Built in 2009, this 2167 square feet, 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath log home with 2 covered decks, a spacious screened porch and a two-car garage is located near Brevard/Rosman, NC, in Transylvania County, NC the “Land of Waterfalls”. If you want to enjoy gourmet dining, shopping, tubing, rafting, fly-fishing, kayaking, hiking, biking, golf, tennis, horseback riding, visiting beautiful Hendersonville and Asheville, NC and the Biltmore House and/or sightseeing along the famous Blue Ridge Parkway or Pisgah National Forest, most are within a 30-minute drive of our wonderful Cabin in the Trees and all are within about an hour’s drive.
If you just want to hang out and don’t want to get back in the car. No problem - There’s no better place to hang. Sit and relax in one of the locally crafted rocking chairs on the porch or pull up a recliner and lounge on the back deck from sun up to sun down breaking only for snacks, lunch and a nap by the fire. Year Round Views are plentiful with Hogback Mountain (aka Toxaway Lake Mountain) on the western horizon, always fun to watch as weather changes and it disappears and reappears through the mist following a dramatic summer shower. Brilliant sunsets after a storm can be breath-taking. Every sunset is different. Listening to the summer insect orchestra is entertaining as well.
Or load your backpack with snacks and your favorite beverage, walk out the front door and hike for about an hour to the top of Joshua Summit. Look for deer and locally famous “White Squirrels” along the way. The panoramic view of the Brevard area and surrounding mountains is breathtaking.
A short hike from Joshua Road and down Line Runner Ridge Road, turn right on Highway 178 (aka Pickens Highway) for 1/2 mile will lead you to Mountain View and one of Transylvania’s most arresting waterfalls. It is privately-owned but the owners welcome guests. In case anyone’s home, you might want to let them know you’re there.
If you’re into tubing, canoeing, rafting, kayaking, camping and/or fly fishing, we’ve found the friendly people at Headwaters Outfitters to be very helpful. They offer fly fishing lessons and guided floats (or up) the French Broad River (which flows the wrong way.) Their friendly staff has always been glad to answer any questions about the area you might have. They can even take you on a float to Brevard or Asheville.
For a sample menu for dining in Brevard (about a 20 minute-drive), we recommend you visit the Hobknob Restaurant on West Main Street, the Square Root, and/or the Falls Landing Restaurant. We have had good meals at all of them. Dress is informal.
After your meal, browse the streets of Brevard. You will find unique shops of almost any kind imaginable. Art Galleries are all over for some of the finest pottery and local artwork.
For the not so young but still young at heart with maybe a grandchild or two, be sure to browse OP Taylors Toy Store on the corner of Broad and Main Streets.

Welcome to our Cabin in the Trees. We are the McFall Family. We built our cabin in 2009 and have enjoyed every opportunity we have had to visit. Now we want others to enjoy what we have so enjoyed.
Anna McFall purchased this cabin in 2009
For the outdoor enthusiast, the Rosman / Brevard area offers so much to do and see: Hiking, Biking - some of the best mountain and road biking around, Fly Fishing (some of the best in the country), Climbing, Swimming, Tubing, Rafting, Kayaking, Repelling, Trail Running, wildlife viewing. Shopping, Dining, conveniently located near the Blue Ridge Parkway, Lake Toxaway, Pisgah National Forest, Dupont State Forest. Music Festivals....Art Galleries, What more could you ask for.
We always venture into Brevard for shopping or dining. Great meals at Hobknob, The Square Root, Marco Trattoria. Menus and Info are all in our Cabin Guide/Book. We usually try to check out a waterfall and a hike. They are plentiful in the area. Also, one of the owners is an avid triathlete. He can give tips on the road biking, mountain biking and trail running in the area. We have road biking maps available at the cabin as well.
We had a wonderful time, and the cabin was extremely nice and had all the amenities – the view from the balcony being the highlight. Extremely relaxed after 3 solid mountainbiking days (2 in Dupont and 1 in Pisgah – the Pisgah ride kicked our behinds by the way).
Thanks again, and your cabin will top the list if we are going back to the Brevard area, which we plan on. I’ll do a rave review on VRBO for you
We had a wonderful time staying in this beautiful mountain retreat. The space was perfect for all our family including babies, my 93 year old mother, and 7 other adults and a large dog! We enjoyed nearby hiking and all the fresh air even though it was chilly. The kitchen was well equipped for meal preparation for a crowd and loved having the downstairs kitchen too. Bedrooms and baths were nice as well as laundry facilities. Loved the porch and yard!
I could go on and on about how great my family's trip was, but I'll keep it short. The house is as advertised, and a lot more. Plenty of everything you need to have a comfortable stay, plenty of space for two families to share, and still have some privacy. The owners are VERY quick to respond to any communication, and the neighbors are friendly, and stop to say hello if they see you outside. We will definitely be staying there again.
My family of 10, including grandparents (1 with mobility issues), 4 kids 6 and under, and 4 adults in their 40s loved this cabin. It was perfectly set up for a large group with a downstairs that had it's own porch and a main floor with a gorgeous porch as well. Nicely and cleanly decorated, close to Brevard, even had a little Christmas tree. The best part for us was that the porches and yard were all contained very safely for young children and our dog. The fireplace was so nice it was almost too warm. :)
What a great mountain cabin. It easily accommodated my entire family (including young children). They provide lots of supplies for young children, which is really helpful. The furniture inside and on the porches was very comfortable. The views were incredible. We had a great time exploring the waterfalls close by. Next time, I may have to bring my dog, because it is very dog friendly with a fenced in yard.
We joined two other couples for a hiking weekend in the mountains and this cabin was the perfect location for our adventures. It was nice to each have a bedroom and bath and all on separate floors. One couple brought their dog and the lower level was ideal for them to access the outside for him. The porches are wonderful. You can watch as the sun hits the mountains in the morning and sunset directly over those mountains in the evening. We had cold weather and even a little snow but the gas fireplace made the space so cozy and warm.
This cabin is, by far, the most fabulous East coast mountain getaway spot imaginable. It had everything we could possibly need and more.
The cabin offers immaculate views from many decks and vantage points. I am picky about beds and sheets and they were all wonderful. Truthfully, I'm a beach girl and mountains don't do a lot for me. However, after staying in this cabin, I have changed my tune.
It rained one of the days we were there and it was not a bit boring to be inside. Even for an eight year old! We enjoyed listening to the rain hitting the leaves on the trees. The quaint town of Rosman is not far at all and offers nice cafés, restaurants, and shops. There is a waterfall a few miles from the cabin and it is truly the most magical place I've ever been. And, not to brag, but I have been all over the world.
I just can't recommend this cabin enough. The owners are so friendly and helpful. We cannot wait to book another vacation there.
Some of the best fly fishing in the country is located just minutes from the cabin. Sapphire Valley for local snow tubing / snow skiing / boarding available - 30 minute drive towards Cashiers. Waterfalls surround the whole area. They are everywhere. We are just a short 3 minute drive to the closest one.
