West Crooked Lake Resort, nestled along 400 feet of lakeshore, is a family-friendly resort located in the Paul Bunyan State Forest, surrounded by towering pines. We are a year-round resort, situated on the northeast shore of West Crooked Lake. While our location is quiet and serene, we are only 15 miles NE of Park Rapids, MN and 15 miles SW of Walker, MN, where opportunities for shopping, dining, and recreation are plentiful.
We provide activities on the resort for everyone. Although most of our guests like to fish, if that isn’t your thing, there are many other activities to enjoy. Build a sand castle on our sandy beach, swim in the gradual slope of the lake, play on the trampoline, take a leisurely stroll of the lake on the kayak, paddleboat, or canoe. We also have many yard games like volleyball, tetherball, badminton, basketball, croquet, and more! And just for the kids, we offer scheduled activities Tuesday and Thursday, then a movie on Wednesday night.
The area offers many interesting and exciting attractions, such as Itasca State Park where the Mississippi Headwaters is located, a local winery, a fun park, the Heartland Trail (a paved trail, excellent for biking, walking, or rollerblading in the summer, and snowmobiling in the winter through the beautiful countryside), Northern Lights Casino, and many shopping and dining choices. Dorset, the “restaurant capital of the world” is just minutes from the resort.
If it’s a winter vacation you want, West Crooked Lake Resort provides comfortable accommodations for large snowmobiling groups or just getting away with some friends. Ice fish all day, go snowmobiling directly from your cabin, cross-country ski on local trails, or just spend a weekend in your warm and cozy cabin enjoying the Northwoods.

I visit in the early summer and again in the fall and can't wait to get to this cabin. Even if it rains, it is so cozy to read a book inside. Can fish off the dock right below the cabin

We grew up in Iowa but spent many summers vacationing in the beautiful Northwoods of Minnesota. We loved being up here every time we came, and knew this is where we wanted to be.
When we were ready to purchase a resort, we knew what we had in mind for a resort. After looking at many resorts, we visited West Crooked Lake Resort and both knew instantly this was the one. Located in a quiet wooded area, the cabins sit on the spacious grounds overlooking a secluded, beautiful lake. This is definitely a family vacation spot, with something for everyone - a large sandy beach with a water trampoline, canoe, and paddleboat; boats for fishing, or just touring the lake; activities for the kids; plenty of nature seeking; and of course, listening to the loons calling.
