Ever dream of a house on a cliff overlooking the ocean?
Otter Rocks is a distinctively designed 'Frank Lloyd Wright' style house, built on 4 levels over granite ledge, perched on the rocky shore of Blue Hill Bay – a truly spectacular spot. Located on the quiet side of Mount Desert Island with easy access to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. This is a house that has all the creature comforts plus the charm of a unique Maine summer home. The living area is at the same time warm and spacious. Enjoy a panoramic view of the bay and watch sunsets from the generous decks. You are guaranteed to see boats and birds and porpoises and, at night, shooting stars. Keep watching and you may spot an eagle or a seal.
Four cozy bedrooms are furnished with a queen bed, a full bed, and two twin beds, all well removed from the living area. A pull out couch is also located in the family room for a willing guest. A fully equipped bright and roomy kitchen takes the chore out of meal prep.
The property is very secluded without being isolated. At the end of a dead end road, only you and the other guests will be nearby. The villages of Southwest Harbor, Northeast Harbor, and Bar Harbor plus Acadia National Park’s main entrances and trails are fifteen to thirty minutes away by car.
Swimming is possible for the intrepid, given the rocky shore and the ocean water, but access to the water is easy. However, nearby lakes may be more inviting.

Having lived or summered on or around the island for more than 35 years, Mt. Desert has always been considered our home away from home. It is a place that we migrate to each summer (and even an occasional winter) regardless of where ever else our family is on the planet. It is truly a integral part of our family tradition.
