Great house, Awesome location! Very spacious-2 family rooms, 2 fireplaces, 6 bedrooms, hot tub, pool table room, high speed wifi, internet TV and radio via ROKU, a computer and lots more....
Just a 1/3 of a mile up from Mountain Road we are right in between town and the ski area. We are below the busy commercial district and just across Mt. road is the Rec trail in a peaceful setting. Nestled on private hillside and surrounded by the forest privacy is enjoyed. We are less than 10 minutes from town, Mt. Mansfield or the Trapp X country trails.
New this year: Totally renovate kitchen with granite counters, hard wood floors in the living areas last year and a 6 person 50 jet hot tub w/ lounger, giant comfy leather sectional and a master bedroom set w/ tempur-pedic type king the year before.
This expansive house features post and beam construction, wooded tongue and groove cathedral ceilings and huge glass panels frame views and invites the outdoors in. This mid century modernist chalet inspired by Frank Loyd Wright blends its spaces together creating a great feeling of openness while at the same time feeling warm and intimate.
HOUSE SET UP: Two brick fireplaces are featured in each of the upper and lower family areas. The master room has king sized tempur-pedic type bed and 2 queen size bedrooms along with 2 room with a pair of 2 twins each and a single bedroom. The windows connect the natural environment to make people feel they are living in the outdoors. Interior spaces flow freely, accented by a rich combination of natural wood blending the spacees to create a great feeling of openness while at the same time feeling warm and intimate.
A brand new European designed fully equipped kitchen compliments a dining area suitable for 12. Its two car garage keeps snow off your car and there is plenty of additional parking. A mud room is just off the parking area to reboot and store skis indoors. It is has wonderful gathering spaces and can comfortably accommodate a fun loving crowd with its pool room and piano. There is also plenty of room so people don't feel on top of one another.
The upper living room has a huge screened fireplace, HD TV, surround sound home theater system with CD/DVD, ipod dock and cable. New this year is a ROKU connection providing internet radio and TV. You can access your netflix account, listen to pandora or access its crazy number of channels. It comes equipped with high speed wireless connection and a computer.
It is located in a private wooded setting on an acre of land half way between the mountain and the town- convenient to everything. The shuttle stops at the end of the road and is a 5 minute walk should one want to come home from skiing early. Feel the warmth this wonderful home has to offer.
We just returned from a great weekend in Stowe. The house is in a wonderful location - a 5 minute drive to the slopes and also near town and many restaurant choices. The house itself was perfect for two families with multiple beds on the first and lower level. It has a wonderful ski lodge feel with two big fireplaces and wonderful windows to see the snowy trees. We made fires nightly in the upstairs fireplace and also loved the outdoor hot tub after a day of skiing. The owner provides you with so much helpful information about the house, the town, ski mountain, restaurants, etc. It was our first time to the area so all of his information was incredibly helpful for us. It is also a wonderfully equipped home for a rental. They provide paper products, multiple bedding options, pillows, etc, and the use of whatever is in the kitchen and firewood! When going somewhere for a few nights it is so nice not to have to worry about packing paper towels and pantry staples. We would definitely return for another ski weekend in the future. Highly recommend!
My wife and I just hosted a family reunion, and we could not have been more pleased! We had family members travel from Maine, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island, as well as a few Vermonters!
The house is equipped as advertised, there were no issues or surprises. It is very clean and well maintained. The kitchen is new and well appointed. There is no need to bring anything with you except groceries and beverages. All flatware, plates, pans, coffee maker etc. are provided.
The living room is huge, and there is a large leather sectional, as well as several additional chairs. Plenty of seating for all. Even though we visited in June, we did have a cool Vermont evening (45) and enjoyed sitting around the fireplace. The kids enjoyed Smores as well! (Ok, so did a few adults)
We slept 11, and all were comfortable. The 6 bedrooms are all various sizes, and are a mix of king, queen, and twin beds. That combination was perfect for us. There is also a day bed in the pool room that we did not use.
There are 3 full baths, and that is helpful when you are trying to get 11 people out the door for activities in the morning.
The pool table was a nice bonus, as well as the hot tub. We enjoyed both.
I won't get in to our daily activities, if you are planning a trip to Stowe, you already know it is beautiful year round, and the many various activities the area has to offer. We stayed busy exploring, hiking, shopping, golfing etc., and we all went to bed exhausted each night!
The owner is friendly, and he was easy to communicate with throughout the reservation/rental process. It was obvious to me that he has a genuine attachment to the Stowe area, and that he wants his renters to have a great experience. There is always a certain amount of risk when you book a vacation spot for the 1st time. That was not the case here. We were completely satisfied. We will be returning at some point I am sure.
I guess the only negative that I take away from the whole experience would be that Diane wants to remodel our kitchen now!
My family passed a great Xmas week at this house.
The house itself was perfect with a great dining and living area and a play room for the kids downstairs. It is conveniently located to the town of Stowe and to the ski lifts.
The owner is very responsive and provided detailed information on the area, restaurants, and how best to approach the slopes. We enjoyed it immensely.
We had a wonderful experience and this house was perfect for 2 families with kids. You had two master bedrooms for the parents and a whole lower level with it's own family room that was perfect for the kids. Add in the great hot tub right out back and garages for the cars...and it was simply perfect. Plus it was a so close to the mountain.
Had a great time with 11 of my closest girlfriends. The house had everything that we needed and was well maintained and stocked. The new additions to the house were beautiful and the hot tub couldn't have been better. The owner was available with any questions and was great to work with. We stayed here a few years ago and really appreciated the updates, especially the hot tub. I would recommend this home to a large group or couple of families.
This house is a great house in a very convenient location. It is easy to get into town or head to the slopes. This was our second time staying at the house with the same group and once again it did not disappoint. After skiing and some time at the Matterhorn, the house is a perfect place to retreat to in order to unwind, relax, and have some fun. The hot tub allows you to rest the legs and body after a hard day on the slopes. The pool table allows you to have some fun with the group late into the night. The large family room is great for games, hanging out, and watching tv. The fireplace is conveniently located in the middle of everything. The bedrooms are a great size and there is an ample number of bathrooms.
The owner is great to work with and outlines everything Stowe has to offer in a nice welcome booklet.
The house is great for a weekend away with friends. It was our second year staying at the house and we will definitely head back for a third next year.
Stowe is the center of summer adventure and culture. It is the winter outdoor sports mecca of the New England. Nearly every weekend in the summer and fall there is some fair or event. Check the web site www.gostowe.com for the listings during the time you'd like to be in Stowe.
Other Activities: Shopping, Kayaking, Snowboarding, Snowmobiling, Wildlife Viewing, Health/Beauty Spa, Mini Golf, Hot Air Ballooning
Ski: They don't call Stowe the ski capital of the East for nothing. The mountain offers more of everything than any other in the East. It is huge and has everything from the most challenging terrain to loads of intermediate and begginer slopes. Stowe is the least commecial and classiest place in the East as well. The dinning and night life is top notch. Killington may be roudier but Stowe has more authentic nightlife. Ever hear of the Mattahorn, considered by one of the best ski bars in America by Ski magizine. When the rest of Vermont suffers from a bad snow year Stowe still has fine skiing becasue of its awesome new snow making system, elevation and micro-climate as Vemonts highest peak. It is much safer to book a ski vacation at Stowe becasue the conditions are more reliable. I am a alpine race coach and have skied at every big mountain in the East. I chose Stowe to buy my secong home because it is simply the best in all sorts of ways.
