RURAL RETREAT, EXPANSIVE VIEWS & A WARM CUSTOM WOOD INTERIOR

Courtenay Chalet Rental Photos and Description

Chalet, 1 Bedroom + Other (See Description), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 2-4)

Privacy, comfort and loads of custom carpentry.

Come to beautiful Courtenay on Vancouver Island and immerse yourself in the comfort, solitude and warmth of our unique hand-built accommodation. Situated on a small acreage surrounded by forest and pasture, we have also surrounded you with the warmth of gorgeous native B.C. woods inside your accommodation.

If you want to leave the world behind for a few days, you can snuggle in with the warmth of the Vermont Castings while reading your favorite book. Perhaps a soak in the vintage cast iron claw foot tub, complete with a pastoral view and a shelf for your wine. Snoozing in the afternoon…why not? Music is through FM or your I-pod on our docking station.

Perhaps you might want to use the binoculars and watch a different type of world go by. Our only neighbors are the wildlife who pass through our yard. Eagles, hawks and deer are very good neighbors and won’t mind having you for a visit. Our free-range chickens may pop by for a social; perhaps you would enjoy some of their lovely fresh eggs.

If cooking is your pleasure, you will find the kitchen naturally bright and pleasantly workable with a fabulous view. The amenities include a full-sized fridge, gas cook-top, counter top convection oven with rotisserie, microwave, coffee equipment as well as most other items you would expect. Bar stools at the natural stone counter give lots of opportunity for conversation.

If “relaxing” is on your list of things to do, please contact us.

Welcome to our property! We came to the beautiful Comox Valley from Victoria twelve years ago, and have never looked back. We live on our small acreage with our two friendly dogs, a cat and a few chickens (the girls).

The Owner purchased this chalet in 2000

We had a very long list of criteria that we wanted to fulfill when we went looking for property for our family to live on. We found what we needed right here on Grant Road. We grew to love it so much that wanted to share it with others who may enjoy it as well. That's when we decided that we would build a guest accommodation at the back of our property. Four years later, we offer you 'The Loft'.

I think of myself as your host, available to help you discover the Comox Valley and get to know it as a local would. While the property is only 3 acres, the surrounding farm field and forest give you the feel that you are on a much larger acreage. Right from your living room window, you can view all of the wildlife that is naturally drawn to this area. Deer, bear, birds of prey, great blue heron, trumpeter swans, Canada geese. You'll be enchanted, and our binoculars will be your new best friend. Bring your tri-pod and telephoto lenses. I have seen four bears at the same time foraging corn. I have seen a pair of Golden Eagles battle a large Bald Eagle over a kill. There are a lot of Hawks here as well as several types of Owls. I have spent hours being amused as a pair of large Hawks took turns 'on watch' as the other dined. This is a route for migrating birds and the more you know the more you will see. Great families of Whooping Cranes overhead. Turkey Vultures soaring on the rising air off the field. Great Blue Herons frequent our duck pond. It's great.

Great Central Coast Location

We like to sightsee, but we don't like to eat out three times a day. We look for places that are central for attractions and activities, and that also provide a well-equipped kitchen. This location had it all - only about 10 minutes to a grocery store but feels like country, complete with wildlife as well as domestic animals. We hiked, fished, hiked some more, fished some more, went whale watching, visited local art fairs and farms and wineries. Nothing was more than an hour away. Everyone else has mentioned the charm of this place, and it did not disappoint. It was sparkling clean, and the host could not have been more accommodating. Even the weather cooperated for this splendid vacation in beautiful British Columbia.

Idyllic Holiday Retreat

This comfortably appointed loft was the most idyllic holiday retreat! The host's attention to detail is to be commended: communication before & during our stay, friendliness, cleanliness, reasonable rates, little extra touches ... I daresay I could go on & on. Conveniently located for exploring Central Vancouver Island. I'm torn between keeping this a 'secret' destination & giving Ross, our host, the kudos he so richly deserves!

Perfect!!

We were three young seniors away on our annual 'girls' get-away. I was blown away by how clean the place was. It was an ideal setting in the country, but close to the towns of Comox, Courtenay and Cumberland. It was actually made into this beatifull well-stocked cottage from an old barn, very quaint. The owner was very helpful in making up an extra bed downstairs in the dining room, and we even had a bottle of wine and chocolates waiting for us. The place was so peaceful, we even had a chicken or two come up the steps to greet us, along with the family dog. Nearby is the very old town of Cumberland, and their museum is a must-see. Mount Washington is also just up the highway, where during the summer their chair lifts are used for tourists to go up the mountain with fantastic views of all the ski trails. Comox is also a lovely little town, and the Black Fin Bar & Grill has great food, whilst you're seated overlooking the water. We were truly happy with the accomodations, and would love to go back there, husbands in tow, as it's really quite a romantic sort of place. I'd certainly recommend this Clearview Cottage to Seniors, Newlyweds or families.....it's the perfect place.

Great stay

What a great week we spent in this property. Ross was a delightful host and was very helpful with offering advice regarding places to visit.
As for the property itself, wow, it was even better than the website photos. The staircase-the centre piece of the house, had been lovingly made by Ross and was a real work of art. The kitchen was very well equipped and even the smaller details had been thought of .
There were 2 decks to sit out on and it was great to go out there and watch the numerous deer that appeared regularly . The bathroom was lovely too and being completely unoverlooked, had a window the length of the bath and one morning, , my husband laid in there and counted 6 deer outside!
The property was also quite central for site seeing whilst retaining a rural atmosphere.
When we are next on Vancouver Island, we hope to return as it was such a lovely place to stay .

The Perfect West Coast Experience

My husband and I found this gem and spent a week there for our honeymoon. The place is beautiful and was built over several years be the owner himself. The loft has natural wood beams and staircase, with windows in all the right places and beautiful furnishings. It was a quiet location close to many beaches, trails, quaint towns, and beautiful wilderness. My husband and I also went to Nanaimo for a day trip - an easy thing to do. Ross, the host, was so welcoming and gracious - giving us plenty of space but was always available to meet our needs. We enjoyed the fresh blackberries, families of deer walking in the backyard, awesome location, and cozy atmosphere. Would come here again!

Cleaning. It takes six to seven hours. No hairs no fingerprints, windows done, goodies set out. Ironed Egyptian sheets, clean. I have had guests pull me aside and confess their Freudian cleanliness issues and tell me this place was clean, even for them.
I use PayPal. It just works well and you are secure. There is a $200.00 reservation deposit at time of booking. Six weeks prior to occupancy I will request full payment. At occupancy the reservation deposit converts to a damage deposit and is refunded after departure.
I can divide the payments into two should you wish. One at six weeks one at four weeks. All guests arrive fully paid. It works well
