Seuin-An – Blue cloud hut.
Seuin-An – is a house were the essence of Japanese tradition was taught. Dance, music, tea ceremony, flower arrangement and more, were handed down here from teacher to the young ladies who chose the world of Geisha as their way of life.
The house is centrally located in Gion walking distance to major sights and the city center’s entertainment area as well is in one of Kyoto’s famous antique shops streets.
It has been renovated to provide luxury-level comfort to its guests, yet has been designed to retain a cozy Japanese feeling with the spirit, aesthetics's, and beauty of the traditional Japanese town house.
Local Culture and Location:
Seuin-An- is within easy walking distance from the city center as well some of Kyoto’s major sightseeing spots in the Higashiyama district, the Eastern Mountains, including of course the Gion the famous Geisha district, Kiyomizu with Ninen zaka and sanen Zaka, Yasaka shrine, as well Chion in temple, Heian Shrine and more.
Seuin-An- is also a few minutes away from the Kamo river (Kyoto’s main river which runs through the city) and a great local park, where you can do as the Kyoto-ites do – take an early morning jog, stroll along the river side, or relax on a park bench and watch the world go by. Another option would be, a an early morning walk in Gion district itself to get a glimpse into the Geisha world before the tourist fills the streets.
The Heart of the City:
While it is easy to get to the city center by walking Seuin-An also benefits from good transport links. It has about 20min ride bus connection to Kyoto station and only a 5- 10 minutes’ walk to Keihan railway Shijo or Sanjo stations on the Keihan railway line. In 3–5 minutes you can also reach a bus station and access the many bus lines including the comfortable “Raku Bus” a special bus line which runs through the main sightseeing spots of Kyoto.
