COMPLETELY RENOVATED AND UPGRADED LAKEFRONT HOME

Copake House Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom plus loft sleeping area, sleeps 6

Beautifully restored 2 bedroom (plus attic loft) home brings contemporary living to this hidden gem just 2 hours from NYC. We gutted the house completely incorporating modern amenities like a brand new stainless steel kitchen with granite countertops, hardwood bamboo flooring and a large deck to enjoy the view of the pond just steps away. Relax in the living room watching the fire or the 3D flat panel TV or just looking out the picture window to see the fish jumping in the pond right outside the large picture window. Shmooze in the kitchen or at the dining room table just steps from the sliding doors taking you out on the recently built deck to dine al fresco. Walk down the dock just steps from the house to swim in the refreshing pond or use our kayak for a leisurely paddle. Our home is a great place for all seasons; watch the leaves change in fall, the flowers bloom in spring, close to skiiing in winter and lots of water fun in the summer. Not to mention the close proximity to the Berkshires and all it has to offer. 2 hours from NYC makes this an easy drive just to get away after a hard week at work. The house is located directly on Robinson Pond; a 100 acre pond allowing electric motor boats, kayaks, canoes, swimming and fishing. The house is 30 miles from Tanglewood, close to Jacob's Pillow, a short drive to Bash Bish Falls. This location is ideally situated close to NY as well as to the Berkshires plus hiking, skiing and swimming. Close to Catamount and Butternut ski areas..

Only wish we could have stayed and relaxed longer!

  • 5 of 5
Some friends and I spent a long weekend at this cabin to get away from the hustle and bustle of NYC. We prepared for a weekend of rain (the house has a ton of board games!) but ended up getting lucky and getting a sunny and hot weekend! The house was wonderful and equipped with everything we needed; towels, linens, kitchen stuff, etc. The decor was nothing special, but perfectly functional, and the redone kitchen is absolutely lovely! The view of the lake from the house is phenomenal! It felt like we had practically a 180 degree view in front of us at all times. We spent most of our time out on the deck and docks, and enjoyed walking around the neighborhood in the evening. We fell in love with the Oakhurst diner in nearby Millerton and ended up having breakfast there when we weren’t making it at the house. Millerton also has a ton of great antique shops and other little stores. We also spent an afternoon hiking at Bash Bish Falls, which is beautiful waterfall only a short car ride/hike away. My friends also used the kayak one afternoon which they absolutely loved! At night we built campfires in the house's fire pit and roasted marshmallows and told ghost stories.

My one note to avid lake swimmers such as myself, is that it’s a good idea to bring a floatie if you plan on swimming. The water is a little mucky right next to the dock, so it was nice to be able to float out a bit beyond the dock without having to swim through the muck. The public beach is right across the way, so it was also fun to be able to swim over in the warm and refreshing water and lay on the floating raft there.

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and only wish we could have stayed longer! It was quiet, clean, beautiful, and relaxing… everything we wanted. My friends and I spoke the day after we got back and agreed that our bodies may be back in the city, but our minds are still back on lovely Robinson Pond in Copake.

Great Lake house

  • 5 of 5
This lake house is perfect for a weekend getaway or a full week of fun in the Hudson Valley. It is convenient to everything. You can get to the Catskills or Albany all in less than an hour and we did both as well as explored the local towns. We were only there for a few days and we tried to fit in about a weeks worth of activities. The lake/pond is great for swimming, fishing and kayaking (the house has a great kayak that seats 2 adults or up to 3 kids. The deck is wonderful to sit out on and watch the sunset. The inside of the house has been completely redone and its done in a modern motif. White leather futon/couch and sling back chair, all modern fixtures, new flat screen and stereo in the living room and the bathroom is all done in stone , glass and charcoal tile. The loft upstairs will sleep up to 5 people and the 2 bedrooms downstairs have a king and a queen. The kitchen is also brand new and we made a great spaghetti dinner with fresh salad fixings from one of the local markets and every morning we made our own breakfasts with local eggs and local organic sausage and ham. We did quite a bit of exploring and though Hillsdale did have a nice little ice cream parlor and there were countless ice cream shacks, for something completely different check out LICK which has special flavors from a local dairy. http://www.lickhudson.com/ My wife had coconut/date ice cream and my daughter enjoyed her favorite, salted caramel with big pieces of caramel in it. On our last day we headed over to Bash Bish Falls which is about 20 minutes away. We parked and hiked up to the falls. My wife and I are far from in shape and though it took us a little while, we got to the falls in less than 45 minutes (its only a 3/4 mile hike but it is up hill. the path is rocky but not bad at all). If you are worried about the hike, don't be. We saw a family with 2 strollers that made it up to the top without any problems. The falls are beautiful to look at but on a hot day there are also plenty of places to put your feet into the water and cool off. the sign says no swimming but there were people splashing around all over the place and the rangers did not seem to mind as long as nobody got out of hand. All in all there is a multitude of things to do or you can just sit and enjoy the house and the lake and we highly recommend this house for any vacation.

Amazing!!

  • 5 of 5
Wow! That's the best way to describe this house. There's a gorgeous view of Robinson Pond, and there are so many fun activities to do around the area. At night it was just so amazing to watch the sun set over the serene pond. It just put my husband, my three children and I at peace. The house was so quaint and adorable with the inside decorated very modernly. The loft above was the perfect size for my three children. When they woke up, the first thing my two oldest saw was the sun rising. From the loft space, you can see straight through the sliding back doors and out onto the pond. While my children were splashing around in the pond, my husband and I were able up relax on the dock watching them playing. My youngest especially had fun, attempting to catch the little minnows, unsuccessfully might I add, but she tried nonetheless. And you can't forget about the kayak trip, the kayak comfortably sits three people, and my husband took two of my children out on the lake. When they came back, they couldn't stop gushing about how much fun they had. We hope to come back soon!

Fantastic lake house - New and clean

  • 5 of 5
We had a family of six comfortably stay in this house for Memorial weekend. Robinson pond is a very nice lake. We caught lots of fish from the dock and enjoyed kayaking on the lake. There is a public beach area on the lake, across from the house; you can swim or walk to it from the house. It was very nice for the kids to enjoy a warm day on the water.

Pretty property in quiet lakeside town

  • 5 of 5
Pretty property with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Renovated bathroom, kitchen and living room was bright and comfortable. The two downstairs bedroom were great and the loft space up top allowed us to accomodate the entire group comfortably. Nearby hiking was fantastic. Only regret was not getting a fishing license as they were jumping in the lake the entire time we were there. Great local produce and meat available if you just drive and explore the area.

Great Lakehouse!

  • 5 of 5
This was perfect for a quick get away from the city. Cozy house with new renovations directly on the lake.

Large deck w/dining table and grill was great. A dock right on the water perfect for boating/fishing.
New amenities in the house flat screen tv, internet, brand new kitchen/bath made the house very comfortable.

Thanks again!
