About Gerard and Theresa Michney

Gerard is a self-employed contractor and Theresa is a retired educator. Theresa grew up in this house and attended schools in Lenox.

Gerard and Theresa Michney purchased this house in 2009

Why Gerard and Theresa Michney chose Lenox

This house is Theresa's family house. It was the center of family gatherings where memories remain. We wanted to keep the house in the family and preserve it for future generations.

What makes this house unique

The house has been completely modernized with the latest energy efficient innovations. But we have kept the features that make a house a home and added a wonderful screen porch to enjoy the Berkshire summers.

TERRIFIC HOUSE WITH EVERY AMENITY

  • 5 of 5
The house was terrific and had every conceivable amenity. We appreciated all the renovations you folks did. A little different than we might have done it, but everything was well thought out & very tasteful. As a Realtor, I've seen enough houses to know good rehabs from bad ones, and this is one very, very good rehabbed house. Excellent lighting throughout, nice modren kitchen, great showers in both master baths, comfy beds and lots of fluffy towels.

We loved The Berkshires and had a great time that week. The weather was odd for mid-October with lots of cloudy days and a little rain, but at least it was warm. It didn't prevent us from doing all the touristy things -- Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, Norman Rockwell Museum, The Mount (Edith Wharton's home), and the Hancock Shaker Museum. Plus, lots of walking and some nice light hiking. A perfect time of year for outdoor activities.

And we found some surprisingly good restauarants, although not in Lenox, where they seem to be small, crowded & overpriced. Our favorites were all in Pittsfield -- Mazzeo's for Italian, Patrick's Pub and Arrizona Pizza.

We would highly recommend your lovely vacation home to anyone who wants excellent, modern accommodations in a quiet, centrally located Berkshires location.

We absolutely loved the house in Lenox!

  • 5 of 5
The house was perfect for our needs. We had a very complete kitchen with all the gadgets we needed. The sun [porch was great in the mornings for breakfast. We had a friend stay one night and she had her own room and attached bathroom. We had a laundry room with all the necessary soaps etc, so we went home with clean clothes! Best of all the location was perfect, Lenox is a really cute town, with lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance. The owners are very nice and we felt very welcome.

A FABULOUS FIND

  • 5 of 5
I'm currently staying at this property but I'm so impressed that I couldn't wait to leave before writing my review. I'm visiting the Berkshires because I've stayed at The Canyon Ranch located here in Lenox and absolutely loved the experience. I wanted to share the beauty of the Berkshires with my kids and some of the activities-biking, hiking etc. and decided to rent this time.

This house has everything you are looking for in a modern house. It however retains its old charm. The owners-Gerard and Theresa thought of absolutely everything one might need and provided it. The freezer is even stocked with first aid supplies for kids and if you love to cook outside you will find fresh spices to use. It is tastefully furnished and you can feel the care and love that went into the decorations . Every piece of art or furnishing was well thought out and the old plus the new blend so well.
On our drive here from Albany International airport, my teenage kids were giving me a hard time on why I chose to bring them here on vacation. They wanted to know how the place was, what it looked like etc. I was concerned they would not like it but once we arrived and they had time to explore, they have also fallen in love with the house. The neighborhood is quiet and very peaceful and I could sit on the screened porch all day just sipping a cup of tea and reading a nice book. Also, they have a small library in the house with all types of interesting books to choose from.
It feels like home and I will definitely be coming back.

Berkshire Beauty, Upgraded Comfort

  • 5 of 5
I love to travel; have lived in three countries, and have vacationed in more than forty of our states.

But there is something about the Berkshires that make it one of my favorite places on earth. It’s more than just Tanglewood, Jacob’s Pillow, or the plethora of great theatre options. It’s the sheer beauty of the natural environment that has been attracting artists of all stripes since the mid-1800s.

This year I decided to have an in-town experience, and was lucky enough to find this property.

The owners have done it right from the state of the art kitchen with an induction range top, upgraded Kitchen-Aid appliances, every conceivable cooking convenience to the NanaWall at one end of the dining area. Very well thought out, beautifully executed.

One of my pet peeves when traveling is having to guess which light switch goes with what light or trying to cook without the right tools. Not an issue here.

I also loved being able to walk into the center of Lenox in the mornings to grab a paper or a muffin. Very convenient. It was lovely to return and read the paper at my leisure on the screened in porch.

All in all, a relaxing time away in beautiful surroundings. I’ll definitely come back.

The Perfect Berkshire Base

  • 5 of 5
Our family has been coming up to this beautiful part of the country for more than 30 years, and we've stayed at a wide variety of places, but this brand new offering is now our instant favorite.

This is not staying in a "house," it's a real home, and in very short order guests can sink into all its great features.

The kitchen is a real showcase with everything you could possibly need for cooking or hosting. Dishes, glasses, etc. are really luxe.

The livingroom has plenty of space for relaxing and even entertaining. All the entertainment and internet features worked like a charm.

Bedrooms spacious and restful with window AC units and fans to help ward off muggy weather. There are 2 1/2 baths for added convenience. And while we're on that subject, we need to emphasize that the location could not be better for Berkshire activities.

The morning walk to the store for the newspapers is only part of the location charm. Lenox, Tanglewood, Stockbridge, Williamstown, etc. They're all easy to get to from here and the supermarkets/drug stores are just a few minutes away.

We even signed up at the local fitness center, just two minutes from the house.

Can you tell we think this home is PERFECT?

The owners Gerry and Therese deserve special kudos for their warm hospitality and easygoing affability. We really enjoyed getting to know them, and they're great resources for anything you may need to know. They're obviously very proud of the job they've done in making this property so attractive, and they deserve high marks for getting everything right.

Can't wait til we can return.
