Lovely week experience!

We had never rented a house before for a vacation and we didn't know what to expect. The Barnard House ended up being perfect for us. It spacious, light and airy and tastefully decorated with contemporary furniture. We spent lots of time exploring the beautiful property, hiking through the woods, dipping our feet in the stream and relaxing on the back porch at the end of the day.
We took full advantage of the great location, which is right down the road from a great lakefront beach which offers swimming, kayaking, etc. It's also a short drive to Woodstock, a quaint town with nice shops and good restaurants. A bit further (but not much) is Quechee, which offers fine dining, antiquing and the stunning Quechee Gorge.
James and Sarah were wonderful hosts, leaving us maps, detailed instructions of the ins and outs of the house, and some extra and generous amenities. Also, the house was spotless and immaculate.
We were more than happy with our week long stay at the house and it truly felt like a home away from home. So much so, our 3-year old son kept referring to the house and his "new home." Selfishly, we'd like to keep this place a secret so we can go back anytime, but honesty prevails and we recommend it highly.
