Great resort and lovely room except for the issues with owner
This Marriott has a lot to offer from the two distinctly different pool settings to the ocean paradise and water sports activities. BUT DO NOT RENT THIS UNIT. I experienced less than hospitable treatment from the VRBO owner. Starting with a phone call days before my arrival, her number is on the confirmation email I received, I assumed it was ok to call. When I called to ask about specific check in details, she rudely told me it is all in the agreement, which it is not. Not once was she polite through this conversation but I was excited about my pending vacation so I disregarded her rudeness. Then, we arrived to a disgustingly dirty terrace and upon calling the owner, I was met with vague excuses about the large size of the terrace and the practice of other guests using it as an ashtray. This is not my fault nor my issue to deal with as a guest and she wanted ME to call her cleaning service to remove the debris left by a prior guest and cigarette butts that littered the terrace and appeared to have been there for some time as a broom was out there and covered one corner of butts, there were four corners filled. Broken beach toys littered the terrace along with gum wrappers and other trash. When I insisted this was her duty to offer a clean room to her paying guests, she offered to refund my money. Friends had traveled from New York and California to enjoy this long planned reunion weekend and she wanted me to upend all we had in place that day, hopefully find another room in the hotel and hope that she might be true to her word and actually refund our money. I insisted she call her cleaning service and have them get the room up to check in standard. I then received a call within the hour from her cleaning person who arranged to come the next day to clean the terrace, which she did but she still left a pile of cigarette butts under the broom. An odd way to clean to say the least. The rest of our stay was lovely, enjoying the resort and local diving. On departure day, I checked under each bed to make sure we didn't leave anything behind and found a mess of candy wrappers and juicebox discards under a bed in the double room, not our adult garbage and with the accumulated dust, it appeared to have been there awhile. I wouldn't have minded the lack of cleanliness of this unit had it not been for such rude behavior and interaction from the owner.
