From the lodge you will experience the most beautiful sunset and sunrise in Maine. The moonlit nights show the lake. The slow and peacefully setting allows for a relaxing time. Snowmobiling is available right from the lodge.The trails are only 3/4 mile from the lodge. A country store is only one mile from the lodge.
wonderful sunsets from the porch you can see nearly the entire length and with of cross lake
This is a beautiful spot, with a back yard that slopes gently down to a dock on a small estuary that curves around a tiny island. The view of Cross Lake beyond is expansive and wonderfully peaceful--the only watercraft we saw (mid-week) were a few kayaks and some ducks feeding near shore. The cottage is at the end of a private road with a few other cabins on it and it feels very secluded and private. It is spotless inside, with comfortable beds, a sunroom with windows looking out on the lake, and a very well-supplied kitchen and bath. Some of the highlights of exploring the area were seeing the Acadian Village in Van Buren with 17 restored buildings full of fascinating interiors, old objects and furniture, and ingenious milling and farming machinery; buying vegetables at an Amish farm stand; and seeing fields of pink, white and purple potato flowers and bright green buckwheat. Everyone we encountered was exceptionally friendly and helpful, including one of the caretakers whom we met. I would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone and would love to come back someday!
A panoramic view of the lake...loon's, duck's, bird's, mountain's, spectacular sunrises, sunsets...not to mention peace and quiet. It doesn't get any better than this if this is the kind of vacation you are looking for.
The camp is on a point at the lake, so when you look out from the quaint screened in porch "as far as the eye can see," it is beautiful mother nature at her best. Even when there is the possiblity of a rain storm coming, we didn't mind. It was fabulous to watch the rain and lightning pass around us as we sat on the front porch, singing and swinging.
The camp itself, is very clean, cozy, quaint, yet up-to-date. The moose decor really adds to the experience. The locals are friendly, and helpful. The caretaker's are extremly pleasant, and do a wonderful job taking care of the place. The owner's obviously put a lot of pride into their camp/home on the lake. It is a beatiful place to vacation anytime of year, wether it be summer vacation, fall hunting or foliage looker's, or winter for snowmobiling/icefishing. If you like water sports such as canoeing, boating, kyaking, jetskiing, etc., be sure to bring one or two with you. Yeee Haaaa...!!!!!! Have a great vacation.

What a GREAT place to go to get away from all the hustle and bustle of modern life! My wife and I stayed at the cottage for a total of 4 days. Everything in the previous reviews are accurate. Our BEST highlights were the morning sunrises and late-afternoon sunsets -- What a spectacular view!
Upon arrival, I immediately went to to the screened porch and sat with my wife on the swinging chair overlooking Cross Lake. After an 8 hour plus commute to the cottage, this was a welcomed release.
Upon retiring, you slide into one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. The sheets were at least 500 count thread and had an aroma of fresh roses!
As this review is a bit late, we plan to repeat our stay this year, hoping to get a full week this time!
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and totally recommend this cottage to ANYONE that wants to find a peaceful and relaxing spot!!!
My husband and I love escaping to Aroostook County a couple of times a year, but we've always had a hard time finding the right place to stay....until now. We discovered this place last year and we absolutely love it. It is right on the lake and there is a nice sunroom to sit and enjoy the view of the lake and the sunset. It's an adorable cabin and is kept impeccably clean. The caretaker of the place is salt of the earth, looks and acts just like Henry Fonda on Golden Pond. Doesn't get any better ;}
When we drove down Sunset Lane and realized we'd found the camp, we couldn't have been any happier. Amazing location and all the comforts of home.
The camp could easily be considered a second home and clearly, the owners take pride in the place. The moose decor is fabulous - everywhere you look, another moose! I spent every moment I could sitting on the patio where the view of the lake is breathtaking. I'd watch the early morning fog slowly burn off and welcome another beautiful day.
Mike did quite a bit of kayaking; such easy access to the water! The fishing wasn't great, but some of the locals had some luck. Speaking of the locals - everyone we met during our stay was really nice and helpful.
The outside fire pit was fun - we had a few fires while we were there and the s'mores couldn't have been yummier.
I could write, write and write some more about how much we loved it, but words can't adequately describe it; you'll need to try it for yourself. I have little doubt that we'll stay here again; it met our expectations and so much more!
I'm reluctant to review this place, as I want it to be available for when I want to rent it..... If you are looking for a relaxing, quiet place to "get away".... this may be for you. The sunsets, on the porch are stunning.... If you can find you way to the next lake to the SouthWest (Square Lake), and get some tips from the locals (see the guys at the local country store), you can catch some great lake trout and LandLocked Salmon. The cabin is clean, and everything you need, is already there. (just bring your food, beverages, and such....) ---- oh.... and the stars.... after living the city life for so many years..... I forgot how many stars are "up there"..... light a bon-fire down by the lake, and sit back and enjoy.....
