Gorgeous Pool/Beach Home in Lakeside

We have just returned from our week at this first time rental. This property could be a spectacular rental if it was cleaned properly. The house has a quaint charm and has been remodeled. The pool was a great hit with our grandchildren. The property is within walking distance of the beach but the house just was not clean. The kitchen floor needed a thorough mopping. We found a dirty sock under the ottoman in the sun room. The top bunk bed in one bedroom was covered in cat hair! There was no way we could have used that bed. The refrigerator needed repair and the repairman came 3 times during out vacation to fix it - inconvenient for us and something that should have been corrected before we came. The hot tub cover was dirty with animal tracks, the pool cover needed a good hosing down. The porch floor hasn't been sweeped this season. The guest house is full of cobwebs and spiders(and there are many in the main house too). Other than set a fairly lofty price tag, the owners didn't appear to want to do much else. I immediatly called the emergency local contact number and met with their representative who was sympathtic but really couldn't do much for us unless we wanted to have a cleaning crew come in while we were there. There is nothing wrong with this house that a good cleaning crew and a maintenance crew couldn't resolve. I left a list detailing the things that needed attention. Hopefully for future renters, the owners will take note. If not, this rental is extremely overpriced.
