, but it's there if you should want it. The entry door from Matamoros is a Dutch door, and you can open the top of the door (metal bars in it for security), thus creating even more air circulation.
The location is most convenient. I've stayed all over the island, and must say that I was a bit hesitant to stay right in the heart of lively Centro, but the convenience of having only to walk down the street & around the corner to Hidalgo to eat was terrific, especially when I was returning alone after dark to the casa. Street noise never bothered us at all.
Reg was wonderful answering my pre-trip questions via e-mail. Alain, the caretaker, met us upon arrival and responded to our questions promptly.
For return Isla visitors, the casa is directly across from Captain Tony's casa, and kitty-corner from Olivia. For new visitors, beautiful Playa Norte is around the corner to your west and there is a wonderful seawalk to the east on the Caribbean side. The Super Xpress supermarket is very close and you have no need for a car. If you haven't seen the island, do rent a golf cart for at least a few days. I always rent a bicycle, which is a great way to get around.
My husband & I have stayed in several luxury rentals on the island, but Casa de Missy is my new favorite place to stay.
