Wonderful Peace & Quiet
Wonderful Peace & Quiet

My wife and I spent five weeks in this clean, lovely home beginning February, 2012. It is comfortably decorated, about 150 yards from the beach, and possibly the best ocean front unit on the western side of Molokai. It has everything you need, plus more. It’s nice to pretend you’re rich! Liana, the property manager, is very easy to work with, and extremely knowledgeable about the island. She makes things happen. Be sure to purchase fresh fish from her husband. The screened-in porch, and upstairs balcony, are places you’ll spend a lot of time. We rented the owner’s car, a Volkswagen Passat. It’s cheaper then the local car rentals. Plus the car rental agencies, run out of cars quickly – reserve ahead. If you enjoy solitude and a “back to old Hawaii” feeling, you’ll enjoy Molokai. Tourists are scarce and things are very quiet. Flip flops and a bathing suit are all you need. I believe there’s more deer then people. The Molokai Mule ride to Kalaupapa (Leper colony) is a must, but you should reserve a mule weeks in advance. Do so from home, before you travel. The mule ride is on many “bucket lists” and in demand. It is both exhilarating and terrifying, at the same time. Save up your money, it cost $190 per person, but well worth it. You must take your camera. Finally, if you need to unwind and recharge the old battery, or just “kick back”, rent this beautiful condo.
