Quinta Vida, Your Home Away from Home!

The house is in top of a rock surrounded by a beautiful deck with very comfortable furniture and hammock. It has 3 floors. The first floor has the utilities and in the second floor there is an enormous open room where the dining room, the living room and the kitchen are located.The dining table is of dark wood with seating for 12. The living room has 2 red couches.and chairs They are so big they look like beds. The kitchen is very comfortable with beautiful stone china, glasses and everything you need in a kitchen.. So Tony was very happy. We cannot drink the water from the faucet. It is not potable. This area face the beach which can be seen from the glass walls. So it seems we are in a ship all the time. You do not see the sand until you come down the stairs that leads you to it. The sand is white and like powder. The water in the morning is turquoise and changes to different shades of blue during the day. The temperature of the water is perfect. The beach is private to this house only. The next house is 2 blocks away in top of another rock. In between there are dense vegetation.
In this second floor there is also a big bathroom and a bedroom with 2 beds, a desk, a table and 2 escaparates full of towels and bed sheets. It also has another bedroom completely furniture where we decided to sleep.
The third floor has the master bedroom with a gorgeous open bathroom. The bed is in the center of the room on top of a base of 3 feet high ,so, when you are there all you see is the ocean through the glass windows. We decided not to use it. We were afraid to fall down while sleeping.
There is a lot of antiques in the house and it is decorated with a very good taste. It really offers everything we need to have such a relaxing and wonderful vacation.
After the sunset we watched thousand of stars in the sky.

I never left a review after our return from Quinta Vida, for fear of it being discovered by other travellers. I know that may sound selfish, but once you stay in the most beautiful serene place...it is hard to share!!! i visited Quinta Vida with my husband,16 year old daughter and our very best Bachelor friend. This house and island will have more meaning to us than I would have ever thought. I think about the great people of the Exumas, enjoying the beaches and amazing waters. We spent nearly every day enjoying the house and beach without having to leave to amuse ourselves. Ana was great, she checked in on us to make sure we had everything we needed and made sure the house was what we had anticipated. There were lots of beach items like snorkel gear, sand pails (which were used to build a HUGE sandcastle!) air mattresses etc. etc…. the caretaker was also very helpful; he waited patiently for us to arrive as our flight was delayed almost two hours!! A car is a must because it is remote.. Be sure to order coconut bread from mama at mamas bakery in Williamstown…this makes the most amazing French toast I have ever eaten. Quinta Vida will be in our hearts forever….it was the last place we enjoyed time with our best friend; we suffered with the loss of our beloved friend shortly after returning home. I will always remember Quinta Vida as the best vacation I have ever had.

La Quinta Vida is a lovely home near what seems like the end of the world. It is comfortable, well-equipped and sits about 15 feet from the edge of an ocean bluff near the end of the road on Little Exuma, far away (well, a 30 minute rough (and I mean rough) drive) from civilization.
We went just after X-mas. The weather was a bit chilly (60's) for a few days then it warmed a bit, and the water temp was chilly too. But we got some wetsuits from the dive shop, and, even though the waves were rough, my kids swam from the beach most days. I hear the sand shifts in the cove as there was really no beach in front of the house while we were there, but you could climb down the stairs onto the rocks and 100 yards away the beach widened. I'm sure the water is much warmer and seas calmer in the spring and summer.
We had fun doing some of the things recommended by the owner- dining out at Santanas just down the road, renting a boat to go snorkeling and exploring the islands of Eliz. Harbor. We found the SCUBA not very good, but, as I said, it was windy and the ocean was rough when we visited. Dive sites were limited by the weather.
My kids were a bit lost as to what to do with themselves when we first got there. No TV, internet was not working. But after a few days they were opening coconuts, going for walks, feeding the Banaquits, chasing lizards and picking out VHS movies for us to watch at night after we grilled some steaks on the barbecue. And we did lots of road trips exploring the islands, eating out pretty much everywhere there was to eat, seeing everything there was to see (not much, really).
All in all it was a great escape. If you like relaxing, reading, chilling out in a quiet, beautiful place, this place is just the ticket. If you're looking for action, you better be creative here.
Would I visit again? Yes, but without my kids, so my wife and I, and maybe a few friends, could just relax and take in all the beauty of this lovely place.
