Shady brokers - risky

It's so difficult to trust anymore. I was successful once before, but experience with these people have left me skeptical once again. The house was okay. Sheets were not fresh -master sheet had blood stain. We took very good care and were respectful of the home, but when I got home from vacation, I received a very vague damage report, and additional charges. I was never contacted before the allegation, but I was later told that someone in the adjacent home (different people coming and going), told the owners that we had done the damage (one item was to the SHARED pool area, which we never even set foot the entire time we were there because it was too cold). We even paid them for a week, but only stayed a few days. Not surprised someone else would blame us. I had a great experience with some home owners in California, so I was hoping these people would be just as easy to deal with. In this home in Floria, you may be left defending yourself long distance. Don't take the chance. They may ding your deposit after you leave.
Owner's Response: The linens are freshly laundered. A sheet in the Master bedroom did have a blood stain that had been set with hot water when laundered on the sanitize cycle. There is also a second set of clean sheets for this bed. if ever needed
When this tenant left residency, the Master Bedroom blind that covers the French Doors
leading to the Patio was Broken. The broken blind was in the up position and the pull string was broken as was the head rail. When tenant took residency the blind was in the down position and in working order. The blind was less then one year old.
The tenant was notified of this damage along with the water leveling system at the pool. The tenant in the other house had called to say that the shower was not working. The water control turnoff for the shower & water leveling system is located at the Cottage.
When maintenance turned on the water control at the Cottage, the leveling system sprayed water all over and the shower was again working. The water leveling system is located on the outside back edge of the pool. You do not have to use the pool to be able to damage the water leveling system.
Because the leveling system is in the Courtyard, with both houses having access to it (except for the water control which was at the Cottage), the owner did not charge this tenant with the cost
to replace the system. This tenant was charged only $127.50 for parts & labor to fix the broken blind.
This tenant said the cleaning people must have broken it. Our cleaning people are bonded & insured if they damage anything. The dispute for damage in the amount of $127.50 was sent
to the Florida Real Estate Commission for an Escrow Dispute order.
